Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful atmosphere, design, friendly personel. But most important fantastic food. Vegetarian Indian style. Eggplants and falafel are worth to try

A small cafe that I found by chance, in Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood. Very nicely arranged, in an inner courtyard, covered with shady canvases. The staff is kind, it's a good place to make a short stop before continuing your exploration of the old quarter....They do not sell alcohol of any kind.More

No visit to Bur Dubai is complete without a visit to the XVA, the lemon and mint is a necessity and the egg paratha roll highly recommended. It is such a 'cool' place in both senses of the word.

Located in the historic, aka tourist, quarter, XVA is a delightful oasis to refresh. Stopped in for afternoon coffee. Delightful setting, good coffee, very pleasant staff. Worth a stop when visiting the area.

XVA Cafe, Dubai: Bastakia quarter is where art or history lovers flock to. It’s a beautiful cobbled stone square where the gorgeous traditional motifs and stoic simple architecture stlll abound. Stones and palm trees all scream desert cool and the elegant canopies provide the aesthetic...and the relief from the hot scorching sun. XVA hotel, gallery and hotel is that relief find you’ll stumble on even a hot winter day. It’s elegant, quiet and the courtyard is majestic with the ancient tree and her aged roots taking centrstage. It’s artistic alright - with well curated art pieces strewn everywhere. Dubai is famed for high prices. Even drinks do cost an arm and leg so this is where you put your tired legs to the rest and soak in the elegance. #eatstylishtravelstylishMore

Wonderful Place with delicious Breakfast! Nice staff and beautiful artwork. There is a lucky old tree in the middle and you can hear the birds while having breakfast. Its not crowded like the arabian teahouse - we liked it lot more !!

Located in the historic district, it has a very quaint, chic ambience with limited menu which attracts many tourists. Good for an afternoon tea or coffee break. The juices are popular.

This place is magical! It has a gallery which is open for visitors. This time we didn't have lunch here, but we enjoyed a cup of Turkish coffee and fresh orange juice! The birds, the atmosphere, the interior, the whole experience is so nice there!...It really feels like you are living in another time and that makes it so special!More

We really enjoyed our visit to this little café. It has a really nice ambiance, as you sit out in a courtyard with a huge banyan tree that takes center stage. The service was average but the food was pretty good but a little overpriced....We had the green juice and infused water which was really cutely presented. We also ordered the XVA club, bettinjan feta - which was a stuffed eggplant dish and the zaffron cheesecake (saffron cheesecake) which was delicious. I would definitely recommend visiting this place. There are cozy little nooks to relax in and you feel like you are transported to some ancient time. Like being in Morocco, something out of a movie.More

Delicious, gloriously cool food and ambiance. I nearly turned down the mint lemonade drink the chap suggested in a reflex to say no to all upselling, a hangover from the trip to the souqs I’d just come from. I’m so glad I decided to try...it. It was, as he’d intimated, tremendously refreshing. The Greek salad was again super refreshing. It’s inexpensive, honest, authentic and good. I’d eat here again over some of the places I’ve parted with a small fortune for around the marina. Highly recommended then. ThanksMore

Service was prompt and kind, which is why I give it 2 stars. The place itself is amazing, interiors well curated. But like many other places in Dubai, food is just tasteless and almost an afterthought. The eggplant burger (fried eggplant in place of bun)...was drenched in oil, meaning was low temperature cooked and soaked up all the grease. In between there was a slab of feta, one slice of tomato and shredded, unseasoned salad (why?) that with the heat of the eggplant turned oily, wet and cooked. Sweet potato fries were not sweet potato but the red potato variety. Different glycemic index, taste and colour: if you say sweet potato on your menu, be it. Overall it was an attempt at creative, healthy food, but if you cannot do it properly stick to the basics and climb your way up.More

When the Arabian teahouse is packed with a queue - just go here, around the corner. It was way quieter, there was a nice cool breeze somehow and the food was better than we expected. My eggplant burger was clever and tasty - the bun...was made of eggplant and the sweet potato fries with it were very good. I would go back again for lunch - nice atmosphere except I would silence the muzak next time and leave the birds tweeting and the call to prayer as much better background sounds. Price was standard for a Dubai lunch.More

After a much needed break from the horrors of Covid-19 and lockdown measures here and there, I finally managed to book an overnight stay in this artsy boutique hotel situated in the heart of the Al Fahidi historical district, where walls are lovingly hanged by...modern artworks and paintings. I stayed in Room No. 2 called "Mirrors". I loved the bed and the clean linens, and of course the toilet and shower fixtures. The only downside is I got checked in a little because they had to clean the room first and the television cable channels not working. Good thing I brought my laptop to entertain me before sleeping. The servers are smiling and very courteous. By the way, they only serve vegetarian food.More
