About
Kebaya is the dining room of the Seven Terraces and is open to hotel guests and the public. Open daily, 6pm till 10pm. Christopher Ong has worked with the hotel’s chefs to create a menu of a new approach to Classic Straits Chinese Nyonya dishes. They have refined these using French cooking techniques and innovative products to deliver surprising new twists on this already fascinating cuisine. The effect is simple, delicious full of flavor and dazzling. A four-course degustation menu of entrée, mains, vegetables and dessert is served in Chinese 'family-style' to allow guests to share the dishes.

Kebaya Dining Room is a gem in the heart of Georgetown, offering a truly memorable dining experience. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a beautiful blend of colonial and Peranakan-inspired decor that sets an elegant yet welcoming tone. The menu is a wonderful showcase of refined Peranakan and Southeast Asian flavors. Each dish is a creative take on traditional recipes, beautifully plated, and thoughtfully balanced in flavor. The Asam Pedas and Beef Rendang are standouts—rich, flavorful, and with just the right amount of spice. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to make thoughtful recommendations, ensuring a smooth and personalised experience. What really sets Kebaya Dining Room apart is their attention to detail and dedication to quality, from the fresh ingredients to the beautiful presentation of each dish. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Georgetown, Kebaya is the perfect place for a special meal that’s both delicious and memorable. Highly recommend!

This is our second time dining in Kebaya. It was as good an experience as before. It caters very much to tourists as prices are high relative to what one can enjoy in other Peranakan restaurants in term of food quality. However, given the local currency exchange rate, one would still find it ok for the experience of dining in very nice Peranakan decor and good service.

Absolutely fabulous restaurant from decor to the staff to the food. We were a group of 10 and ordered several different dishes for each course to compose our own tasting menu. Normally, you can order a 3 or 4-course meal with lots of selections for each course. We found our solution perfect! Everyone was so happy with the choices and each dish was beautifully prepared and presented. The service staff was also perfect -- friendly, helpful (they're the ones who suggested we order a large variety to compose a 'tasting menu') and the wine list is reasonably priced with wine also available by the glass.

They live by the Michelin Guide logo. We had dinner with my partner and I and the only thing we liked was dessert. passion fruit ice cream. My Recommendation is that you eat at street stalls are very quality and very cheap. Malaysian street stalls are not like those in Thailand. We paid 80€ (I already knew I had that price) but for what I ate I do not recommend it. Stop curried lamb, my prawn couple with lemon and two vegetable starters.

The experience from making a reservation, to trying all their beautifully crafted dishes was stress free and so pleasant. We arrived as a family of five and tried a few of the mains which came with protein and greens. These mains were definitely for sharing as the portions were more than the usual single serve, and the set comes with either an appetiser or dessert (or both if you choose the 3-course). The flavours were strong but dishes were not salty. We especially loved the assam fish and sambal brinjal the most! We were so full by the end of dinner :)

Fine dining Peranakan (Fusion) . If you’re expecting an Authentic Peranakan Meal ; you’ll be disappointed . We ordered the following dishes from the set menu : pie tee , otak puff , beef buah keluak , braised duck , sayor lemak , sambal egg plant & yang yuan . Hits - otak puff; braised duck ; sayor lemak Misses - pie tee ; beef buah keluak ; sambal egg plant and yang yuan Service was ok ; could have been more attentive The ambiance was wonderful. The Quality of the food did not justify the price

A beautifully decorated restaurant in a heritage hotel. Their was live music on old instrument being played. The set course was delicious but too much for us, so make sure you leave room. Our entree of otak otak was a hit and the crab roll which you make yourself was interesting. Our mains of duck and lamb shank were beautifully cooked and the curried vegetables had great flavour. Our waiter Dinesh was an excellent host and explained the meals and how to eat (or mix) certain things together. An enjoyable final night in Penang.

We have been visiting many nice restaurants in Georgetown, but our dinner at Kebaya stands out as a unique experience. The curation of the interior in the bar and the restaurant is unique and creates a fantastic ambience. The food and beverages is of high standard, and the craft beer menu the best in Georgetown. The service and advice is oustanding and the headwaiter Dinesh even took time to show us the attached Seven Terraces Hotel courtyard, art and vintage Rolls Silver Shadow. We truly felt that he loved the place and the unique story about the restoration of the building. A memorable experience and Mr. Dinesh a great Ambassador.

Set Perenakan dinner served within a beautifully decorated dining hall within old Georgetown terraces. Live music, great bar for pre dinner cocktails. Delicious traditional dishes served with style and good location for an evening stroll after dinner through the old town. Nice for a special restaurant dinner after eating our way through a week of wonderful food in the streets of Penang.

A new industrial accident following Michelin recommendations... This restaurant has nothing to do, except to please a few so-called 'enlightened' expans." For a Micheli, it 'hurt him': *We bring you all the drinks at the same time (aperitif cocktail, mineral water, beer with the meal, etc. All that was missing was the tea!) *the cocktails are 80% composed of water: the Dry Matini came from Lourdes?? Ideal diuretically (Unappreciated in terms of addition..) *The dishes are ultra-sweet, without much taste interest. We also ignored the starters, pitiful stuff reheated in the microwave. In summary: avoid if you like the real cuisines of these regions. Otherwise... hmmm. ...otherwise...enjoy..

Visited on 30 September after reviews seen on TA. Took an extremely cheap Grab from the E&O. The restaurant is part of the 7 Terraces Hotel and is an extremely sympathetic conversation of seven former Shop Houses. We did not book but were lucky to get a table. The waiting staff were first class and we enjoyed our Nonya dishes from the set menu that had a slightly European twist. The prawns were particularly good and my wife enjoyed the very generous lamb shank. The wine was very keenly priced and with coffee our bill was just under £100. All in all very satisfied.

Came here for my birthday dinner during our 10 day holiday in Penang. From the moment we entered the dining room we knew we had made a great choice. Dinesh served us all evening and suggested all our dishes - they were perfect. Once he knew it was my birthday he organised a birthday desert and they all sang Happy Birthday to me. The food was outstanding (the best we’ve had in Penang) and the service was impeccable. If you want exquisite food and a wonderful ambience you need to dine here!! Thank you to Dinesh and all the staff for making my birthday so wonderful. We will be back!!

Kebaya offers delicious food and is a must for anyone visiting Penang. The dining room offers an opportunity to step back in time to another world of bygone years. Dining at Kebaya is an experience, one to be savoured as much for the quality of the meal as the ambience of the surroundings. The staff are attentive, the menu offers highlights of the local cuisine, and it is all very reasonably priced. Visit and enjoy the experience!

The God stuff Background music and decor was like a scene from Merry Xmas Mr Lawrence - very relaxing. Staff helpful and friendly. Food was tasty and lightly spiced. The main prawn and pomfret dishes were generous and good quality What could be better The menus (handled by hundreds of customers) sat on top of the plates. Really not hygenic in a rising Covid country Starter satay dish was child sized as was the passion fruit desert. Shame as later was delicious 3 of the 4 dishes arrived, the 4th 5mins later (better to hold in the kitchen till all were ready) 😊 Overall a pleasant ding experience.

Can not remember when we last ate a meal so good. Started with pulled rendang beef croque monsieur and satay chicken, went on to a prawn Thai type curry with aubergine and mango salad sides. All absolutely delicious and in an antique Georgetown setting with fantastic service. Good value too. Pretty much impossible to fault.
