Mirakul is our favorite restaurant in all of Croatia. We happened on it by chance one night on our first trip in 2016 and it was so wonderful that we returned several times. Since then, it has been our #1 “go to” for dinner on...every trip to Dubrovnik. With so many restaurant choices, why return night after night, year after year? Simple: it is the best pizza anywhere (Amalfi coast included), with superior service and a lovely, relaxing, casual al fresco atmosphere. The staff is wonderful - we especially appreciate Dejan, Denis, Stepan, Marko, Vlado, and of course Edi and Ivo.
The pizza is classic Neopolitan (wood fired oven) and is wonderfully and perfectly fresh with a soft, chewy dough and crust blistered just right and generous cheese and toppings. Mirakul’s pizza sets our standard; anywhere else we go, we look for pizza that hopes to measure up to Mirakul’s. They offer several other options, including very large fresh salad entrees and pasta dishes. All are very good but we come for the pizza (our favorite is quattro formaggi), pizze kruh (pizza bread), and salata. The staff are very nice about making our pizze “bez pelata” (without tomato sauce) or “sir i kruh” (cheese and bread), and our salata “cisto” (plain without dressing). The crna vina (red wine) is very good.
The owners also own a unique and excellent winery, Edivovina, which is about an hour away from Dubrovnik on the Peljesac peninsula. The Navis Mysterium is an exquisite red wine. The wine is aged under the Adriatic in amphora.
The staff is very professional, helpful, and attentive without hovering or intruding. They will appear instantly when you appear to be about to need something, and they are experienced servers with a very hospitable, helpful approach. They are fluent in English and will also help you learn a bit of Croatian if you like. Our thanks and grateful appreciation to the staff who always make our visits and dinners to Mirakul such a delight to which we look forward every long, cold winter: Dejan, Stepan, Marko, and, of course, Edi and Ivo. We missed Sinese, Denis, and Vlado this year.
It is located just a few “blocks” off of the main pedestrian street (entering from the west facing Pile Gate, go past the fountain and Sladoledarna gelato, and after a few streets, turn right; go past the church on the left and then you’ll find Mirakul not far from there. What’s particularly nice about the location is that it’s easy to find off of the main street, but is quiet and is not a “through” street so the atmosphere is like being in someone’s backyard terrace with a trellised garden. There are large overlapping canopy umbrellas to protect from rain as well.
We hope to see you again this year! Hvala!More
