Great service but mediocre food

We would rate the food a 3 and the service a 5. Ate at the bar on a Saturday night around 8:45 pm. Our food took a long time to arrive and was underwhelming. Smothered chicken wasn’t very hot ( cheese didn’t melt) and the filet was sent back because it was so undercooked. First time ever that we didn’t even eat our entire basket of rolls because they weren’t warm. The bartenders were outstanding in providing service. Good thing this wasn’t our first visit to a Texas Roadhouse or we wouldn’t likely be back. But we know they are generally a good restaurant and we’ve ordered these dishes plenty of times before.

What's not to like? The staff here is very friendly and attentive. Since we like to dine early we always get the "Early Dine" menu offerings for $11.99. On two visits here I had the 6 ounce sirloin with a baked potato and salad. One visit I added a cup of chili. There was no waste on the steak. It was cooked perfectly medium rare and was delicious. My wife had the chicken on the first visit and steak on the second visit. We also had the cactus blossom fried onion as an appetizer. All good, very reasonably priced.

Lunch at the Road House

We visited the Texas Road house in Athens. We decided to try the Prime Rib on the bone. We ordered one medium rare a second well done with some char. The steaks were delivered to our table grilled perfectly and were very tasty. Our waitress was excellent as was the restaurant. The cooks cook your order like you order it not the way they want it. I’ll give them a five and a recommendation to give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

Not what we’re used to!

We are from Lancaster and visiting the area today. My husband and I decided on Prime Rib after inquiring of its availability. Our children got chicken tenders and steak tips, both meals cooked perfectly. Our prime rib however, was not freshly cooked. It was clearly reheated, well done (ordered rare) and couldn’t be cut with a steak knife. Firstly, this order should have never made it out of the kitchen. An untrained eye could tell that our prime rib shouldn’t have looked like that. Secondly, there wasn’t a manager aware of the situation until they thought we were all done at our table and she stopped by to ask how our food was. We changed our order to NY Strip (rare) to go. She so kindly removed 30% (hence the sarcasm) from two of our meals. Our server was great, management at this location stinks. Both managers had tunnel vision and walked by our table repeatedly through our entire visit. They could definitely use a brush up on skills from the Lancaster location. Two thumbs down!

1st bad experience

I ordered online a sirloin steak. The salad I got was pitiful ! It came in a little hamburger size Styrofoam and no egg 2 tomatoes and overstuffed lettuce in it. Tonite I'm ordering from Decatur TX ROADHOUSE, and am sending a pic on how your salad should look.

Very rude hostess

The first hostess we encountered took our name and number and said there would be a wait which we understood. We stepped inside the restaurant to wait and was rudely told by the next hostess to go wait outside or in our car. It was 25 degrees outside and we were not standing in the cold or wasting our gas to keep from freezing. We went to the restaurant next door and was greeted warmly and respectfully. You need learn customer service because we are the ones that make your paychecks possible.

Cactus blossom and margaritas

Walked over from the Hampton Inn for a good steak dinner. Chain restaurant with set menu and no surprises. Well staffed, and friendly service. The Steak and the chicken breast were a bit on the dry side, but seasoned nicely, and steak sauces are right on the table. My First time trying the cactus blossom (fried onion appetizer). Excellent choice, and nicely crusted. Very filling and plenty to share. Very good margaritas . They have a smaller version (10 oz) so that was just perfect for me. Clean and nicely decorated.

I drive 50 minutes to get here for their Prime Rib. Last three times I was seated in this restaurant before 7pm, they were out of prime rib. The last time I tried there was 1 hour 55 minute wait. I gave up at an hour and a half and went to IHOP. Texas Roadhouse notified me that my seat was ready just after IHOP set my food on the table. The food is good if You are lucky enough to get what You want. Good luck.

Poor Customer Service

Arrived to be told it was a 45 minute wait, that was fine they were busy. But then told we needed to go wait in the car. No thank you. We’ll we return when customer service is the focus.

Another good experience

We both had the pork chops. They were cooked nicely and well seasoned. They were tender and juicy. Our salads were large and fresh. My corn was good and my wife's baked potatoe was well cooked.

Bad employees make for bad restaurants

Three times a charm

We dine frequently at our local Texas Roadhouse and find the steaks to be quite enjoyable. While visiting Ohio University, we came across this location and decided to give it a shot. The server was friendly and accomodating. I always gauge a server's efforts based on whether our drinks are allowed to go empty, for how long and whether we actually have to request a refill. Our drinks were never empty. As for the meal, we had the Cactus Blossom which was up to par as were our meals. I ordered the 8 oz sirloin medium rare with the grilled shrimp. The steak came out overcooked as were the shrimp which were also a bit on the bland side. I don't mind if the steak is a bit overcooked but it was basically grey inside. The shrimp were a bit disappointing but still okay. I sent the steak back and waited for the replacement. It was as I was expecting, this new steak was undercooked. I totally understand. They already lost one steak and would rather undercook the replacement and have me send it back again than risk overcooking another. I sent it back a second time and when they brought it out the 3rd time, it was perfect. The temperature was right on point and the flavor was good. Overall, the restaurant made good. In the past, when I have had issues at Texas Roadhouse, the manager has come to the table. In this visit, we never saw the manager but he or she did discount my meal which was the right thing to do so I am satisfied, would go back to this location and overall am happy!
