Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have nothing to add to the great reviews already posted in English and Spanish about this place. I was walking north of the Plaza de Armas near the market and saw a very busy food place filled with locals. I followed the crowd and ordered a very good cheese empanada for 1400 cp. Later in the day I researched the place on the internet and discovered that it has been in business since the 1930s. Zunino's would not have survived such a long time unless it offered an excellent product that the public wanted. Recommended.

Very busy with locals and some tourists but not many. Came for what I was told were amazing empanada days and this place did not disappoint. They are baked and one with pico (olives, egg, beef, onion) and the other queso (cheese). You walk in and pay first. Take the receipt to people behind counter and in 2 seconds you will have your order. Be careful eating as quite hot! Great experience while here in Santiago. Close to central market

This is a typical place where locals come. They serve a very limited choice but you don't care. There's one specialty ordered by almost everyone. Take it and eat it fresh. It is very yummy, belly filling. Enjoy the crowd, noise and people coming in/out for a snack.

This local joint is a MUST TRY. It reminded me of a spot like LA's "Pink's Hot Dogs" The history that Emporio Zunino holds!! HUGE empanadas....Massive. Loved the flavor...Be careful of the first bite. SUPER HOT !!

Amazing empanadas in Santiago! Great combination together with the pineapple juice. Definitely a great address in Santiago, both to eat in or to take away 🇨🇱

Opened since 1938 and a local favorite for empanadas. The food is inexpensive, serves empanadas, 1 kind of pizza and drinks. Locals stopped in for a quick snack throughout the day. The cheese empanada is a puff pastry with white cheese inside. The meat version is baked, filled with a mixture of onions, meat , egg and a whole olive with pit. So watch out for the pit. All items are served hot from the oven. Worth a try.

If you are in the area of the central market and want a snack this place is great. Strictly eat at the counter or take away. Place order at window and pay. Get a ticket and collect food at the counter . We had a Pino empanada, a queso empanada and one coke light for around $5. The empanadas were pretty darn good and fresh because of the volume this place does.

It’s tradicional and classic visitation besides of Central Market at city center. You have to taste “empanada”.

Don't be too intimidated by the lines. It goes pretty fast. There are 2 windows to pay and then you get a ticket to take to the counter. There are only 3 options - pino (traditional Chilean beef with onions with boiled egg and an olive inside), cheese or pizza.

The place is really authentic, this is a historical place from Santiago and probably one of the oldest selling empanadas.

Very busy cafe where you stand to eat your cheese or meat empanadas or pizza only two things on the menu. Food is constantly being cooked so fresh an hot and very good value for money. You line up any pay first then take your order ticket to the serving counter to receive your food. They also have tea and coffee but no milk for the tea it was fine black. Empanadas 1300 pesatas pizza 850 pesatas.

The Empanadas at this place are mind blowingly good. The Pino is great but the Queso (cheese) one will blow your socks off. I had a Pino and even though I was full I still ate a Queso one! Seriously good food. Walk in, line up, pay (Pino is $1100, Queso $1300) then take your ticket to the counter for the best empanada you have ever had.

This corner empanada shop has been in Santiago for years and has a reputation for having the best empanada. It is definitely one of the oldest but I would disagree with it being the best. The restaurant is located in a corner of the central market and has a unique atmosphere. It is not self-serve but your make your selection and pay for your food at the cashier first and then pickup your food at the counter. There are not tables so you stand to eat. They have three types of empanadas, pino (traditional meat), jamon y queso (ham and cheese), or queso (cheese). They are served on paper napkins and can be quite messy to eat. I felt that the pino was very runny. If you want to say you have been there, then get in line and have an empanada. If want to try an empanada in a more relaxed atmosphere, empanada are available everywhere and at better prices, and with table service.

Its where the locals go. That is why we saw a line up for their empanadas. Line up to get in, you pay, get your ticket, you give it to one of the fellows behind the counter and then you stand to eat . Its a great place with lots of ambiance and vibe. Don't miss it...we had the meat and cheese...yummy and cheap!
