Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

After nearly six years, we made a return visit to Luang Prabang and were very happy to find that Phonheuang Cafe was still operating. Same great food and good value. Everything was just as good as we remembered and we enjoyed eating there twice during our visit. Four of us ate for around 200,000 kip, including noodles, spring rolls, and beer.

Really nice cafe, really nice food at a very cheap price. Would go back every day if I lived here. Food came quick and there’s an atm at the end of the road in case you forget cash

Amazing food at very affordable prices. It’s an unassuming spot from the street, but it’s comfortable and cozy once you sit down. It almost feels like you’re having a home-cooked meal in the best possible way

American expat with Lao wife and family for lunch. Shared fresh spring rolls and beef with herbs & vegetables and I had bo bun, nice bowl of rice noodles, beef, onion, lemon and herbs Vietnamese style. Served fast and four ate for $16US. Recommend highly!

If you want a really well cooked local meal that is suitable for Western tastes, this is the place. I had the fresh egg rolls and they were absolutely perfect. It was six big egg rolls for $1.70. Add the ginger tea for $0.60.

I eat here twice with two friends. The food is very fresh. The prices are very low. The restaurant is very popular. The nems and spring rolls are extremely good. That being said; the restaurant is fine for those not wishing to spend much money, and for vegetarians. But for those who enjoy good food whilst on holiday, you can eat much more interesting food elsewhere in Luang Prabang.

In a remote little street on the backside of the main road, you'll find this place always fully packed of customers. It's a well known place for amazing spring roll plates with a lot of fresh salad and herbs that allow you to make yourself your home made spring roll. If you choose the Bo-Bun it's also a very nice option to have your apetite fully satisfied with yummy food. Quick service so you can wait for a table to sit. Friendly service.

My favorite dish in Luang Prabang is the Bo Bun with Chicken. Not to be missed. The river weed crisps are a delight also. Wash it all down with a delicious mango shake! Such a lovely little outta the way cafe with lovely staff also

Wonderful people, great food and a quiet location one street off the Mekong river, this little place can easily be overlooked but shouldn’t be. We had a delicious tofu Laab and river weed as well as vegetables on rice. Certainly a place to revisit.

We went for a few beers down by the river and then strolled up to phonheuang cafe. Traditional place to eat. Can't recommend enough. Staff greeted us with a smile, took our order, food was with us within 10 mins. The food is freshly made and one of the best meals I have eaten in Luang Prabang. Highly recommend to anyone that want traditional Laos food in authentic surroundings.

Understand every patron is different but all we can say is that when we are on holiday we don’t mind what we spend. Looked at the reviews for this place all we can say food was mediocre atmosphere horrific, people whispering because it was so quiet, dirty bins full of rubbish and empty bottles under tables and the place full of mosquitos. Can’t say anymore couldn’t wait to pay the bill and get out. You can tell a lot by the management of a place. Behind the bar was a disgrace and the bathroom say no more.

We went here 3 times in 3 days and loved every meal. The food is very cheap especially given the prime location. The service was fast and the food came out quick even when the place was packed. The spring rolls, both fresh and fried, were great.

Very good, small restaurant. Authentic, inexpensive and fresh food. Best vegetarian spring roll ever. Went back the next day. Owner speaks English. Highly recommended if you like Laotian food.

This is a small charming unpretentious place with excellent food and as others have said “cheap and cheerful.” The fresh spring rolls were excellent. The chicken curry good. Right around the corner from my hotel where I have stayed twice and I love this area of Luang Prabang. Grateful to have such an accessible place in the neighbourhood.

Fresh spring rolls were very good. The Thai basil with chicken(krapaw guy), not so much. Lots of oil and salty. I read a lot of good reviews. Was expecting more, I guess. Very fast friendly service and very inexpensive.
