We were looking for a special place to take my parents out for lunch. Ernesto is a great waiter and made our lunch a real experience. We told him about our tastes and preferences and he and the staff organized a wonderful lunch with incredible varieties of Sushi and Ceviche, prepared especially for us. We loved the creative ways the food was prepared! One Nigiri came with tiny fried quail eggs on top and was flambéed right on the table. The Ceviche had deep frozen (with liquid nitrogen) tiger milk that created an incredible effect when mixed with the fish (you’ve got to see it). All in all an unforgettable experience! Thanks again to Ernesto for going out of his way to make everything perfect!

We thoroughly enjoyed out seats at the bar, talking and joking with Nico and the staff, even though we each spoke minimal of the other's language. Even though a tasting menu is not listed, when we requested that idea, our server was happy to make recommendations and put delicious courses in front of us. She also recommended a unique Chardonnay to pair with everything, and we were very happy with her choice. Our two favorite dishes were the salmon topped with seared foie gras, and the scallops with oyster sauce treated with the blowtorch, and topped with lime zest that just knocked it out of the park! My husband also greatly enjoyed the lamb chops while I had the chocolate dessert.
The staff were uniformly helpful, warm and friendly. We were stuffed at the end of the evening and felt like we got a fantastic deal with a bill a little over $200 (including a bottle of wine), especially in comparison to our $500 bill at Borago the night before. We would come back to Karai in a heartbeat!

I keep coming back every time I’m in town for business. The most creative and unique dishes made from the freshest sea food and produces of fine selection. As an avid foodie and world travel, Karai is up on my list of top restaurants. It lived up to the accolades of its master creator and chef. I make sure I sit at the counter so I can see Nicolas work his magic. And the service simply superb. No other place has their oysters. They are out of this world.

The food was amazing...at the end of the night we saw a cook, who was making some kind of dressing, tasting it right out of the spoon, then put it back in the dressing...it was four times in a row.
We complained to the waitress, who cares a lot, and to the main chef, but we felt a feeling of carelessness about it.
So expensive to see what we saw

Great service: I asked my very attentive and friendly waiter for recommendations, and he prepared a tasting menu for me (asking me a few questions for preferences, and taking into account my preferred price range too). Delicious food. I was full but couldn't resist getting dessert to finish with, which was also wonderful.

Our server for the night was Antonio, who gave the absolute best recommendations and was very attentive throughout.
We started with a courtesy bite of a fried white fish that was the catch of the day on beetroot sauce which was divine. I don't usually like fish or seafood but the food here is too amazing not to try.
For drinks we ordered the Hato, which is an incredibly unique mix of flavours, sweet, spicy and salty in equal measure and delectable.
My friend had the Hana which was also very good, a nice option for someone who wants something a bit more mild both in flavour and in alcohol content. It's a very nice passion fruit cordial based drink that's not very sweet.
Altogether for the entrees/main course we ordered the tantamen which is a spicy pork lamen. Absolutely delicious unami flavor, beautifully braised pork, and a perfect soft boiled egg. The spice is quite mild which is just how I like it. Enough to give great flavour but not so much I felt the need to chug water or milk afterward.
My companion had the enrolladito de foie, which she thought was very flavourful, noting particularly the freshness of the fish and the sweetness of the sauce. The nigiris are flambéd when the waiter brings them to the table and makes them particularly toasty. The foie gras was a very nice finishing touch to the dish and the fat from it carries the flavour well. She also has the cangreburguer which was very zesty and the sauce had a sweet and sour touch. The fried crab was very crisp and worked well with the rest of the dish. The steamed buns were soft and a nice contrast to the crispiness of the crab.
For dessert we shared the citrix after they gave us a small palete cleanser (a little strawberry sweet, very mild on the sweetness, exploded in your mouth, literally). The citrix was very flavourful, it comes with a cold brew chaser that balances the sweet tartness of the dessert perfectly.
The bill ran us around 87 thousand CLP (for the meal + a 15% tip) which I feel was absolutely worth it for the quality of the food and the service.
All in all every single dish was a hit and in our short stay in Santiago we already plan to come back before we leave the city. Thoroughly recommend.

As panasian cusine lovers, my wife and I were pretty excited at the prospect of dining at Karai while staying at the W. Beyond their overwhelmingly eclectic menu, there was a fascinating creative twist to each dish presented to us. Our waiter Manuel N. curated a blind selection of dishes that took us on a flawless culinary journey carefully crafted by an expert brigade. He was kind, welcoming, friendly and created the perfect experience for us. Greatest Hits: Tiradito Karai, Usuzukuri, De Orilla, Xocoflow. Bonus track: Uni gunkan maki. Muchas gracias!

Arrived in Chile from Buenos Aires and just wanted to have an easy meal in our hotel, the W. So Karai by Mitsuharu it was. What a lovely joy. I had probably the best pisco sour of my life (without egg white!). Got started talking with the waiter about having had a pisco sour with Huacatay (the southern cone marigold found in Patagonia and edible). He indicated that they had a crab nigiri with a Huacatay dessing so that was an absolute yes. We then had a tiridita which was absolutely beautifully presented and melt in th mouth delicious. The complementary amuse bouche were also great fun. Oysters but not oysters complete with edible coastal veg. This was fine dining with extremely well thought out dishes.

An outstanding array of dishes, drinks and desserts. We absolutely enjoyed everything from the atmosphere to the service of the staff and the flavourful food. Ernesto and Francisco were our waiters for the night, they were very pleasant and welcoming, the rest of the staff we briefly interacted with were also delightful. In terms of the food, we enjoyed the entire experience. The plating made everything seem appetizing, it was extremely beautiful and colorful. We will definitely be coming back, the quality of everything at karai was magnificent.

Left feeling disappointed. Food was good, but they had no tiradito, though it was listed on the menu. Had a 50+ minute wait between dishes and was offered a water that still made an appearance on the final bill. Didn’t feel that the price reflected the overall quality of the product.

After a five day backpacking trek through Torres del Paine, we were excited to enjoy something more than camp food in Santiago. I came across Karai from an Eater list and was excited to explore Nikkei cuisine and the unique flavors of
We came for lunch on Wednesday without a reservation and had no challenge finding a seat. Our server, Antonio, was exceptional and each of his recommendations was spot on! For the two of us, we ordered: de orilla, salmon tiradito and sakai, lamb dumpling, cordero nitsuke and the ice tea and yuzu ice cream sandwich for dessert.
Every single item was exquisite and my only regret is having just one stomach. Antonio was humorous throughout, provided great directions on the food and gave some other food recommendations for our stay. 10/10 and can’t wait to come back!

The food here is absolutely outstanding and without a doubt, the best meal we’ve had in Chile.
You’re in for a treat if you’re lucky enough to be served by Antonio. He talked us through the menu, gave us excellent recommendations and shared details of every dish he served, including how to eat it.
We had the ngiri, tiradito, lamb dumplings, lamb shank and the matcha ice cream sandwich for dessert. Everything was outstanding but the tiradito (de orilla) was the star of the show and an explosion of delightful flavors and textures. You absolutely have to try it.
Every dish was delightful, both to my palette and eyes. We came at lunch time and had the place to ourselves. If you’re in Santiago, you have to make a stop here.

We dined at Karai for our anniversary. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing. We had made reservations through the W Insider and had mentioned that we are vegetarians.
The menu did not have any vegetarian options. The staff and chef came back with a list of things they could do for us. We asked them to surprise us and we were surprised and happy.
I was tempted to give this one a 5 Star but the lack of vegetarian menu made me decide on "Very Good" vs "Excellent"

¡Hola Girishr917!
Thank you so much for leaving us your comment!
We are very glad that you could enjoy our food. We understand that it could be disappointing not to find vegetarian options in the menu, but we always do our best to prepare delicious meals for vegetarian custumers too! We are working on a special menu with many veggie dishes.
Come back soon!

We had the tasting menu which was delightful. This was multiple courses, each one offering something different, including palate cleansers, great sushi, and wonderful main courses. Michelle provided excellent hospitality, where we never felt rushed and experienced great service.
Cocktails were innovative and wine list was well constructed. I will be recommending this to friends who visit Santiago!

Hands down one of my top 3 meals of all time. The flavors were simply amazing. I suggest letting your server surprise you - you won't be disappointed. Our team loved it so much we came back on our last night to experience it again. Eduardo was our server both times and provided wonderful suggestions. He had a deep understanding of the food and his attention to detail just completely elevated our dining experience.
