Ended up here on our first morning, jetlagged and hungry, and they delivered a great little breakfast that I talked about for the next two weeks. It's quite 'touristy' but not overly so; it's not local though. You can sit outside and watch the people...buy their gifts for the templeMore

We ate on two separate occasions at The Empire Cafe and received great service and delicious meals each time. The restaurant is certainly catered more for a foreign crowd with fusion Sri Lankan menu items and an extensive list of fresh non-alcoholic beverages (the restaurant...does not serve alcohol). In particular, the premium tea they serve is the best we experienced in Sri Lanka (the Kandy 20 blend is incredible). The tea is sourced from Peekoh Tea which is a small batch, artisanal, environmentally sustainable loose leaf tea brand available only at select cafes, restaurants and markets in the country. The restaurant is busy, so be prepared to wait during peak mealtime hours; however, if you're not in a rush, their unique ambiance of heritage + eclectic is great place to go for a leisurely meal.More

Found this restaurant by accident but I was very thankful for it. This restaurant offers little teracce with view on Kandy lake and it is very close to Temple of the Sacret Tooth Relic. It offers autenthic asian kitchen but also a ot of snacks,...burgers and amazing desserts. The food is very tasty and looks also very nice. As a big fan of asian food there is nothing bad to say about their kitchen. If I will ever come back to Kandy I will definitely stop here.More

There aren't too many obvious options for food in Kandy but this should be near the top of the list. It's a nice, colonial style cafe with very friendly staff serving nice food and its just opposite the entrance to the tooth fairy exhibit. For...starter we had the Crispy Squid in sweet and sour sauce followed by Sri Lankan fish and chicken curries and two fresh fruit juices because they don't serve alcohol. Both curries came with sambal and vegetable curry accompaniments and were excellent. We finished the meal with a warm brownie with honeycomb ice cream which did not disappoint. The total bill with tips came to 4200RS or around £18 which is just silly. The absence of alcohol is an annoyance but there is a beer place at the top of Colombo Street down the alley where you can buy cold cans for virtually nothing.More

Very tasty wraps and smoothies! Western influenced, such as wraps, burgers, but also rice and curry. Very tranquil atmosphere and beautiful interior. Great and friendly service too

Waited 45mins and inky recurved my entree, after my partner received her meal I asked if they were still preparing my meal. They said that was all they were preparing and I can wait 15mins for it to come out. We are on a tight...schedule with touristy things to do with the rest of the day so we didn't wait. Very disappointed in the lack of attention to a simple order with only 3 items to remember. Kumara was the waiterMore

The title more or less says it all except that the service can be dreadfully slow And uncertain, reference 25 minutes for our water to turn up on a hot day. Staff disappear into the back so I definitely would not pay by any sort...of card here Not that we had problems (paid cash) The food that arrived was good, and recommended. Handy for those near the temple of the tooth or lake.More

We came here one evening for a light dinner after visiting the Temple of the Tooth as it is close to one of the exits. Our driver guide had recommended it to us, and it also had good reviews on TripAdvisor so we thought we...would give it a go. Decor was very nice and we were greeted by a friendly waiter who took us to our table. Service was prompt and I took the waiter’s recommendation of the coconut juice with lime and mint and it was delicious! I had the french toast with caramelised bananas and my husband had a fish burger and we both enjoyed our meals. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.More

Order practically anything, and you won't be disappointed. If you're not a big eater, though, you might want to think twice about how much you order, as their portions tend to be big. One improvement I would suggest is for the passion fruit mousse to...have a little bit more sweetness to it. Other than that, perfect in every way!More
