OMG!! The best Ramen we have had and so hard to forget!!! The flavour and spices were so good! Spice level 6!! Loved the firm noodle texture! If there is one reason to visit Japan again, it will be ICHIRAN!!!

Fun experience to order and sit down in solo cubicles. Just like the YouTube videos described. The broth was flavourful not too salty. Just right. we ordered the cheapest version for 980 Yen and added a hard boiled egg which was cold and you have...to peel the shell yourself which was a surprise but still OK. I only got 2 very thin slices of pork. I did like the noodles, quite chewy. One thing that was different from other ramen places was their vending machine did not have an English option. We had to get the Japanese lady behind us to help us translate so my suggestion is watch the YouTube videos to familiarize yourself All together a nice experience. Oh also they sell their ramen in a box for I believe 550Yen and thought of buying a couple. We should have because later on we went to the Nishiki Market and they were charging 900 Yen for the same box!More

I've been to Japan many times and I am a big fan of ramen. Prior to this place, my favourite had always been Fu'Unji in Tokyo, but this place (despite being a chain - heaven forbid!) was even better. You order your food in the...usual way via a ticket machine at the entrance, then you select a one-person cubicle and are served from a faceless server through a rolling blind. Any additional orders can me made from your seat (though this obviously violates the hygiene restriction that cash is only provided to the machine, rather than to your server). You also peel your own eggs, which is a rather odd quirk that you will not find at any other ramen place in the entire country. Anyway, despite all these slight oddities, the system works pretty well. But the main thing is that the ramen is the absolute best you'll ever have (sorry Fu'Unji) even though this is apparently a chain (when did you EVER have good food at a chain restaurant?!)More

Went on a recommendation for ramen. Was almost put off by the 45 minute wait…. but the Japanese love to queue! Glad we persevered. The order is taken by machine as you wait with preferences for heat if chilli, onions etc done on a tick...sheet. Food is served in individual cubicles with a hatch where your order is delivered. No need to talk to the waiter as there are wooden fobs you use for communication. The pork ramen was delicious… spicy without the need to go above level 3. Loved it. Great experience with tasty food at a cheap price.More

We went to Ichiran in Namba Osaka last January 2023, and it was my first time. I really like it that also went and tried the one in Kawaramachi Kyoto. This meal is really filling. It's really good if you're hungry.

Three of us - our first experience of ordering a meal with a vending machine. We must have done ok because our bowls of ramen were delicious. The eggs that came with it were amazing so we ordered more. It was such a cute little...place - we each got our own little booth with a water fountain and a peephole window through to the kitchen. I only wish I had enough room to try the matcha pannacotta. We got there around 5.30pm and didn't have to queue.More

Our first experience at Ichiran was great! The machine to order your ramen was super easy to use and had step by step instructions. The staff was very polite and friendly. When the ramen came out it was piping hot and absolutely delicious! You can...order extra sides to add to your ramen which came out very fast! This is a go to restaurant for ramen lovers! You will not be disappointed!More

Visited this ramen restaurant last week in Kyoto as I had read the reviews of this bring a great place. I was not disappointed. You use a vending machine type button system at the front door to order (pretty easy but staff are there to...help if needed). Then they take you to your seats. It’s a bar and stool (with back) layout with dividers for each person. You can pull the dividers back to see your partner (if you want haha). There is a sheet you circle some options you like such as spice level and would you like green or white spring onions or none at all. I chose green onions, medium spice and extra garlic plus extra pork. It was the best ramen I’ve ever had. The broth is thick and tasty too. They have a cold water dispenser on every table which is great too. We ended up going back the next night and then went again in Osaka. It’s a must go place and they have 2/3 in Kyoto to visit.More

We went here at around 5:30 PM for some Ramen as we had heard some good things about it. You order from the vending machine which by this time we had kind of gotten the hang of this, but the staff will help you if...not. We had to wait a bit as it was busy. Once seated you sit in a small stall. The Ramen was delicious and would definitely go again. When we left about 45 minutes later, the line was out the door, so timing for us was good.More

With the tight spaces and often limited wiggle room, dining in Japan, as an introvert, can sometimes be overwhelming. Don't get me wrong either. I love a good conversation with new people I meet, especially from different countries. But sometimes, there are those times where...I just want to be alone with my food. Enter: Ichiran. I love this place. Not just for their ramen, but for the dining experience. If you ever crave limited interaction with anyone, including wait staff, this is the place to do it. The line can get pretty long during prime hours, but which restaurant with quality food isn't? In the end - totally worth it. Enjoy.More

People might always say that Ichiran is overrated but we enjoy it so much that we had it again for the second time (the first time was in Tokyo). It only took around 4 minutes walk from Kawaramachi Station. The ordering method is still the...same with the vending machine. This Ichiran only offers the solo booth seating; there are 4 of us so we sat in 4 booths in a row. The taste is pretty much the same like the one we had in Tokyo. We ordered the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen as usual with extra marinated pork slices and boiled eggs on the side. The solo booth also provide our own personal water dispenser. We came at around 3.30pm so it wasn't really crowded and we could get 4 seats directly.More

I tried Ichiran Kyoto after Ichiran Shibuya (Tokyo), and I have to compare them. In Tokyo, Ramen was better cooked, broth was more tasty and the staff was more friendly and kind too. Anyway, Ramen was good, but not excellent!
