Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I think this cafe is the best on the island - considering it is quite challenging to get food in the Cooks, the owners really are sourcing some of the best ingredients. We visited three times for lunch and had pizza, burger, tacos, curry, marlin...bruschetta and prawn bruschetta (not all in one go obviously)! The cafe was recommended by the hosts of our accommodation and we were able to scooter to it, as it was quite far from where we were staying. I would 100% recommend it.More

This is a fantastic place to eat It rightly deserves the ' best fish tacos in the world' title.. But there's lots of other choices. I had the poached fish on our second visit and it was equally delicious. Great service, lovely atmosphere. Go eat...there.More

Was recommended this cafe by our driver but we had also seen it on happy cow (app for vegetarians) was surprised by the big portions everything was delicious and we liked all the local fruits and vegetables on the plate. A highlight was also Michael...thier cat! Also saw chickens and a pig.More

Lots of good reviews didn’t materialise for us when dinner here. Service was appalling. Food was less than average. Live music was nice and the twinkle lights gave it a nice feel…otherwise, I couldn’t recommend it.

We honestly can't fault it, it was flavourful, fresh and well-presented. Coffee good, smoothie good, burger good, pancakes good, bacon eggs and hash good! And the new craft summer ale was good! If we went back we would visit here daily without a doubt! Uncle...Michael is the cat he is good too!More

Absolutely aaaaamazing food, vibe and service. We got recommended from a local lady and were stoked to find this gem of a place. A nice breeze blowing in under the sandy trees. I had the green curry and it was great. Fresh seafood, delicious fresh...herbs and veges and a huge portion. The iced chocolate drinks were so good and also huge in size, so great value for money! Would recommend hiring a scooter to come here. Much better than the food at our resort!More

The Avatea Café felt like a bit fancier fare for a non-hotel offering in Aitutaki but not to the point of being overly pretentious. I had the Supreme Pizza which was loaded with many fresh and tasty ingredients (and we had to take half home...as it was massive), and my wife had chicken wings as a meal with fries and salad. We also shared a fruit smoothie which was among the better ones we’ve had over our trip. Admittedly, the menu is a bit on the pricey side but the value proposition is great with the flavors and attention to detail. Really love the vibe with live music when we visited as well. As one of the most well-reviewed places in Aitutaki, we can see why Avatea Café is quite popular – it is up to the hype and is thus recommended. Please indicate if you found this review to be helpful as it would be greatly appreciated!More

This was probably some of the best food I had at Aitutaki, and very decently priced! The portions are huge, and you can take your food to go if you need, including drinks. There's a small shop at the cafe as well, selling pareus, shirts,...jewellery and prints. I wish we could have eaten here for every meal!More

We actually went back for dinner as well and we reckon this place will give the top places in the entire Cooks a run for their money. Top quality food and service. The fusion style works a real treat. Cocktails were the best we had...on the Island. Highly recommended and we'll be back.More

This place is a real gem. The food is amazing, the friendliness of the waitresses is hard to beat, the atmosphere is relaxed and authentic. The pricing is modest. Try the pacific ale, if you like a cool beer. When we came a bit later...one afternoon and were worried they might close for an afternoon break, we were told: Oh no worries, we only close when it's really full and hectic. This comment made my day as they certainly get their priorities right.More

This is a great alternative to the large hotel dining rooms - the architecture is simple and open - there was a ukelele singing group entertaining us. In addition to the standard menu items, they had some fusion rice bowl entries and pizza with good...vegis.More

This restaurant was a ‘find’ in the green interior of the island. Open-air, well-set tables, and a pleasant contemporary sound track. Not a lot of dishes on offer, and prices are the same as in the resort restaurants, but each meal we tried was excellent,...especially the Te Renga: seafood or chicken curry in a coconut sauce. Try the cheaper local beer and cocktails. The pleasant drive along the narrow road back to our resort was uneventful, there being little night traffic in Aitutaki.More
