Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a very sweet little place but there are plenty of other dinky little locales which offer a similar taste at a lot lower price. Its location and premises are good, but I think it’s a little overrated. The food and service is average...but at least you get a menu with pictures.More

Kung Pao dumplings? Really? THis place is the real deal and is delicious. Walked here on my first day and ordered three different types of dumplings, including ones that were rainbow colors that they recommended. Kung Pao, mushrooms, pok and shrimp dumplings were all equally...delicious. I did take-out, but the restaurant, while dark is for locals. English isn't spoken, but the menu has pictures to choose from.More

This restaurant was a great little find in the backstreets behingd the Great Wall Hotel (turn left out of the hotel, then first left and then left again; it is about half way up the block). It has two menus - a dumpling menu and...a 'normal' meal menu. We chose the latter and the food was great. Friends chose the dumpling menu and were equally very pleased. Two main meals and 2 x 600 ml beers came to 220 yuan, Excellent value.More

We had the green beans with pork which were fantastic and 2 types of dumplings, the shechzan chicken and the pork and cilantro both were good and different to ones we have had before. Friendly service.

The restaurant is set up in a quasi traditional style with dining areas spread inside a pretty courtyard with vegetation and little fountains. For our large group - 9 people, we got a private room that was a bit tight, but we managed to fit...in. Menu had lots of choices of dumplings (ones with purple cabbage seem to be the house specialty) and other choices. Eggplant was particularly good. Given a large group we had an amazing variety. Bathrooms are squat-style and the sink to wash hands not terribly convenient - this item should be improved.More

I live in walking distance of this place. Its our favorite go to. We like the decorated dining room you can find on the far right of the restaurant. Don't miss it, better than the sterile white section on the left. You will take a...little walk, over a small bridge, see chinese decor as you approach the dining room section. My husband likes the dumplings. I'm not thrilled with boiled dough on the outside, although here it is very colorful. There was also a lotus dish that was fabulous, and an eggplant dish not on the menu that is great too. Come here, you won't be disappointed.More

Came here because the shop we wanted to go was closed. When I did a Google search this was apparently “touristy”. But we went ahead anyway since it was 2.30pm and most shops were already closed for lunch break. There were over 50 choices to...pick from but we chose the one on their front page. The skin of the dumpling is optional and it’s all natural from veggies. We opted for it just because it looks prettier. Every bite has oozing broth inside and it is so juicy!!! There are sauces that came with it which we ordered but hardly used it. It’s best to be eaten with vinegar.... Each portion has about 6-7 dumplings (they count by weight so some gets 6, some gets 7 depending on how big the filling of the dumpling is). Some other food we had from the menu was no good. The braised pork ribs was definitely not cooked within 15 mins, just heated up food. Other than dumplings don’t bother. But I did notice people having Shui Zu Yu (Sichuan chilli fish) which looks super good but we didn’t have room to eat anymore. I can’t give them 5 stars because the ambience isn’t particular great, it was cold inside, one waitress managing the entire place and people were just unhappy because of the slow service. Nevertheless, I will still recommend the place if you love dumplings (and only have their dumplings) - it is very good! PS: I’m a Chinese myself just that I’m not from China and have eaten many types of dumplings in my life. Beijing ones are exceptional and this place certainly cooked up yummy dumplings!!More

Just a short walk from the Kempinski Hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to the variety of tasty options on the menu. The entrance to the dining room wasn’t plainly obvious to us, and it’s not glamorous, but the people were friendly, it’s reasonably priced and...the food was authentic, local cuisine.More

Maybe it was because this was our first authentic restaurant experience in Beijing, but the Baoyuan Dumpling Restaurant is one of my favorite eats during the whole trip. We ordered a mix of dumplings, some I was interested in trying and others I thought the...kids would enjoy. Some of the dumplings are dyed cool colors. The kids enjoyed this aspect. Although I wouldn't call it super cheap compared to what you can get in Beijing, the bill certainly didn't break the bank either.More

Very low key restaurant with a wide selection of very good dumplings (some are very colorful too), delicious regular dishes (my favorites are on hot plates), and decent red wine. They have private rooms for large groups. Easy to find south east of metro langmaqiao...and all the big hotels. Not touristic at all, you dine with the locals.More

Authentic dumplings and amazing Kung pao chicken and very reasonably priced. Everything is made fresh and comes piping hot. Plenty of variety and generous servings. English is not easily understood but staff are happy to have what you want pointed out. This was a great...lunch enjoying fabulous local dumplings. Be aware that it’s also a great place for the locals so it’s constantly busy. Happy to recommend.More

They served all kinds of dumplings, many different flavours from traditional ones, to seafood, fish, different kinds of meats, pigs feet and chicken feet, you named it and they have it. That might explain the smell as it seems a bit dirty and a bit...smelly... The staff spoke very little English so they need and rely heavily on the menu for communication as there are many pictures. The dumplings can come plain dough, made with carrots and with beetroot. They are all delicious, some are very spicy. Beer is cold!!! Not that expensive. Great place. Went there quite often while I was living and working in China.More

We took a nice leisurely walked to this restaurant from the Four Seasons Hotel. This place is very authentic and reminds me of fish camps back in my area of the USA. My table was sticky! Lots of locals! The atmosphere was humid with smells...of squid and/or fish. They even had an electric fly zapper behind us on the wall. Picture book menu with English written in tiny letters, I had to search for it. They served everything from dumplings, to seafood, fish, different meats, pigs feet and chicken feet. That might explain the smell. The staff spoke a little English and relied heavily on the menu for communication. We ordered fried rice, which my husband loved, and three different types of dumplings. The dumpling noodles where excellent however I did not like the filling in any of the three. The filling was just a mush of different ingredients and the flavors did not stand out for me. Food a 3 Authentic, local and cheap pushed it to a 4.More
