Average.....used to be much better!

So Shade has been our go to place for close to 6 years. We would go with our whole family any time we were in town. We were there this past Saturday with a party of 6. We were seated fairly quickly. The waitress messed up our drink order and told us that a beer would be taken off of our tab. When our food came there were multiple mistakes. When I mentioned that one of the burgers wasn't supposed to have mustard on it she giggled and said " those guys in the back make a lot of mistakes" then she walked away. So needless to say we have to find a new place to spend our money!

Nice place to eat. Great dessert.

This place is a good place to eat and has lots of space. They had a really good dessert. It was a hot chocolate chip cookie top with cold vanilla ice cream. The only reason I rated it a 4 is because it took about 20 minutes for someone to take our order and when we did a take out order we paid for extra ice cream and it was missing. Both times we got an apology and they fixed it.

Incredible Tuna! Sandwich!!

I wanted to try something new. I was surprise with their quick service, well trained servers, and the variety of foods on the menu. I ate the Tuna and fries. Wow the taste was incredible. One of the best Tuna Sandwich I have tasted. The Price was very reasonable.

2 hostesses texting for 10 minutes while 20 people waited

We ordered take out but it took over an hour to get our food. The two hostesses spent more time texting on the phones on front of 20 waiting people. A few of the waiting people were waiting like us for their takeout. Bags of food were sitting at the front but the 2 hostesses were more concerned with texting rather than handing the ready food over. People were walking out. So much business lost with these two girls who were clearly my wanting to work. The food order we got was wrong. Two sandwiches were wrong and we got part of someone else’s order. No concern by the employees to do their basic jobs. Go eat somewhere else and get less attitude and better food.

Why is everything STICKY?

This place is dirty. We had sandwiches for lunch and bread tasted stale. Nothing had any flavor. The fries were gummy and after a recook not much better. Just super bland. The place is filthy. The ceiling is covered in dust, tables are all sticky, floor is sticky. Nope on this place for me.

Awesome Hummus and Pita bread! Lois

I had the best homemade hummus and Pita bread that I have ever had in a restaurant. It was so large, I brought 2/3 of it home with me and have been snacking on it for two days. The Pita bread had the best flavor. I would highly recommend it, especially if your are with a group to share. I also had a cup of seafood chowder and it was excellent. The server was very nice and attentive. A great experience.

Too greasy wings

We stopped here while traveling through town. We sat near the windows in the high tops and the chairs were wobbly from high use I would assume. The windows are pretty cold place to sit near. We ordered a couple of salads which were good and good ranch dressing! I also ordered the garlic Parmesan wings- Way too greasy! Interesting the wings do not come with celery or ranch. We also ordered the mozzarella sticks which were just ok and the marinara had a weird taste. The waitress was great and checked on us a few times. Overall a good place to watch a game and a wide variety of options, but we will not go there again.

We made a day trip into Athens from Hocking Hills. Stop in to grab a bite to eat. The food was good. I had a open faced sub called good fellas . It was pretty good. The service was slow for as many people that were in the restaurant. That was really the only draw back . The menu pretty much has something for everyone.

In all honesty, Shade was in the top 3 worst restaurants I have ever been to… and it is not 2 or 3. I am so disappointed with my food/service/drinks/ everything. Thank goodness it was cheap because if not I would’ve raged

Bad experience altogether

January 23, 2023 I am writing this letter about the very poor service my wife and I received on this past Saturday,January 21, 2023. I have listed it in order that it occurred: 1. I placed a takeout order by phone at 2:57 pm on Saturday afternoon. I was told the order would be ready in 25 to 30 minutes. 2. We arrived at the restaurant and paid for the order at 3:21 pm. The waitress told us she would check on the order and get back to us when it was ready. We saw her immediately go to the kitchen, but she came back out numerous times and never updated us on our order. We waited…. 3. At 3:41( I checked my watch) we still had not received my order or any update. I then approached a different wait person and inquired about our order. She said she’d go check on it. We again did not receive our order and the wait person never returned… 4. Finally at 3:53(watch time) I’d had enough. I again approached a different wait person at the counter and explained what was going on. I told her if my order wasn’t coming I would just like our money back. She said she’d go check on it. 5. I was handed our order at 4:03 pm with a “sorry about your wait”. We took our order and left. We drove home.(approximately 15 minutes) 6. When we arrived home we had a horrible surprise! The hamburgers were 75% burned and completely cold and dry. They actually looked like they had been sitting an hour or more. The buns were completely soggy. We shouldn’t have eaten them, but we were starving by then. They actually tasted like eating charcoal! I wish I had taken pictures ! The French fries were soggy and luke warm. The wings were good flavored but not warm. Even the grease was jelling. I am really upset with the total experience. I mailed a letter directly to the business by USPS, but have received no response.

Really slow

We waited for 45 min for food and they served my boyfriend cold tacos the server told us 5 min and it turn into 15 min. We won’t be coming back here

Comfy Sports Bar with Good Food

Ate here on a Saturday night. Good burger and sandwich selection, plus appetizers and pizza. Server very friendly. Some nice raft brews on tap. Prices very reasonable: less than $10 for a very good Reuben and fries.
