We went to siam corner because it looked like a Thai place in an otherwise very touristy neighbourhood. Sadly it did not deliver the true Thai cuisine for us. They even got my order wrong and when I told them (right when it reached the...table) but they could not have cared less!More
Near the golden Clock Tower and near Walking Street, this is a nice little restaurant. The waitress wasn’t overly friendly but my order was taken quickly and the food arrived quickly.
I ordered the Thai Omelette and a Pineapple Smoothie. Both were nice.
The restaurant...itself is a little run down but I was here for the food, not the decor!
Good for breakfast.More
slightly larger than most restaurants in this party strip; huge menu, good service;
thai food that i know well was good; thai and western food
overall 4.5 stars considering the overall dining experience; seating outside streetside or inside covered;
We rarely eat at "tourist" restaurants, opting for the real Thai joints with no "farangs" in sight. But we wanted something a little different to celebrate a birthday. The first place we chose from Trip Advisor's listings of vegetarian friendly places was out of business,...and so we ended up here. The have a page dedicated for that purpose. She chose Red Curry Vegetables, with a big pile of veggies (rice was 20 Baht extra). She said there was a good variety of veggies, but the flavor was nothing special (considering this was red curry). I ordered Pineapple Fried Rice, subbing tofu instead of chicken and shrimp. It, too, was OK, but not great flavor. I was perplexed that they didn't chop the scallion stem into the dish. I will admit that I've never ordered this dish IN Thailand before, so I don't have a lot of experience. But back home this dish will have a pronounced curry flavor. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices were about double what you would pay outside the tourist ghetto, but not unreasonable.More
For a tourist town, options for a good, inexpensive English breakfast are light on deck in Chiang Rai. Soi Jedyod may be pumping at night, but most of the people here seem to be asleep during the breakfast hours. On the busier Soi Phahon Yothin,...you’ll find brasserie-style bistros, the odd pizzeria and a few Thai-oriented Ma and Pa-type eateries. Surprisingly then, Siam Corner occupies something of a niche. The service is fast and the WiFi works. The breakfast is good enough but nothing spectacular. Would I go back? Yes, because the alternatives are limited.More
Just passed by and made the orders and were positively surprised by getting served a large and tasty portion of Paenang Curry with Rice and a wellcooked porkchop with mashed potatoes, carrots, sweet peas and mushrum sauce. This restaurant is highly recommendable.
