Udon are savory , it's really worth a stop. Their sort of reservation system is really nice so you won't have to wait in line for hours. Staff is very friendly which is rare for a restaurant this popular.

A bit of a line outside but the food is worth it! Really good udon soups and nice staff. Very good value for money as well!
If you hate waiting in line this is not your spot. However, they now give you a number and/or a letter on a card and you can come back 15 minutes before your allocated time. I showed up at 12:30 (not clever on my part!)...and I had a "reservation" for 2:15pm and was requested to show up at 2pm. I went for a nice walk to the shrine nearby and had a browse at some local shops nearby. Showed up at 2pm and was ushered into the inner sanctum. And the main event! Cold udon with vegetable tempura was for me absolutely fantastic. The udon are thick like ropes. I gobbled it down in no time and I am a big eater and I certainly left full. The staff are really kind and welcoming. Love the place, love the atmosphere, love the food and great value. What more can you ask for? If you like udon, wait and be grateful or walk on by....me, I am going back soon!More
My family and I waited for half an hour and the staff were so welcoming and friendly that they arranged the bar table for us and we could sit together. This is the best udon I have ever had. Try the cold udon as the...texture of the noodle can remain the same until you have finished the meal. I highly recommend you must try if you are udon lover.More
waited about an hour to be seated and eating and this was off peak hours during winter months. very friendly and welcoming staff. dont hv a lot of tastebuds so i cant judge the udon well enough but i liked it q a bit
I was so lucky ! It must be waited for an hour but I visited about 3pm.No line :) I had tasty Udon without delay. Yamagobo(durdock) is crispy and nutty! Bukake Udon(cold udon) is so elastic. I recommend that you have fried (yamagobo) with salt...(you ask staff a little bit salt) more nutty !! I paid about 970 yen. Not bad, almost same price with noddle set in Kyoto. It has about 10-15 seats. 9 seats are counter and 5seats are square table. Very small. But it is comfort and easy to enjoy meal even if i visit alone!More
We waited for around 1 hour! The line was very long and filled with both tourists and locals, which is a really good sign about the taste. We ordered one hot and one cold udon. The hot udon with burdock tempura was a bit spicy,...but the burdock tempura went really well with the soup. On the other hand, the cold udon was really refreshing and the vegetable tempura that came alongside it makes it taste really great with each and every single bite. Overall, the waiting time for us was very harsh, but the taste make it all worth it!More
We got the original, with spicy soup and burdock tempura, and a side of the chicken tempura with extra curry salt. While delicious, I firmly believe that to appreciate the noodle, you should have the noodles cold with dipping sauce. So it was a great...bowl of soup, with a perfect egg yolk in there, and dipping the tempura in was lovely, but if I had time to return, I would get the cold noodles, because his noodles are great. The spicy soup flavour was delicious, as was the burdock and chicken. I would say that it was not the best udon I have had, maybe because I got it hot. Best one I had was in Takamatsu, the home of udon. Make sure to get there by 10:15, because it says it opens at 11, but it seemingly opens earlier and by 10:30 you already have quite a line- we waited about one hour at that time.More
Though waiting for more than 2 hours, the texture of the udon and the taste of the soup just treat me a unforgettable flavour. It’s perfect and I have never had any udon better than theirs. It is a must-try in Kyoto. The staff in...the restaurants are considerate, they provided us both English and Chinese menu. They also offered us cups of tea while waiting. The chef is really nice, and came out from the kitchen and expressed his thanks to us. I therefore highly recommend this restaurant to all of you.More
Udon is chewy and super tasty.... the fried chicken is very good especially when mixed with kare soup..
