I try to stop here whenever I am in Athens. Yesterday, I had lunch there and was very pleased. I had the appetizer, Muhammara: Middle Eastern spread of local roasted red peppers, walnuts, bread crumbs, pomegranate molasses and spices, with warm pita. It was fantastic. I also had their special of the day, oxtail soup. Very delicious and perfect for a cold wintry day. You also are served warm bread and there is olive oil to dip it in. Love the food here and the people who work there.

I was wanting to support local restaurants during the Pandemic, so I visited their website, and found their carryout process explained really well. They are only open for carryout dinner Friday and Saturday. The menu is limited during this time, you call in your order on Friday or Saturday before noon, and you choose your pickup time. Your food is placed outside, behind the restaurant on their covered porch. It was all very simple. The food was amazing! I had a side salad, with olives, and cucumbers and a house made vinaigrette. It was perfect. Homemade croutons and all. The linguine with clams was to die for. I love being completely bowled over by a meal, and this was exactly that. Lots of garlic, tender clams, and a light sauce (white clam sauce), I felt like I was eating by the sea. You can tell they put love into their food, and I felt it. I also ordered a slice of carrot cake for the man at home, and he said it was great. Thank you Restaurant Salaam.

Absolutely amazing. Our daughter’s large wedding was canceled due to Covid, we decided to do a much smaller wedding of 22 outside with social distancing. We had difficulty finding a caterer for the smaller wedding, but was fortunately to find Restaurant Salaam and Hilarie. She provided with all the plate ware, glass ware and flatware prior to the wedding, we had it all set up and she came with her husband and plated all of guests dinner. We had Tomato Gazpacho soup, Salade Nicoise with Tuna or Steak and crusty French bread. All so delicious I have been back to her restaurant for pick up as they are closed for dine in during Covid. And I will back this Friday for another take out dinner! Thanks

We ordered carryout on Parent’s Weekend and despite being really busy the service was prompt and the food was amazing! Can’t wait to return on a quieter weekend and eat inside. It’s one of my son’s favorite places! The baba was delicious, the special ground lamb/hummus dish and salad was so flavorful and my limoncello just a perfect ending for my sweet tooth.all the food was delicious.

Have eaten here several times on our occasional trips to Athens. During our pandemic trip we opted for take-out which was carefully and accurately prepared. Friendly and helpful staff only requiring a name to order over the phone. Hopefully next time we will feel comfortable eating inside this exceptional venue. Glad they have weathered the COVID storm.

Nice cozy spot in Athens with great service and decor. Their list of daily specials is extensive and the desserts were tasty. Lauren (named after Lauren Bacall) was very personable and took great care of us. I will return!

When traveling it is difficult to find healthy options for dinner. This was a delightful find. Everything from special entrees to wraps and soups were available. A nice wine/beer list was available. Meat dishes and vegetarian dishes possible. The staff was the best. Great service and they worked quietly and attentively. I had a fantastic salad and falafel. My wife had a chicken wrap with wonderfully seasoned chicken. When we travel through again, we will be back. Oh yes, price was great as well. $35 for dinner for two with tea. Entrees a bit more but were appealing.

Salaam has been our go-to restaurant when visiting Athens for *years* and every visit reinforces that choice. Hilary and Mark (owners) are two of the most conscientious and creative people we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. This carries through into their menus and how they run the restaurant. The food is delicious, sustainable and served perfectly. The staff are knowledgeable and gracious. Take the time to go to Salaam. Get a cup of tea w your meal. You’ll come away relaxed and happy.

We visit Salaam almost every time we visit Athens. The staff have always been accommodating and friendly and the food and service is great.
The atmosphere is sort of 'intimately casual' which is nice. If you want somewhere to dine, Salaam is a safe bet. You won't be disappointed.

Salam was welcoming from the moment we walked in. The service was prompt and very friendly. The food was incredibly delicious. Can't wait to return and try more items on the menu.

Delicious food and excellent service! Our server, Traci, was very sweet and attentive. We were in Athens to spend homecoming with our first-year Bobcat. We’ll definitely visit Salaam again!

Wanted to have Mediterranean food while we stayed overnight in Athens. Restaurant had a wide choice of Mediterranean food both appetizers, entrees and sandwiches. We both shared a appetizer ( baba ganoosh) had the salads with soup and sandwiches. We ate on the lighter side since we sat in the car all day. All the meals great.
