Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely outdoor seating. Sandwiches and salads are wonderful and delicious. The only problem is that while you are eating many beggars walk up to you asking for money. During our dinner this happened at least five times, and it makes for a less than pleasant experience. I truly feel for these poor people, but when you are eating dinner at a restaurant you are sort of trapped...

Cafe Mosquito is quaint and lovely. I had very good coffee and the best Tres Leches I have ever had. The outdoor dining is relaxing.

We stopped here for lunch and enjoyed it very much! The "menu of the day" quiche was a great lunch portion, and included a quiche, salad, juice, coffee and small piece of pie for $6.800. Our server was very friendly and patient and let us practice our Spanish. The cafe is small and we noticed that by 1:30 it was full and people were turned away. You can also reserve a table (which many people had done). Great option for lunch, but go before 1:30 PM to beat the crowd.

I visited this place about four or five times to have breakfast. My sister and I loved the coffee and scrambles eggs with cheese or tomato (paila de huevos), I also tried the media luna and it was delicious. Staff was really friendly and the service was super quick. Location is great too!

We had a really lovely "quick" lunch here one day. We both got sandwiches and they were good. I got a veggie sandwich and everything was fresh. The menu is all in Spanish so just be prepared! We found the service to be friendly and on par with other places in Chile in terms of wait time--a slower pace than we are used to but it's vacation after all. It was really nice to sit outside.

We went here 3 times during our trip. The coffee is great and the breakfast is delicious. We had granola and yoghurt with banana, smashed avocado on toast and scrambled eggs. It's right next to Bellas Artes metro station and has a nice outdoor area. Lots of the other cafes in the are have outdoor space that backs on to the busy (and smoggy) main roads so this place, just one street back, was perfect.

I went for breakfast fairly early (around 830 am) and was surprised to find the restaurant/cafe essentially deserted, as it has usually been busy when I have walked past it. I had a coffee, which was OK (unusually for Chile) and scrambled eggs, which was also OK, but nothing special. Prices were reasonable, although perhaps a little higher than normal for Chile. The ambience was pleasant and unrushed, while the staff were attentive enough (perhaps because there were only two customers at that stage?). I enjoyed the free wifi too. I'd happily have breakfast here again.

Excellent place to stop for a caffeine pick-me-up. Delightful outdoor seating on a quiet, leafy street.

Very busy place but the coffee is excellent. Lots of different sandwiches with fresh vegetables. The muffins where the best I had in a long time.

This place is very busy. If you want to eat there, go there during an odd time, so you can get your food quickly. Otherwise you will need to wait for a long time. The coffee is excellent. The salads and sandwiches are excellent too. Lots of variety. Something for everyone. Fresh vegetables. I would definitely eat there again next time I am in town, as the food was really delicious. The muffins looked good, but by the time we wanted them, it was really busy and it would have taken a long time to get them, so we left instead.

I had a reasonable meal but had my bag stolen from under my table. I was sitting outside close to decorative dividing hedge. Touters came in offering to purchase their wares which was annoying - one guy was smoking whilst selling his flowers. Disappointing to be hassled them stolen from whilst eating an semi yummy meal. Watch your belongings.

Chose to have lunch here based on reviews posted on TripAdvisor and was disappointed. The quiche was okay, not great. Coffee was terrible— over-roasted and bitter. Santiago is an expensive city and this wasn't an inexpensive meal. There are many better options in this area.

We popped into cafe mosqueto for coffee and boy was it good, espresso, perfectly brewed and super tasty. Service was prompt and efficient. We would have liked to stay for lunch but there were no seats indoors and because people can smoke outside I did not want to eat outdoors and have my meal ruined by people smoking. But this is the law in Chile, it's okay to smoke in outdoor eating areas, as an Australian we are not used to this and it really ruins your food! The food did look fabulous so if I'm ever back here, I'll be sure to give it a try.
