Located in Casco Veijo, this restaurant has indoor dining and a beautiful outdoor garden. Our server spoke English and was attentive to our needs. The breakfast menu has many great Panamanian and American choices at moderate prices.
We had the Huevos Al Montuno and the Sicilian. Both were very good. They also have a sister restaurant called Mahalo Snack Shack that is a little smaller and slightly different menu, but just as good (see my review). Overall our experience was very good and I would highly recommend Mahalo Cocino y Jardin.

I absolutely loved eating at this restaurant every day, which was attached to our hotel, Las Clementinas. My favorite thing was waking up in the morning and getting their power bowl. They were all so kind and made my son a fun decorative drink in the afternoon while hubs and I enjoyed an adult beverage.
My advice for anyone going to Panama, is that meals are an event, so expect to take your time and enjoy.

This restaurant has a beautiful shaded terrace with a natural canopy of tropical trees and plants. Two fans and the ocean breeze nearby keep the place at an ideal temperature. We were there for tapas and drinks before dinner. We had the cauliflower that was the best ever. We ordered seconds! The service was good and food tasty and fresh. I will fully recommend this hidden rainforest terrace to anyone who loves food and a tropical/natural outdoor ambiance.

I really like the food and atmosphere here. I was disappointed to see the bartender had his mask around his chin (not over mouth or nose) even when approaching guests and making drinks. When he began to approach me it made me very uncomfortable that he didn't even attempt to pull it up. Many other employees had masks under their nose. I would expect more hygiene in the middle of a pandemic with the people providing service and handling my food and drink. Very unfortunate.

Hello, I am very sorry for your experience at Mahalo. I completely agree that our bartender and servers not wearing their masks properly was unacceptable. The matter was dealt with appropriately to ensure it doesn't happen again. We have all bio security protocols in place, to provide a safe environment for our guests. I am glad you enjoyed the food and atmosphere and hope you will return.

Over two weeks in Panama I stayed in Casco Viejo for 5 days. My family had breakfast there 3 of those days because it was so great. My wife and I had the basic farmers breakfast with eggs. However the sautéed tomatoes and the buttered toast were super yummy. We could not get enough. We added a side of maple bacon and they made it crispy for us and it was de slush. The kids had the breakfast burrito and the avocado toast and they enjoyed both with a nod to the burrito. The coffee was hot, the smoothies were great, awesome cocktail list as well. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I also went alone for lunch and had a shrimp kale Caesar and cleaned my plate. I spoke briefly to the owner who was very nice. Make this your first stop for breakfast or any meal in Casco.

Well deserved reputation for being a to brunch spot. Unique fusion dishes are tasty and reasonably priced. Garden area is shady and breezy even on a very hot day. Great place to people watch.

Mahalo's kitchen is one of the best you can find at Casco Viejo. Good healthy food for every taste, including delicious vegan options. The garden has the perfect atmosphere to better enjoy your food. Breakfast is extremely recommended at Mahalo, and if you like them, don't miss the french toasts. Main dishes are also recommended for lunch or dinner, e.g. the shrimp curry

Best food in Panama so far. Tuna Tartar and cauliflower appetizers were both fantastic. Out table had almond crusted tuna, baked chicken, and the stir fry. They were all also fantastic.
We had a birthday celebration followed by the kids having s’mores. Kids loved the mocktails too.

We strolled into Mahalo around 8am on Friday morning for breakfast and had our pick of tables. A few other parties came in during our meal, but it was still relatively quiet.
Located adjacently to the main Casco area, Mahalo is one of the cutest restaurants I've ever been to. The vibe is very Hawaii-themed, which made me yearn to go back to the islands even more.
I had a smoothie and my husband had their lavender lemonade. The lavender lemonade was quite good - very strong lavender flavor, which was quite nice. Most of the time when anything is lavender flavored, it's like a hint of a hint of lavender.
Food is really good - I had the huevos rancheros and my husband had their french toast. All of it was very good. The prices are very fair too. For sure our meal would've cost 2x the amount in NYC for the same ambiance and quality.

We have eaten here a few times throughout our stay in Panama which goes to say how much we love it!
Such a lovely environment with a great menu for drinks and food. Lots of options for veggies and fairly reasonably priced. The menu is varied with a whole host of different flavours and the quality is great.
Would highly recommend.

After overindulging in the guilty pleasure of Panamanian street junk food, my friend and I desperately needed fruits, vegetables, and nature.
Between the name of the restaurant and the menu offered we could not be disappointed. And we don't smoke it!
We walk about 1/4 hour from the Cinco de Mayo metro and arrive at the entrance of Casco Viejo in front of this restaurant with a chic atmosphere but as always, with adorable staff who immediately put you at ease ( what is exceptional in Paris seems to be the norm in Panama, kindness and lack of judgment). We enter the bar-restaurant room, nicely decorated, but choose to eat outside in the garden, cool, calm and lush.
I happily swap my traditional beer for an ultra fresh juice like mint cucumber lemon (the alcohol-free concept is a concept in a city where it is 40 degrees on average) and opt for a summer salad, an excellent idea to mix strawberries and balsamic. My friend chooses the zucchini carpaccio, decorated in a fresh and original way with an orange vinaigrette.
The prices are a little more expensive perhaps, but we are in Casco Viejo and the food is really very good.
We're having a great time and this "detox" has done us a lot of good!

We visited this restaurant twice on our recent visit to Panama and both times, they were packed on our arrival but the staff was very cordial and accommodating. I failed to take photos on our first visit but those items were delicious which prompted the second visit a week later. Unfortunately, the items that we fell in love with on the first visit were not on the menu on the second visit which was a little disappointing. It could very well have been that the second visit was at an earlier hour, hence the difference in menus, but we failed to ask, deciding to simply try what was on the presented menu simply because the staff was so accommodating when we got there.
On our first visit, we had the Hummus de Frijoles Blancos, Almejas al Vapor, Pulpo al Hierro, and Tres Leche. Unfortunately, no phots were taken but the food was delicious. On the second visit, my wife had the smash burger with french fries and I had a gin and tonic while she had a matcha beverage. There is nothing to knock this restaurant about, we are just bad food bloggers who enjoy good food and great service in a fine atmosphere and this joint had all of that.
Note: I enjoy a good gin and tonic and am usually disappointed when I order it out. However, Mahalo made the best GT that I have ever ordered where you taste the gin distinct from the tonic with the lime notes not hidden or overwhelming; a great balance. It was so good that I ordered it twice and was just as good the second time. Props to the ice for not diluting the hell out of the beverage.

We just love this place. The charm of the restaurant and garden area are just special. The staff are welcoming and provide a high level of service from start to finish. We went for dinner this time but have there many times for breakfast as well. Never disappoints. They have vegan options and are one of the few restaurants in Panama City that understand and take seriously customers with food allergies. Much appreciated.

Underwhelming given the reviews on TA. The garden area was rather unappealing with ladders and construction material strewn about. I would describe the food as California fusion and a bit on the overly spicy side. The server, well pleasant, was not particularly attentive. There are too many other good places in the old town to recommend as alternatives.

Food was good, restaurant ambiance was good and the service was excellent.
My wife and I shared some dishes for dinner and the only ones that were just average were the empanadas (a bit dry) and the salad (very little dressing). The rest of the experience was good to excellent.
