Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This restaurant is located just outside the front gates of the Shangri La, and was a refreshing change from the dining options within the resort on our week long stay. The Chinese style food was a very good standard and in my opinion superior to several of the dining options in the resort. Main dishes come with rice and would fill up most people on their own. At the time of writing beers are FJ$5 each. A selection of wines were also available however not much stock when we visited (no bottles of white, a couple single glasses worth only). The staff are very attentive and show a great passion for their craft. It feels great having the opportunity to support a truly local Fiji business without having to venture too far from the resort. It is approx 10-15mins easy walk from the Shangri La lobby, or you can get a cab for approx $5 each way. We were there for a late dinner and stayed until closing time of 9pm so the cab driver was more than happy to be there ready to collect us on the way back. Highly recommended if you are looking for something a little different from standard resort fare.

Wanting to get away from a resort island we booked the same day for dinner - fairly basic menu options but friendly staff, good location for a sundowner and meals actually pretty good and fairly priced. Erratic delivery of meals, so do not be in a hurry. Live music some nights. Sometimes you can get a ride from the lobby to the gatehouse.

Firstly, do not be put off by first glance. The Junction Café actually faces the local road between it and the water, not the road which is the driveway to the Shangri-La Resort. If you are driving, turn on to the side road and turn in through the double white gates where there is plenty of parking. There is a pleasant balcony in front overlooking a pretty garden which overlooks the palm trees and lagoon with the sea breaking over the reef in the background. The service was pleasant, prompt, and friendly. We ordered a simple dish of Vegetable Chow mien with egg but I really enjoyed it. The cold beer was served in cold glasses. The cost of one dish and three beers was FJD28.50. Nothing to complain about there. Junction Cafe is across Queens Road from Gecko's Resort. I cannot think why it was not busy with guests from the Shangri-La Resort. If they did not have a car they could walk or catch a taxi for no more than FJD8.

You can save $$$$$$$ just by walking out the front gate of the Shangri-la and into a fun night of real food not resort food. We have been twice already and will go again, We much prefer to put our money back into locals instead of forgien national hotel owners. Food is awesome staff awesome its just great all round lol.

Stayed at Shangri La and came over here for Lunch as the Hotel had limited options. Had the Chilli Lamb and Beef Black Bean ($12.50 each) both were really tasty and weirdly enough was the best meal we had all weekend from our stay. Recommend coming here if your staying at the Hotel as its just outside.

We were staying at the Shangri La and decided take a lovely walk (10 mins) off the island to this restaurant. We enjoyed two of the best meals of our holiday! On our first visit, the chef cooked the fish we’d caught that day (the Shangri la will only cook fish caught through their fishing charter). It was delicious (see photo below). On our second visit we ate Chinese food off the menu. Again, delicious. Meals are well priced and drinks cheap. Plus, a beautiful sunset each evening!!!

Recently stayed at the shangri la resort and ventured outside the grounds across the bridge to the Junction Cafe where we were well looked after by our host, the owner Asena. We had a very tasty Asian style meal complemented by a New Zealand wine paying at least half the price compared to the resort and supporting a local business at the same time. Well worth the experience

A surprising little find just outside the entrance to Shangri-La Yanuca Island. Anyone staying at Shangri-La should eat at The Junction at least once. A family run business with great food and great service. They have the best vege' spring rolls I have ever had. We tried a few different dishes over a couple of nights and everything we had was delicious. If you like chicken and sweetcorn soup it is really good, just be sure to check the size before you order. Going by the size of the small I'm guessing the large comes in a bath tub.. One of the nights they had a guy playing live music which added a nice little bit of atmosphere. The only bad bit was knowing that once we left Fiji we wouldn't get to eat there again. Unfortunately I didn't take time to get any pics of the food.

Wish we found this place earlier!! We went here on our second last day at Shangri La and had to go back the next day as well. The staff were so friendly and the food was exceptional. I am gluten intolerant and they only had beer so they allowed us all to bring our own booze in. They also made me gluten free stir-fry and it was outstanding. I can not recommend this place highly enough. My friend that are not gluten intolerant all agreed it was actually up there with the best food we had in Fiji

Very fresh delicious food. We also had lunch here. If you want great food at a great price and wish to support the locals worth the visit. Better than the food in a local 5 star establishment.

If you are staying at the Shangri-La do yourself a favour and visit this little restaurant at the end of the causeway. We went for dinner and were not disappointed. Great choice of meals, very reasonably priced and delicious. Had we had more time I would have loved to have visited for lunch to enjoy the view. The location is perfect, the staff are friendly and attentive, and it was just nice to leave the resort for a while and enjoy the amble across the causeway on a perfect Fiji night. I actually feel sorry for those signed up for the resort "meal plan" who are unable to explore the dining options offered so close to the resort. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Though this restaurant has a best venue/location.. the customer service and food is pathetic. They only give importance to 'tourist', and are very racist towards us locals. They don't offer what they promised. They don't make u feel welcome but instead will look at you like we are problem. Will never have any group function here.. Very very disappointed 😥 We paid money... plus couldn't eat because the food finished and they didn't want to cook for us.

We visited this restaurant for 2 nights running. What a great place to visit,Just a short buggy ride away from the Shangri-La. The meals are fantastic, the family friendly environment is great,we had a toddler and all members of the staff interacted with him. Local people, local specialties, fantastic food. Everyone needs to experience this restaurant at least once during your stay in Fiji.

Loved the place. Is across the road from the Shangri-La and all its finery, but here was the escape: a brilliant vibe, happy enthusiastic staff, awesome outlook and the food was so good. Wife had the beef and black bean stir fry (served with rice). A couple of hours later she is still raving about it. I had the whole steamed fish in coconut cream (also with rice). Ridiculous how good it was. I am a fan…plays it’s wealthy neighbour off a break.
