Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After four days in the Chama River Wilderness I was looking for something to eat that I didn't have to cook. I ran across Mamacita's outside of Abiquiu and the Hawaiian pizza that comes with jalapenos hit the spot. It's hotter than hell, but excellent mix of heat and sweet.
The lady working there, who I assume is Mamacita herself, is a funny mix of kind yet straightforward. I'll go back next time I'm in the area specifically for her pizza.

My partner and I just had the most fabulous pizza and grilled chicken Caesar salad at Mamacita’s. Fresh real ingredients right down to the homemade croutons, perfect thin crust with bubbles, amazing sauce, very friendly, courteous, and efficient service. The owner even had a biscuit for our pooch. Having lived in NY and NJ, we know pizza, and Mamacita’s is now at the top of our list. Can’t wait to go back!

Yes, you will wait a while (30-40 minutes) for the pizza, so order ahead or find a way to entertain yourself. Yes, there is no restroom, so you'll have to drive to Bode's (which is a fun visit anyway). Yes, you must buy water or another drink, so that the owner doesn't get in trouble with the liquor board. Yes, the owner may seem rude, but if you make a little effort, she'll warm up a little and share her story (a crusty outside she developed to survive in New York?). Yes, the place is kind of a hole in the wall, but there are a couple of outdoor tables. Yes, she is strict about following COVID practices.
It is very good pizza. And we had a nice conversation about work and life and values. You get what you bring.

Just tried the pepperoni pizza and it is certainly worth all the fuss I've read about. Not only is the pizza delicious, but also it's amazing to behold this one-woman operation. She answered the phone, made my food, rang up my order, and was a treat to speak with. I wore a mask as requested (happy to comply), and when she mentioned having an elderly parent, I was proud of this store owner for taking care of her personal business as well as her store's business. I love that this unique venue exists, a tiny spot with no indoor seating, specific requirements, unusual hours, delicious food, and a remarkable Mamacita behind it all. I feel like I just had a satisfying life experience.

The owner was rude. I asked questions about the pizza and she said can u read what it says on the menu. She also shut the window on my hand when I gave her change. My husband asked for parmesan cheese she said how much cheese do u need the pizza comes with cheese. The pizza was good overall the customer service was horrible.

Just good food. My husband and I had piazza, a Caesar salad and breadsticks. It was about 2 in the afternoon and we utilized one if the outside covered outside picnic tables.
Everything is made after it’s ordered so there was a good 20 minute wait. But the owner/chef/staff(Mamacita) delivered hot, fresh delicious food.
There are signs circling the patio area telling people to behave and it is an unfortunate sign of our times they are even necessary. Mamacita like Gus in
Lonesome Dove, does not , apparently tolerate bad behavior.
Focus on the fabulous food, the blue skies and relish the experience.

Stopped here with my Mom after a great music weekend at Ghost Ranch. What a great end to an amazing time! Chef uses whole milk mozzarella for her pizza which was perfectly thin and crispy. She grinds her own tomatoes for the red sauce. NY style pizza in the middle of the desert!!! Wonders never cease!!!

This tiny little spot in Abiquiu doesn't look like much, but man oh man do they put out delicious pizza. We stopped to grab a pizza and take with us to our accommodations. We stepped up to the order window and the woman took our order, and we sat outside at the picnic tables and waited about 20 minutes. We were handed a hot pizza box and we were on our way.
As we drove, the smell of a perfectly cooked pizza filled the car.
Once we got to our room, we sat out on our patio and enjoyed a perfectly cooked pizza. It was delicious!
Don't expect much service. The woman was very matter of fact, was a bit more friendly when she brought our pizza out. But we weren't expecting much, just great pizza and Mamacita absolutely delivered.

The owner is so kind and generous, and so is her food! This is a one-person business, just a tiny kitchen, no amenities, but who needs 'em when the PIZZA, salads, and extras are so excellent!
She requires masks for service, and I, for one, am happy about that! As we all should be . . .

Excellent pizza, excellent garlic sticks, excellent service. Highly recommend! We had the place to ourselves and got to listen to the rain on the metal roof while we enjoyed lunch. Limited menu for Covid didn’t effect great food.

Owner was so very rude. I can't believe she run a business. If your looking for good food with great customer service. There is a place called Fire and Ice down the road next to a store Bodies.

We were greeted by being yelled at--seriously, YELLED at--by the owner of this ugly little pizza shack as we walked up to order food at the outdoor window adjacent to the parking lot. "CAN'T YOU READ?!?" she screamed, which is apparently Mamacita's version of "Hello, how may I help you?", all because we did not immediately spot her sloppy, hand-written signs duct-taped haphazardly near the screened window that asked us to wear masks. No matter, we happily complied, even though we were outdoors and she was inside, barking at us through the screened window.
The nasty greeting should've warned us to turn around right then, and if we needed more discouragement, there was also the area around the takeout order window which was laced with yellow police tape, as if it were a crime scene (which it would've been if an utter lack of hospitality coupled with lousy eats were criminal).
But we were very hungry, so we plowed ahead after putting on our masks. We ordered a pizza pie and chicken caesar salad, plus four bottles of water to go. Not that there wasn't an area to eat if we had chosen to stay; the dirty picnic tables outside might've sufficed if they weren't so filthy, but there were also small clouds of houseflies buzzing everywhere that made it impossible to sit outside and eat without getting swarmed. So we waited for our pizza and salad to go. Twenty minutes later, we carried our food to the car, then went back and requested four paper plates and some napkins. The owner literally counted out four napkins and told us she had no paper plates. Seriously again: No paper plates. At a pizzeria. Which was either an outright lie or just disgraceful.
Still, we plowed on. Sitting in our car, we lifted the lid of the pizza box only to be greeted by a greasy, glutinous mess of a pizza pie, plus a few ripped pieces of lettuce and a pale piece of dry, overcooked chicken posing as a caesar salad. We were starving, however, so we tore the pizza carton lid into four pieces to make makeshift plates and grimaced our way through the absolute worst pizza I've eaten in 50+ years, plus the saddest salad ever. At least the water bottles were cold, so bully for that.
This is all to serve as fair warning: Don't make the same mistake we did. Go eat somewhere else--literally ANYWHERE ELSE, even if you have to cross the county line--before you patronize this dump and its wildly inhospitable owner.

The pizza is great but the owner is rude and a grouch. She needs to learn customer service skills. Advise going to Pizza 9 in Espanola.
