delicious mushroom masala

Very good Mughal Restaurant

One of the finest non veg restaurants in Mangalore that serves Halal food. We had one vegetarian among us and he too got his wishes served, among the dishes of non veg, specially Mutton and chicken that we ordered. Good ambience and courteous staff. Good location. Open only for lunch and dinner. Parking is difficult.

Royal Darbar serves the greatest feast I must say . The food took another level with different types of tandoors and Tikkas, so well cooked in the wonderful ambience located at the heart of Mangalore. It was just an amazing experience. The Soup needs a special appreciation as it totally won my heart million times. The service and hospitality again gets all my appreciation. A must visit when in Mangalore

Horrible service

Two stars is a bit generous if you ask me. Their food is great but their service is the worst I have experienced in Mangalore. We have been there thrice but I think this latest visit will be the last for sure. The quality of service is slowly but surely declining and it won't be long before people rely on delivery so they don't have to visit the restaurant and be ignored. The staff are friendly enough but it seems like they haven't been trained for a situation where two customers ask them for something at the same time. We placed our orders and it was quick but nothing to eat our food with? We asked for cutlery 3 times before my husband got up and got it himself. By that time our starter was cold. Tissues were asked for and came 10 minutes later. Our naan/kulcha came first and proceeded to harden in front of our eyes while the curry came out later. We didn't want to stick around and see what they'd do (or rather NOT do) if we ordered dessert so we left. Somehow, the bill arriving and taking our money was not slow at all!

if you are ordering takeaway check your food before your pay..

I've been eating in Royal Darbar for well over 20 years since school days.. The food has always been excellent.. The biriyani from the days of Rs. 13/ plate it has always been the best.. but these days I am sure due to greed and younger management the food quality has suffered.. its been a hit and miss when you do take take away... Please check if your food if it is freshly prepared.. open the container and have a visual check.. if the gravy is darker or the rice is dry then it probably means you have been conned and served stale food.. I know as Indians it is acceptable to settle for less and give into our chalet hey attitude every time someone cons us... but don't stand your ground.. throw the food in their face and ask them to serve fresh food.. you are not paying them Monopoly money...

Yummy biryani n chicken starters

This place has the most slurpiest biryani and mouth watering kababs I have ever tasted. It is also available using a local delivery agency(available as a mobile app- TIFFINBOKS). The angari n malai chicken kababs are absolutely mouth watering n succulent! This place is around Kankanady where parking can get difficult.

The best Royal Restaurant in town. Mouth watering Paya Soup....Each main course dish is relished specially Chicken dishes. Best place to enjoy with family & Friends. This place is a royal delicacy for all locals.

It was delicious all I want to say for it. I ordered both chicken and mutton biryani. Chicken Murg which was excellent. I will visit again in the next trip this place. Staff was very good and humble.

The best service in India

The food was almost unbeatable, on par with Shalimar in Mumbai. The service was fast, the place was clean but it was a bit on the small side so you have to time it right when you plan to eat there. Try and sit as far from the entrance as possible as it's so busy people come and go frequently.

Absolutely EPIC!

The best restaurant in the city, by far! Amazing staff who deserve a massive tip and the loveliest food you can imagine. Some of the locals who dine there are very unpleasant and the premises is small. The food is unbeatable by a long shot.

Gastronomical Delight !

Start off with a Mutton Paya soup ! I suggest that because mutton as good as this doesn't come by easily in a hot and sultry place like Mangaluru ! And oh yeah, before I take you further, I want to stop you right here to say that I'm a pure non-vegetarian, so I cannot vouch for any vegetarian dishes they may have. Although I hear of people recommending their biriyani, I wouldn't do so - simply because my relative makes far better than what they can do, so i'm spoilt for taste ! But what I can and will recommend is any of their : Chicken kali mirch Butter Chicken Chicken Hariyali Have plain roti along with it - it's something special - very fluffy and always freshly made - true tandoori without any oil. Have a glass of salted lime soda handy. As simple as it may sound, that's all I would recommend, but am sure you'd go back for more !

Quality of food & service has dipped !

I have been a regular visitor since 4 years but this time I have noticed their food quality with regard to Mutton Biryani & Kababs have gone down and the service has deteriorated with steward who is taking the orders is very inexperienced or not interested in taking/recomending the foods availavble and also the quality of Caramal custard wasvery bad and stinking too ! But the steward was not ready to replace the same which is very surprising too ! and as I asess there is no proper person to attend the customer who are very genuine food savy !
