We have spent several days in Casco Viejo and decided to try this place. We are so glad we did! First, the service is perfect. It’s obvious that the owner cares about having a good experience because he was present and on time with what was needed at all times. The staff was friendly, professional & attentive. Victor was our waiter and was wonderful! The food was next level delicious! The steak was some of the best we’ve ever had anywhere! The chimichirri sauce was incredible and loaded with flavor! Great wine, desserts and espresso. I wish we had a place like this at home!

Good, tasty food in an upmarket atmosphere. Expect to pay a little more but it is still reasonable and completely worth it.
My friend and I started with the grilled portobello mushrooms (very good) I enjoyed the salmon and shrimp burger with blue cheese sauce (interesting but delicious) while my friend had the sea bass and shrimp meatballs (also tasty). We also both decided to have desert, settling on lemon pie (classic lemon meringue pie) and a recommend passion fruit mousse (didn't catch the full name, but it was absolutely delicious. Be aware the passion fruit filling was very sweet)
After some initial confusion with my friends margarita service was excellent with an attentive waiter.

My Husband and I had just taken an eight mile "stroll" around the Panama waterfront and city and we were on our way back to our hotel in Casco Viejo. I had read some reviews before our trip about Santa Rita so we stopped for lunch. I'm glad we did. It was the best service we had anywhere during our five day stay in this area. In spite of a language barrier, the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was exceptional. Right after we ordered a well healed, large group (24 adults, 8 children) came in and the staff never missed a beat with us or the other group.

Our one dining experience in Panama City before heading home the following morning was simply wonderful. Walked in around 7pm on a Thursday evening without reservations (recommended) and was able to get a table for four. The restaurant is fairly new (opened 2015?) and the decor is attractive but not over-powering. Our waiter came to the table quickly and launched in on a welcome but, to our chagrin, it was in Spanish and much above our ability to comprehend. We indicated English would be helpful and he quickly brought over another server who was able to speak with us in English. The entire staff was friendly and attentive, including the owner, Geraldina Marcos, who moved effortlessly from table to table, greeting and chatting, always with a smile. We ordered a series of appetizers including a green salad (enough for two people) and a delicious tomato, onion and feta salad. Entrees included steak, Osso Bucco, grilled chicken and veal stew. All dishes were perfectly prepared and delicious, as well as wonderfully presented. Our favorite side dish was roasted potatoes, crispy exterior with delightful seasoning. The only regret is that we had no appetite remaining for dessert. If ever back in Panama City, we would all visit again.

We just had a 2 week holiday in Panama and the service in Santa Rita was by far the best of all the restaurants we ate in. The food was also amazing! We had the small plates (tapas) - 5-6 plates between 2 people was more than enough. We ate at the bar because we didn't make a reservation (so make a reservation if you can), but this was fine and the bar tender took care of us. The owner was excellent - she made sure she welcomed and said good bye to all the guests, and also made sure everything was fine with the meal. I think because we sat at the bar they gave us some complimentary Cava, which was unnecessary, but we of course appreciated it. Definitely go to this restaurant if you're in Panama City.

Our group of 6 had dinner here, and every bit of food we ordered was cooked perfectly and was amazing. Our hosts were lovely and later in the evening there was a singer and guitar player to entertain. Highly recommend this restaurant, and make sure to reserve ahead of time! We walked next door to Lazotea for drinks afterwards on the roof - super convenient!

While walking through Casco Viejo, while passing Santa Rita restaurant, while coincidentally looking for a good place to eat, my wife slipped and fell right outside the restaurant and banged her knee and arm up pretty bad. She was bleeding from a few spots and before I even knew exactly what he happened, staff from the restaurant were quick to whisk her in to the restaurant where they helped her clean up, providing ice, antiseptic and then bandaged her up. By the time she was bandaged, most of the damage at that point was her pride, although she took it pretty well. We’d decided fate had told us in the most difficult way possible, we have found our place to eat.
Sorry for the really long preamble, but now a review for the food. We opted to order several shareable dishes (my wife did all the ordering as she is mildly fluent in Spanish) as opposed to main entrees and everything we ate was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was superb!
Thank you, everyone at Santa Rita! For a multitude of reasons, you guys turned a simple afternoon meal into one that will never be forgotten.

We had our last dinner of our trip at Santa Rita and it was the best we had while in Casco Viejo. From the beef empanadas and Santa Rita salad that we shared, to the Osso Buco, which was a suggestion by the server. And he was not wrong, it was delicious.
We also ordered the Ham and cheese sorrentino pasta which was also excellent.
On recommendation from the hostess we had the Rice pudding and a Passion fruit custard again absolutely delicious.
The staff were superb and the restaurant itself was cosy and welcoming.
We would definitely eat here again and highly recommend it during a stay in Casco Viejo.

Booked based on reviews from TA - glad we did!
We had a little confusion due to our waiters limited English, but he was trying hard and we were in a Spanish speaking country 🤓
He actually grabbed a colleague when he got really stuck. Great decor has this feeling like a very comfortable restaurant. We had a few appetizers including the yummy croquettes..,and split a steak. The Spanish tortilla was a little bland and could have used some salt, but everything else was awesome. The passion fruit mousse dessert was awesome too!

My wife and I wandered into Restaurante Santa Rita on a Friday evening without a reservation. No problem--we were cheerfully greeted and promptly seated at the bar (which we're always fine with). Michel took excellent care of us, recommending ceviche, eggplant croquettes, and a remarkable artichoke and ibérico ham dish. All three were equally delicious as were our cocktails! Highly recommended

The meal at Santa Rita was the culinary highlight of our vacation in Panama. Their menu combines mainly classic Spanish items with local foods and some interesting creative options (my Tuna Tataki was superb). Service was flawless and because our Spanish was lacking, one of their English-speaking hostesses checked after us several times, to make sure all was ok. We can highly recommend this restaurant.

My colleagues and I were staying in Panama for the week and had friends who recommended Santa Rita Casco Viego. We booked a reservation for 3 persons on a Wednesday evening. The service was extraordinary — the manager, Mellisa, was wonderfully attentive and welcoming.
Everything we ate was incredible.
We started with:
Grilled Octopus
Fried Calamari
Manchego/Sausage
Tuna Tataki/Truffle Purée
Each of us had the Timbale Salad with Feta, Tomatoes, Onions and Avocado. So delicious and refreshing — perfectly seasoned.
We had the Veal Milanese, Entraña Steak and vegetables.
The Passionfruit Mouse was out of this world!
Lemon Tart and Dulce du Leche CrĂŞpes did not disappoint.
Shouting it from the roof tops — if you’re visiting Panama, don’t miss Santa Rita! Speaking of roof tops, our only regret is that we didn’t go to the roof top bar after dinner to enjoy a drink.

Came here with two coworkers, ans the moment we walked in service was excellent! Beautiful vibe inside the restaurant and loved how they gave us little bags for our masks. The owners sister came to check on us several times - everyone was just very hospitable! As if we were over at their place for dinner.
The food was incredible - we ordered several dishes to share tapas style. Highlights were the sea bass carpaccio, the ceviche, the truffle tuna tataki, the bao special, the osso bucco special…
It’s also a nice touch that they have live music on the weekends - and valet parking. We will be back!

Back to Panama this month to present my new book and again had the opportunity to visit Santa Rita Restaurant at Casco Viejo, Panama.
Was greeted again by owners Nino and Geraldine as an old friend of the house, cater-to by excellent host Melissa and presented by their tradition of excellent cuisine by Chef Ricardo.
From appetizers such as mollejas (sweetbreads) in red wine to delicate smoked salmon rolls...all the way to entrees such as their unique fresh Sea Bass with artichokes, grilled tenderloin with saute fresh vegetables and more.
Again, six months after my last visit, must say this is one of the best restaurants in Panama, coped by unique service and attention to detail. Will certainly be back.

We were a party of six and everyone commented on how we well were greeted and attended - our server was very experienced. We really enjoyed our delicious selections. The evening went beyond our expectations. Santa Rita was recommended to us and we, in turn, highly recommend checking it out.
