About
Kozan’s interior echoes the minimalist aesthetics of a classic Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant combined with a clean, modern design. Kozan, meaning ‘mountain’ in Japanese, was adopted in admiration of Mount Kinabalu, one of South East Asia’s highest mountains and an icon of Sabah. Chef de Cuisine, Ben Lee, leads a team of talented chefs offering quality produce in a creative way. Kozan offers both Teppan-yaki and a la carte dining along with a range of options from our Sake trolley and Kozan cocktails created by our bar team.

We ate here during our stay and the food was fantastic as was our chef. We had different set menus amongst the six of us which was no issue at all for the chef. The pace of each course was excellent never feeling hungry and never feeling too full. Dessert took a while to come out but was worth waiting for once it arrived. it's expensive but a nice treat.

The food at this restaurant is incredible quality and the chefs are amazing at what they do. The chef explained all the meals as he passed them over and the presentation was lovely. Everything tasted amazing and was very fresh. If we could have gone twice we would have! Well worth a visit

Chef was amazing. We ordered the set menu and the guy brought a massive heap of food. My mouth was watering! Salad, Hokkaido Scallops, Tiger Prawns, Grouper, Aussie rib eye steak, Garlic fried rice and Mango pudding. He heat up the oil and poured on the steak. Boom! Fire. Totally recommend.

My wife and I travel a lot and have dined at many Teppan-Yaki restaurants all around the world, but our experience here was not great, A Teppan-yaki should be a show lots of banter and fun with the chef this was not, We had finished in 45 minutes at a cost of £170 for the two of us, The food was ok but not fantastic not worth the money

Great experience on first visit. Thaedus was fantastic. What a chef, creative, informative, funny and a delicious cook and a joy to be with. I could go on forever, can we take him home please. I dislike Japanese food but this was so good, my own skills (not) with chow sticks improved in seconds. We would suggest to try the prawns, scallops, beef, veg’s plus rice of course. The Japanese pickles YUM. The second visit was ok but not as memorable as with Thaedus so we suggest you book and ask for him……but he won’t be there as we would have taken him home. The other thing we did not like is that they started to clear the unused tables and cling filmed a part of the cook area whilst we were still eating which made us feel rushed which this is something the hotel should take on board. But Thaedus we thank you.

We’re back for second time! We’re in love with the food they served. Always up to the standard. Special thanks to the Demi Chef Thadeus or Teddy who really interact with us a lot and shared his experience with us. We have had a good time at Kozan. Will come back again.

We dined here twice while staying at the Rasa Ria. We had lunch at the restaurant and an evening meal. The food was very good, and very well presented. The restaurant wasn't very busy at lunchtime but a little more so in the evening. I believe the menu was the same for both times of day. The children enjoyed watching the chef cook their salmon and vegetables. I had a slight niggle with this restaurant, and that was the price of the children's food...For the food they received (their salmon was the same size as ours) it was reasonably priced but really the children didn't need that much salmon and I felt they could serve less salmon and take down the cost of the childrens meal. Thank you to the member of staff who made origami cranes for the children.

We both ordered steaks, they were excellent. The experience was let down somewhat by the chef not interacting really, maybe he was not confident in English tho so not worth complaining about. We had a rare steak and a well done, both were cooked to perfection. The vegetables were very tasty. I would have expected the jasmine tea to be loose leaf tea and not a tea bag, that was a shame. Alcohol is expensive.

After waiting to have a nice teppanyaki as our last night meal as a special treat we were left absolutely speechless when the only thing we got from the chef was how do you want your stake I said medium please he then put my wife’s salmon on then my stake threw on some vegetables and produced the most expensive tasteless food I’ve had in all my travels around the world with out another word ,we felt it was a very poor reflection on Shangrila’s good name ,a sorry end to the hi light of our holiday

The chef went to great lengths to ensure there was no dairy in the meal. It was quite a show when the steak was cooked. The courses just kept coming. Excellent food and service.

Very expensive and very ordinary service. Chef hardly spoke to us let alone entertain us. For a Teppanyaki grill it is a little disappointing

It was my husband's 1st ever Teppanyaki and he was thrilled by the "Fire" show 😂 The kids meal came in a big portion but my kids are quite big eater to be able to polish off 3/4 was a feat. They told me it was yummy but too much. The adults love the special chef menu of takoyaki, chawamushi with foie gras, panfry tuna, Angus beef, fried fried with vegetables and miso soup. Dessert was a lovely mango creme brulee. Thank you for giving such a lovely food journey.
