It's probably the best restaurant in Israel, imho. Starters, and main dishes are really exceptional, it was a nice flavor trip. Deserts are good, but not anything special. Moreover, the restaurant doesn't have the atmosphere of a gastro restaurant, there are not even napkins on...the table.More

We arrived at the Herbert Samuel Herzliya with enthusiasm and great expectations, as would be expected of a restaurant located at a Ritz Carlton. We were a party of 11 celebrating my sister-in-law's 50th birthday. The moment we arrived, I quietly advised the hostesses who...the birthday girl was and requested as much 'hoopla' as possible. They smiled, thanked me for letting them know and said, all good, with pleasure (my words, their message). Our table was next to one of two doors that let to the balcony with other diners. The other door did not open to any tables. From the start, other guests but mostly wait staff, continuously ran in and out, bringing a gust of wind with each passing, and never quite closing the door following exit or entry, causing a draft each time. The wait staff apologized but continued their revolving door policy anyway, against our habitual, respectful protests. Dinner: our meals were average in flavor, very small in portion and WAYY overpriced for the deliverable. I understand in a high end restaurant portions are not large. This went beyond small though. Also, one of the elements that make fine dining special is the ambiance. There was none here. It was noisy, there was no beautiful background music, and the table settings, cutlery, napkins and drinking glasses were average at best. Honesty: My thin adult son asked our waiter to recommend the most filling main course. The waiter recommended the 220 NIS lambchops. I am afraid this turned out to be misleading. In comparison to the other main courses we ordered that evening, it certainly was not the most filling of the options, just the most expensive. I asked if the lemonade was freshly made. He said it was. Turns out, it wasn't. Side note: My daughter ordered lemonade too. After waiting patiently for 20 minutes with no lemonade in sight, she asked again. Finally, to bring this full circle, this was supposed to be a 50th birthday celebration. I expected to see something special from the restaurant. There was NOTHING. No little special something during the meal. No little sweet with a candle or sparkler at the end. Our bill was 2300 NIS without tip. You would think that the staff would have had the class to make this a night to remember in a positive way. Sadly, it was anti-climatic and disappointing, which I expressed, with respect, upon my departure. I've had very positive experiences at other Ritz Carlton restaurants around the world. However, if you have a celebration coming up and are looking for something wonderfully delicious and spectacular - the Herbert Samuel Herzliya is not the place.More

Supposed to be one of the best places to eat out, but was not up to expectations. The setting is nice, not exceptional, after a long wait the food arrived, the fish was delicious and other dished were poor. Expensive, fair.

We were 2 couples arriving to this 'famous 'restaurant in Herzliya, at the Ritz Carlton hotel. We were full of expectations. But from the moment that we ordered the food we noticed that the waiter was not very interested in providing us a proper service....And lo and behold it was one of the worse experiences that we have encountered in a restaurant in Israel. After a while I called on the manager of the place who spoke to the waiter in question and whom thereafter decided to stop attending to us completely. As a result of that neither food nor requests were attended timeously or properly. I am not going to write a full complaint page on our experience but suffice to say that it was a real bad one. On our way out we mentioned all what happened to us to the lady in attendance at the entrance of the restaurant, but she just shrugged her shoulders !! We are 70 years old and we are avid travelers all over the world and never we have been treated with such rudeness and careless attitude at a fine restaurant as this is one is claiming to be.More

We enjoyed a plentiful, hot and tasty Friday night dinner at the Herbert Samuel. It was expensive, but no more so than every other hotel Friday night dinner in Israel. For a relatively small restaurant there was food aplenty and the atmosphere was less frenetic...than in other Israeli hotels. I'd have liked to have had soft drinks included in the price of the meal but otherwise it was excellent.More

I had dinner last evening with friends. The restaurant itself is located in a lovely hotel, the Ritz-Carlton Herzliya. The restaurant is nicely appointed with a view of Herzliya Marina. There is an open kitchen in the back. Seats near the kitchen are way too...loud and noisy. We ordered one appetizer, white asparagus, and each of our party of four ordered fish. One ordered branzino with vegetables, the other three ordered Mediterranean Sea Bass, known locally as Levrak. First the good. The food was really good and beautifully presented, the server was most attentive, informative and knowledgeable. Now for the bad. Everything on the menu is a la carte which is OK. The portions are ridiculously small for the price that you pay. If you subtract the good, but over-priced bottle of white wine (Tavor Sauvignon Blanc). The bill came to $55.00 per person. The portions of sea bass were about 4 ounces each. This fish costs fresh at the market, approximately $15.00 per pound. The Branzino also at the fish market, is more expensive, but not that much more expensive. The asparagus appetizer consisted of 5-6 very slim sticks of white asparagus, a piddling amount for the price, which was about $16.50. In short, this is what I would call a snobs restaurant that wants to be elegant, exclusive and pricey. I do not have and never will have a problem paying a good price for a good meal. I am not one of those people that insists upon mammoth quantities of food at any meal. That said, I expect to be presented with a reasonably priced portion especially at these prices. The bottom line, the food is good but overpriced, and that is why I give it a rating of two. At these prices, you can eat just as well for much less. I will not return, and felt bad for my guests.More
