Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staying at the Orly hotel just along the road, we walked out to find a bar to have a drink and something to eat and were delighted to find a table outside, under shaded trees - we drank from the Happy Hour drinks menu, ordered Empanadas for a starter, followed by the traditional pork sandwich and also a chicken Cesar salad. A great vibe going on at this busy bar \ restaurant, many local people enjoying the warm evening. All the food and drinks were delivered by an extremely friendly and attentive waiter. Food was tasty, the salad was a very generous size which I couldn't finish! Happy house prices - a glass of sparkling wine was the equivalent to £2.50; a pint of local beer equivalent to £2.00; gin and tonic £2.00 Recommended!

We entered Fuente Alemana, expecting an ordinary restaurant with set tables, but met the most vibrant place where people sat around the bar. We had a Lomito with mayo, tomato and avocado and a large draft beer - it was delicious. The beer was cold and the meat was very juicy and none of us could eat more than half a sandwich.

Loved this place, feels truly authentic, they have decades of experience making the best sandwiches in Chile! We ate "Lomito" with avocado, tomato, mayo. It was a dream! Huge, delicious, no fat on the meat. The people were really nice and efficient. The place is impeccably clean, we saw them cleaning the sandwich-making-station after each order. And really value for money! Recommend!

I went here due to so many reviews and websites from foreign visitors. I found that the food was so-so. I also found that ordering the works (completo) had waaaay too much mayo dumped on it. It might be a thing in Chile, but I personally wasn't fond of bland and over-mayo'd food.

This is THE place to go to if you are looking for a typical, local, down-to-earth eatery where many locals go. Walking distance from the metro station. The completos (Chilean style hot dogs) are excellent. We had the "italiano" style with pasta (avocado paste), home made mayonnaise, tomatoes, etc. We also added sauerkraut.. Great beer selection of local crafts. I also so that their burgers are HUGE and come with plenty ingredients!

Tour Guide Maurice, Chilean Wine Lovers took us to Fuente Alemana. We are so glad he did. Casual Diner type place with Huge Pulled Pork Sandwiches. Yumm. Clean and great service.

It took us four days to get a walk in table but worth the wait. Service is a little curt but the food and drink make up for it. Steak sandwiches made to order and very reasonably priced.

I paid a ridiculous amount of money for a "Completo Italiano" one of the simplest snacks with the lowest quality of ingredients. The only reason why they charge so much money is because they are in a very busy area but is bull****. Don't go!

This place is a traditional Chilean sandwich place. It keeps traditions and flavors. It’s good. But if you want to innovate or have a better experience go to La Yunta.

My wife and I ate here on a recommendation from a local we met on the plane. It did not disappoint. Fair warning, if you're on diet or watching your cholesterol, you may want to customize your order which comes standard with about 1/4 cup of mayo and a 1/4 cup of avocado, nicely seasoned with salt. Add to that the bun, tomato, cheese (which we left off) and meat, and you have a monster, delicious sandwich. The ordering process can be a little overwhelming, and seating is a free for all, so be prepared to watch, listen and learn. But definitely try it.

The cab driver (airport to hotel) recommended this place, and he was so right. This is basically a cafeteria. Simple and cheap. I had a Lomita, a pulled pork HUGE sandwith with a smear of Mayo and a smear of Avacado. I sat at a u-shaped bar where very attentive waitresses took super care of the customers. I speak virtually no Spanish but was able to communicate with a little pointing and a helpful person in the next seat. The Lomita was a great sandwich, the pork was thinly sliced and tasty. I really enjoyed my sandwich. It was really a very enjoyable experience. We Americans can sometimes do better by talking less and listening and observing more. Would definitely add Fuente Alemana on a short-list of must eat at places in Santiago.

This local favourite is worth a visit. Yes, the portions are huge and it can be very busy, but it appears to be an institution in Santiago. It was recommended to us by a local and it did not disappoint. It is an experience, not just a meal. It does have a complicated ordering system, and if you are non Spanish speaking, you may need to seek someone out who can assist you. Enjoy!

Simply amazing. The place is very simple, mainly used by the locals (the place is always crowded). The sandwich is worth eating. I suggest the pork "completo" and a chopp. Do not forget to give a tip directly to the waitress (IMPORTANT).

This is a classic “sandwichería” that has kept its recipe for years. The sandwiches are famous for its size and taste. Mayonnaise is the key ingredient. Try the churrasco, the rumano or the pork. No tables only bar. Do never ask for ketchup!! Only 2 blocks from Metro P. Valdivia. You won’t regret.
