I went with 3 other family members yesterday for brunch around 11AM. the place was packed and the wait around 40 minutes. We were able to purchase Mimosos and a bloody mary during the wait for $8 each.Once seated, service was good despite how incredibly busy they were. I chose a breakfast wrap which resebled a breakfast burrito which was outstanding, My 3 guests all chose variations of egg Benedicts which all enjoyed accompanied by has browns. If you have never gone, please give it a try.

we sat at the counter and really enjoyed talking with anyone who was behind the counter. The food is eclectic and right on the money. A lot of thought goes out to the wonderful meals they put out. I wouldn't bring a picky eater here, only adventurous ones would really enjoy it!

Reliable, fast, and delicious. Even has great music. What more can you ask? I've been a regular for several years. Their lines are always long but the wait is always shorter than you'd expect. A lot of the times the wait is much shorter than what they tell you. Food comes out fast and it's always delicious. My wife and I love to come here, almost every 2-3 weeks. We get the John Denver (eggs, bacon, and hollandaise sauce over cornbread with home fries) every time, and usually some kind of eggs Benedict dish (their specials change frequently). If you're visiting the area and need a brunch place, or if you live in the area and just have never been, I wholeheartedly recommend checking this place out. It's easily my #1 pick for brunch by a wide margin, even compared to some of the places I've been to in larger cities.

After being introduced to Iron Gate by a local earlier this year, we had breakfast here twice during our most recent visit to Albany - once in the back courtyard and once in the front garden courtyard. Both outdoor options are very pleasant indeed, and service from both servers was very attentive and friendly.
The food is plentiful and fantastic, whether an egg dish or a sweet item like pancakes or french toast. There are several vegetarian options, BUT you can swap out sausage for impossible vegetarian sausage to greatly expand the number of vegetarian options. This easy accommodation is much appreciated.
Highly recommend this restaurant. It’s absolutely worth the wait (it’s very popular) for a delicious meal and great dining experience!

Large vegan menu, but something for meat eaters too! Lovely brownstone home turned into dining rooms - felt like I was in a Victorian home. Fast and friendly service and able to seat groups of 6 (maybe even 8).
The 1/2 sandwich and soup was delicious and the sandwich was so large I couldn’t imagine how huge the “whole” sandwich would be!
A variety of teas and coffees also available.

We were in Albany for an unexpected stop and found the Iron Gate Cafe for breakfast. What a pleasure!
The atmosphere was great - the older building, the music, the energy - all was good. The service was very pleasant and the food was delicious. My husband had one of the benedicts and I had the omelet with apples, cheese, and bacon with greens on the side.
This was the best place for a nice, comfortable breakfast and if in the vicinity, we would definitely do this again!

Make reservations it will be packed and backed up. We opted for takeout. Service was friendly.
I got a Groupon 9.00 for 20.00 worth of food.
Takeout took a half hour.
I wanted eggs florentine Benedict. The turkey sausage patties were barely edible and somewhat weird tasting. One poached egg was over cooked.
Spinach was kinda slimey, not cooked right. I kept gagging on it.
Avacado Toast was very good. Perfectly poached egge and delicious mash and salsa.

The back patio was full so we asked if we could eat in the front patio. We were immediately accommodated and brought coffees. I had a spinach and mushroom omelette with home fries. It was stellar! The spinach was added to the eggs so its flavor was in most bites. The mushrooms were sautéed and were both beautiful and delicious. The home fries were cooked perfectly. Even my toast was outstanding! I had enough food to have breakfast the next morning.
My friend had the poached eggs on avocado toast. She said it was all delicious. Our service was outstanding and we were able to take our time without feeling rushed. If I lived near here, I’d be a regular!

I had heard about this cafe from family and friends but today I went and experienced it for myself. First, it stays full. Call ahead and put your name on the waitlist. We did not and had an hour wait (which was fine for us today). Next, customer service is great. The staff is pleasant and professional. Foid came fairly quickly and it was DELECTABLE. I was in a group of six and each person thoroughly enjoyed what they ordered. We recommend the following:
Brie French Toast, Mother Clucker, Black Bean Burger, Ultimate Vegan Sandwich, and pancakes…
I left full and wanting more… I will be back again and again!

We were passing through Albany and saw the Iron Gate Cafe has good ratings so we stopped in for breakfast/lunch. EVERYONE working there was incredibly nice and friendly. The place is very cool, charm and unique items everywhere you look.
I had the breakfast burrito and it’s funny to say this, but you know when you get one from most places you get one item as a time as you work through it (nite 1 and 2 eggs, bite 3 avocado, bite 4 potatoes etc)? Not here, I swear they layered everything out so every bite was a delicious combo of everything, they clearly cared when making it!!! We also had a French toast breakfast sandwich that we loved.
And even tho they got caught in a random Monday mid morning rush so they were having to hustle to serve everyone the server was awesome, never seemed rushed (even tho you could hear the hustle in her speed walking ha). Seriously this place is absolutely top notch in food, service and atmosphere. I rarely do reviews but this place was truly inspiring.

Perfect breakfast/brunch spot hidden in a quiet alcove in a busy city. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, and the home fries some of the best I've had. Bacon delicious, cooked crispy. Both inside and patio dining available. Well worth the hassle of parking on city street. Service was prompt, friendly and personable. Ambiance relaxing and quaint.

Delicious brunch. Pleasant outdoor seating with friendly service. We had a twenty five minute wait for a table on a Saturday around noon. The food was delicious, including eggs benedict with avocado and black bean fritter, eggs benedict on sweet potato, and stuffed french toast. All really good. Would definitely go back.

Iron Gate Cafe has a great range of delicious food for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. Dishes are creative, well made, and super tasty. Service was excellent and the environment is quite beautiful.

Severl weeks ago I decide to go to the Irongzte Cafe for breakfast I was a little early, but Kevin the owner ws kind enough to let me in and I sat in the courtyard until it opened. It was certainly worth the wait. Had the special pineapple rim upside down pancakes. What a great call! I also had a side of bacon, and of course my nectar of the Gods, a mimosa. The always delightful Sam waited on me. Sat in the back courtyard. It was surreal, Just a wonderful way to start the day. After waking up this is the second best thing that happened. Thanks again Sam

This place is really great!
Didn’t know what to expect, got there on a Saturday and had a 20-25 min wait. It was totally worth it! The hostess was really nice and we got two seats at a small counter while we waited. Had espressi and enjoyed the busyness of the crowd.
Really big building with two different dining rooms.
I asked to change tables because of the seating situation and was accomplished right away.
Our server was cool and totally on her game.
Food was fresh and delicious! Prices were very reasonable.
I hope to return here again!
