Balbaa, quick service, good value for money

I am on a very short visit to Alexandria. Myself and my niece just arrived coming from Cairo. We were both starving. We wanted a restaurant that serves good food and it must be efficient. We ordered lentil soup, whole chicken stuffed with rice, “ro2a2”. With the order came 8 plates of different appetizers, salads and freshly baked pita bread hot out of the oven. The food was of good quality that is reasonably priced. I was not disappointed, we did not have to wait for the food to be served. The food was ample, we were not able to finish half of the order and we had to take the rest of our orders home. I have to admit that the restaurant was not so busy. But I think the system allows efficient and fast service even if the restaurant was full, according to my niece and others that frequented the restaurant recently. In short Balbaa serves large portions of good food with very good value for money. This review is based on my personal experience.

Great Grilled Meats With Local Atmosphere!

Bustling local venue. You pick out the meat or fish that you want outside where they have many grills going. Then you go inside to await your feast. Did not have the lamb soup but it's supposed to be one of their signature dishes. Waiter then comes with fresh bread and about 10 types of appetizers, spreads, and veggies to accompany your meat. Rice and fries are also available. We went with the grilled baby lamb chops and they were amazing. Came with grilled onions that were excellent. No alcohol but plenty of bottled water and fruit juices. We were the only tourists in the place so a real local experience. Inexpensive. Highly recommend for a great meal and a great local experience!

Famous, but not one of the best in Alexandria

I was in Sidi-Gaber branch on January 2020, it's a very famous restaurant in Alexandria. There are many parking lots, but you don't see the sea in this location. Usually, very crowded and noisy, not suitable for people who search for calm or romantic place. We ordered seafood, shrimps were good, but other species like Sea bass was not good, and smell of my fish was bad. To be honest, there were many people there in this day and this may affect the service a bit. But my overall experience, that I will not go there again.

These guys will try to cut and pass loin chops (lamb T-bone) as lamb chops (lamb rack or ribeye). They purposely cut it in a way that would appear to be similar and charge the same price for it. Unfortunately, this practice is common among all Egyptian kebab places. However, we specifically told them that we were only interested in the lamb rack chop and were willing to pay more. They placed the right kind of lamb chops on top and placed the half-cut T-bones underneath.

A fantastic grill restaurant with a lively atmosphere at great service. The food really is excellent and you can choose from an array of meat and fresh seafood. The garlic prawns are outstanding. Just make sure that you go with a healthy appetite.

Amazing seafood restaurant

Barbecue and seafood restaurant I tried seafood and it was amazing. Service was perfect. Staff are amazing. Affordable price for visitors. Location is good. appetizers are too much that they service for free. Fresh seafood. Fresh juices are very nice.

I was really impressed, there were enough parking spaces and I saw the great grills as soon as I entered. It was busy but the service was great. I have rarely been served so well in Egypt. Great fresh bread, the starters were top notch, my fish, the rice casserole with shrimps and salmon, tasted great, the service was really unique, something you rarely get in Egypt. If you eat fish in Alex then only go to Balbaa Village. But the meat dishes looked great too.

A must if you want to eat well in Alexandria, even if you are not hungry!

The food is among the best I have ever tasted. This is especially true for Arabic food but also in comparison with other nationalities. The selection of meat and fish that was shown to us in the refrigerated counter was impressive in advance. Our table was richly laid with freshly grilled, juicy and deliciously seasoned food and a variety of delicious dips. The courteous, friendly and at the same time unobtrusive service gave us a lot of pleasure. No one visiting Alexandria should miss this.

Great Food - Poor Service

They are one of the best places to go for any meat lovers. The problem is (and honestly a general Alexandria problem with resutaurants), that staff are a bit aggressive. That still doesn't deter me from ordering delivery from Balbaa!

First experience in Alexandria restaurants

The place is ok, I would prefer to sit overlooking a beautiful view Unfortunately, the chairs are worn out The service is excellent and the welcome is more than good As for the orders, I liked the fried and grilled shrimp and Sayadiya rice Medium boneless trotters soup I tasted the molokhiya, very normal, not special, and maybe less than normal I tasted the freekeh tagine very good, and the freekeh stuffed inside the pigeons was excellent I never liked fried fish Grilled fish is good Plain stuffed dish with rice The best dishes are Sayadiyah shrimp and freekeh. Thank you

Outstanding. So good we came back for the second time in a week…and it was even better. Great place for families or groups. Fresh food, well prepared, at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

A dishonest restaurant with no menu and overpriced prices

It was a bad experience that will not be repeated. The restaurant is dedicated to fish only and there is no variety in food. The food is very ordinary and nothing special.
