We stayed in Ubud for 5 nights and ate at Ibu Rai 5 times. Lunch and dinner. The atmosphere is beautiful with the tables decorated lovely. The staff go above and beyond to greet you when you walk in. It was interesting reading about the history and life of Ibu Rai as well. The menu and drunks selection is amazing. I loved the spring rolls and rice paper rolls. The duck and steak were delicious as was the tortellini and mixed grilled seafood platter. Our waitress Cicha was so accommodating and polite and took time to get to know us. She even remembered what my favourite cocktail was each time. The beautiful crafted door is an attraction as well. We highly recommend Ibu Rai for delicious food at very reasonable prices.

Lovely atmosphere and delicious food. The owner was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We had the duck curry and beef redang both of which were delicious! We don’t usually order desserts but we seen some come out to other tables that looked fab so we ordered the coconut pie and chocolate! Both homemade and delicious!

This is on the main monkey forest road Street. It is a beautiful restaurant with lovely atmosphere, good lighting but still romantic, plants and statues. No stairs. We have been there many times over the past 15 years except for the pandemic. We love it and the food is very good except this time there were chicken bones in my dish that I had ordered and the lady next to us also ordered a chicken dish and said hers had bones in it also. The particular night that we will recently went the manager was not there and obviously when the cat is away the mice will play. The bathroom had toilet paper which was out and needed to be picked up and it was not a crowded night. We will return to this restaurant again I just want to order anything with chicken in it that's a liquid. The alcoholic drink was very good Fair priced and they gave you an apple pour.

First of all, what I learned from Gordon is if the menu in a foreign country includes pizza, burgers, pasta + native cuisine - skip it. But we were starving so we picked this place because it looked cute from the outside. Everything looked like it came from a box + my seafood platter with mashed potatoes was COLD and floating in a pool of oil. They took it back and re heated it in the microwave. It was horrendous and literally there are so many amazing food places in Ubud - just skip this one completely.

The service at Ibu Rai is unfortunately its major downfall. During an early dinner with only two other couples present, there were seven staff working who were inattentive, apathetic and did not show a great deal of initiative. The food was OK, but the restaurant looks generally tired and lacks atmosphere (broken signage, toilet door, no music etc). Quite disappointing from memory of previous visits to Ibu Rai.

So disappointed! Ibu Rai has been a go to restaurant for us when we come to Ubud for nearly 15 years. We visited 2 days ago and were “greeted” by very grumpy staff who wanted us to sit at the very back of the restaurant and were quite indignant when we asked to sit at the front so we could watch the world go by. We ordered mie goreng, spring rolls and calamari all of which were very disappointing. The mie goreng tasted like they had just added half a bottle of soy sauce over instant noodles. Unfortunately for us it will be goodbye Ibu Rai for us for a while, there are way too many fantastic food options in Ubud now to choose from.

From the moment you see the fairy light hearts and lanterns, you know you have arrived at Ibu Rai. The ambiance here is just lovely, dark woods and red lanterns adorn the interior and offer instant comfort or evening candlelit romance. The menu is very diverse, from Balinese to steak, seafood and pasta, Ibu Rai has it all and is reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

Walking by noticed fresh spring rolls and potato leek soup on the menu. Spring rolls were small portions and the tips while a gray concept tasted bland. The leek soup however was excellent. Yes, as solo diner was exported to the back despite open tables up front. Staff was very professional and friendly. As such, not surprisingly with mixed reviews. There are so any amazing places to eat in Ubud, if looking for slightly more formal dining, nicely ambiance, old fashion attentive service aka traditional restaurant this might be your place.

This Ubud icon restaurant always delivers consistently good food & service with great lighting & ambience. We really couldn’t fault the calamari fritti, beef rendang, sirloin steak, deconstructed apple pie, crème caramel or sangria’s. Also, it’s happy hour all day everyday for certain drinks giving you two for the cost of one. Service was on point & pricing very good for Ubud. We’ll certainly see you again next time we’re in town.

It was our first time dining at Ibu Rai after the friendly staff at our hotel recommended us this restaurant as it was a stunning stone's throw away from where the hotel. As we were there late afternoon, therefore it was not very crowded. The restaurant has a long history of serving fine food that ranges from Balinese, Asian to Western. We ordered Kare Bali which is curry chicken served with fragrant Ubud rice, however I was amazed that the curry though deliberately light was full delightfully flavourful unlike traditional curry which tend to have thicker viscosity. The Rendang Sapi Padang was equally delightful when you chase it with the 3 different types of sambal chilli. Our child had Spaghetti Bolognese which he truly savoured. Do try the Avocado Juice which goes very well with chocolate sauce. Service was prompt and genuinely friendly. Ibu Rai definitely deserves a return visit the next time we're in Ubud. Bravo! 👏👏

I came here many times to eat during my stay in Ubud. The food, drinks, and service are all excellent. They hosted our retreat group of 15 people in the back area and were very accommodating. Love the lemon grass coriander drink and the honey ginger chicken special. Beautiful setting as well.

Beautiful work of dishes presentation which is so lacking here but lacks flavors. Vietnamese nem seemed to be surimi and not shrimp. The grilled seafood dish was well presented and composed but tasteless. So sad. After making this remark to the server when he asked me about the feeling of the dish, he did not return to my table and shunned. The back room, a garden with a few tables is deserted and yet so quiet and far from the noise of the road. Take a look.

Very good address, nice setting, you have to be patient because there is often a queue. Happy hours from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. For a change, my choice fell on a piece of beef which had nothing to envy of our French restaurants. Traditional and varied dishes For 5 people double aperitif, starters, main courses and dessert for 2,000,000 rp, certainly there is less expensive but the quality is there Beautiful presentation I recommend…..

Great to be able to get back to Ibu Rai after no travel for the last few years. Headed straight here with a travel buddy who hadn't eaten there before - after the first meal she wanted to eat there every day! The food is consistently great with very fresh ingredients and tasty condiments at a VERY GOOD price. There are lots of expensive restaurants in Ubud but this is not one of them. Has been in Ubud for many many years and has long term staff including chef.
