Incredible food! Very knowledgeable staff who can talk you through the menu down to the very specifics of each dish. The service was efficient and excellently friendly. Would 100% return to this restaurant. Not overpriced - if you’re in the area I would highly recommend you visit!

Walked in off the street. Nice style and fit out above the busy man street. Staff are very good. Service was the highest standard. An interesting menu that blends traditional Indonesian with some nice changes. You do get the best of both worlds. The dumplings and soft shell crab for a starter were terrific. The spicy salad a winner. A very well cooked pork belly accompanied with a turmeric sauce and a rendang were excellent. There is clearly well trained with well executed kitchen and front of house staff. Each meal was really well constructed. The Spanish tempranilo at 350K was one the best bargains at a restaurant on the Island in three weeks. The menu is such that you can have something small or go the full hog. Whilst not cheap there is real value here. A$100 with wine is pretty good for this quality.
I really enjoyed Spice and hope to return. I can really recommend this cool venue.

Casual atmosphere for a truly delightful fine dining experience. The set/suggested menus are very good value and not too gut bustingly large which you don't want in a humid climate. Staff were attentive and informative, great aircon and friendly atmosphere - I will definitely return. Probably the best meal we had in 10 days! Obviously the food was delicious, fresh and presented artistically using local flavours and garnishes. We loved it!

Chris Salans is one of international chef who stay in Ubud. His restaurant serves the customers with their best materials, taste and service. Indonesian or western food both are yummy. For local food, he put modern style in the way of cooking and serving. The price is reasonable for Bali and its quality. Recommended for vegetarian as well. one of a must try in Ubud.

In Bali for a week recently and searching for decent restaurants along the way in Ubud. We discovered “Spice” - the name may scare some customers away unfortunately but the restaurant and staff were so great we ate there 3 of the 5 nights we had and wish we had more time. There salad is exquisite, the Korean bbq ribs, fish and deserts were incredible. Such undiscovered talent along a roadway of subpar restaurants.
We loved every bite and waiters, bartenders were all very friendly. Don’t miss going to Spice, I wanted to stand outside and tell people to come in, but I figured they would think I was crazy.

We sat upstairs from where we could watch our dishes being prepared in the kitchen below. Staff delightful and wanting us to be happy. We chose crab cakes, then barramundi, then pineapple cake. All were delicious. And as others have said the wine here is much better value than elsewhere. You won’t be disappointed.

We visited on a recommendation from another guest at the hotel and we were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and had great knowledge of the menu. We ordered three courses each ((soft shell crab, beef carpaccio, seared chicken breast, beef braised in rending spices, apple crumble and pandas custard cream)) all dishes were cooked to perfection and very tasty. The beef was so tender it fell apart. The accompanying herbs were so full of flavour. Had we discovered this place earlier in our holiday there would be no doubt we would have returned.

What an experience when in Ubud not to miss. The Spice by Chris Salans took us on a flavour journey we will never forget. The food was brilliantly made and served and the food was a fusion of local cuisine and passion for cooking combined with quality ingredients. This is a restaurant that you can’t wait to visit again. The staff were gentle, interactive and friendly who explained every dish. How it was made, where it comes from and what ingredients were used. This restaurant is a definite come back next time is Bali and a must do thing. If I could put 10 stars, I would.

Loved this bright, slick and modern restaurant overlooking the main road in Ubud. The food we ate was delicious with a modern twist on Indonesian food. Perfectly balanced, every flavour shone through without being dominated by excess chili. Staff were wonderfully attentive and polite. A joy to experience. Thank you everyone at "Spice".

It was great sitting up at the bar watching the night life in the Main Street. Tamarind sour and a Prost for happy hour do all good. Dumplings entree was beautiful. My Rendang with vegetables was tasty but quite mildly spiced, while the brisket was pretty much without much flavour at all. With competition like Nusasantara and Sacred Rice etc... they would need to hit the basic checkpoints with flavour. Would give it another try.

Beef rendang and chicken curry were entirely forgettable! Beef was cooked well but had no flavour and came with a teaspoon of gravy. Chicken curry was watery and harsh. Worst meal we had in five days. And 800 thousand... go to hojun locale instead

A friend of mine highly recommend it and I’ve been there to try how great it is. Chef Chris Salans - one of the most famous chefs in Indonesia, owns this restaurant. I tried Crispy Pork Belly and Warm Baked Apple Pie. The dessert is pretty delicious. The taste of sour and sweet is balanced. Vanilla bean ice cream is not too sweet, and it’s perfect 👌🏼 . Pork Belly with dukkah spice, tossed cauliflower tasted a little bit sour but good. Pork is soft, the skin is crispy. The price is not cheap but it’s a must try restaurant when coming to Ubud.

We visited for lunch during Covid time and it was very quiet.
Staff were very good, helpful and could not do enough for us. Food was exactly as it was laid out in the menu and delicious.
Would recommend the croquettes as a starter and we had the pork belly and chicken curry for mains, again both very good.
They have a few cocktails on the menu, Timun Mas was very fresh and refreshing, had to have another.
Definitely worth a visit, prices reasonable for this sort of venue.

We had a great dinner at Spice! Excellent food and great service! We had one member of our party who didn't feel very well, so she hadn't finished her plate, then a stafmember came and offered her a homemade ginger drink to make her feel better, which she felt after a while. We also got to take home an extra drink for a family member who stayed at home. And when we got the bill , they deducted the meal which we had not finished . I call that service!! We will definitely be back when we come to Ubud!!

My husband and I discovered the restaurant while walking down the street, and we were very glad we did. I ordered a tofu patty (very generous serving) and my husband vegetable curry. Both were delicious, service was good, and the bill was reasonable. If I lived in Ubud, I would visit again.
