Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came here for afternoon tea after checking in t Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu and really enjoyed the char siew pau and their coconut bun. The char siew pau was very moist and flavorful and the coconut bun was warm like it has been taken out from the oven. Price for the buns were also reasonable as well.

The three of us met up for the famous pau at this cafe. It has been open since 1984 which my friend said was testament to its quality. We ordered Tausa, polos and char Siew pau. I especially liked the char Siew pau for the quality of the pastry and filling. My coffee was delicious also.

Visited last year during Raya. Kept walking to the store only to find it closed for a few days. Waited for 4 days and it finally was opened! Sadly, the infamous Polo Pau wasn't that great. Was disappointed :( It's fluffy but it doesn't taste like the Polo Pau we usually eat.

Still love to come back for their hot buns especially for their Butter-milk and Peanuts Buns that are great while being served hot.

Their peanut and black bean buns are dairy free (that's what they told me). At $0.50 Australian cents each, they're a steal. Super fluffy, delicious, sweet delights. I had an Iced coffee without milk. Also very nice. They had a self serve buffet style servery as well which is also super cheap. Included some noodles, tofu dishes and some types of seafood. Around AU$1.80 for the buffet including an Iced coffee.

If you're coming to KK for a visit, can't miss out this restaurant! 1. Polo bun is a must to try! (RM1.50 per bun) 2. Dry beef noodle is superb (RM8) 3. Try their variety of desserts too. Different desserts on different days. I tried their barley with beancurd. such a comfort food! 4. Fast service and clean place

I stopped off here for some pastries on a Saturday morning whilst in KK. Pineapple tart and the red bean bun were both very good, Tried again on the Sunday but there was a crazy queue at 8am in the morning (because of the morning market in Jalan Gaya) so I decided against waiting. I'll no doubt try again next time.

We stayed at nearby Mecure Kota Kinabalu City Centre (15/7/19 - 17/7/19. ) Everytime we pass by this place, we've seen long lines being formed for their steam & baked items, so definitely we had to give it a try. They have quite an extensive list of bake & steam buns/pastries/tarts on the menu but because they are not actually a bakery, what is available is only what they could churn out at the moment you are there. That's means they have probably 35% of items available at any single moment. Over the 2 days and at the time we were queuing, we've only managed to try their Egg Tart, Polo Bun & steam Peanut Bun as these were our usual favourites. Sadly to say it didn't turn out quite as good - flavours were very subtle & somehow very unsatisfying and fillings definitely not enough. Despite the prices being relatively cheap it was definitely not worth the time.

Stopped here for the pineapple tarts whilst visiting Kota Kinabalu for the weekend. Surprisingly decent and I think some of the best I've had. Definitely worth a stop.

Like most coffee shops in the area, it's clean. It was bustling with customers chowing down local delights like noodles and timsum dumplings. I had a bowl of beef noodles that was decent. It was better than the pork noodles, but beef is always my thing.

Just went to try the bao, porridge and kueh tiau soup. The food and bao are a bit salty. I tried the bbq bao and polo bao, not really good. My hometown bao even better than this. Can skip. Try somewhere else.

The shop sell good valued food compared to similar restaurants nearby. The little cheaper price, equal if not better in taste, all showing the warm-heart of the owner. This is the place where visited by both locals and tourists alike. The Xi Pao (BBQ pork steamed bun) and Big Buns are very good valued. Seafood and pork noodles are also very good choice. Remember to come early. They sell off everything fast.
