Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great interior design and plenty of choice for dessert. Possibly the most delicious Baklavas chain you can find. Beautiful display and I love the art Deco vibes of the whole place. Outdoor area is also great and looking wonderful.

In a city full of baklava, this stands out as simply the best. The pastry is light and crisp, the honey is not too sweet, the pistachio is flavorful. I wasted too many calories trying baklava in other places. The best is here.

Saturday night and the place is heaving. Baclava to die for. Just the right sweetness and nuts. Don’t forget to have it with ice cream. Better than HM by far.

Overall: 4/5 Food: 4/5 Ambience: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Great ambience. The outlet is huge. It has a separate counter for takeaway and dining. Personally, I found the Baklawa here to be very sweet.

We visited this place based on a recommendation, and it did not disappoint. Years ago, our friends took a cooking tour here with Jojovi Travel, the same company that organized our trip. They had a fantastic time learning to make baklava, getting a bit messy...with flour in the kitchen. We, on the other hand, opted for the easier route and simply came to taste Turkey's most famous dessert. It was incredibly delicious. While you're in the area, we highly recommend taking a stroll around the Galata Tower and the Golden Horn.More

I've had my fair share of baklava, but nothing prepared me for the cold baklava at Karakoy Gulluoglu. This isn’t just any baklava—it’s a game changer. The layers are perfectly crisp, yet they melt in your mouth with a perfect balance of sweetness and richness....Each bite feels like a little piece of heaven. If you think you know baklava, you have to try this. It’s hands down the best I’ve ever had. Don’t walk—run to Karakoy Gulluoglu and treat yourself. You won’t regret it!More

This place is a haven, where every bite is a delight. The layers of flaky pastry, rich nuts, and sweet honey create a perfect symphony. The cozy ambiance adds to the experience. A must-visit for baklava enthusiasts seeking the epitome of Turkish sweetness in Istanbul.

The crowds of both locals and tourists make Güllüoğlu Karaköy (Kemankeş Cad. Katlı Otopark Altı No: 3-4 – rear entrance facing the cruise ship pier) difficult to miss and while it looks fairly nondescript from the outside, the interior offers some of the world’s finest...deserts in all their splendor and variety and is heaven for those with a sweet tooth as counters filled with dozens of baklava varieties made with fıstıklı (pistachio) and cevizli (walnut) line all four sides of the store. Just pay at the cashier for your desert and then have it filled by the smartly dressed servers behind the counters. Currently (Oct. 2023), the pastries are bargain priced at the equivalent of less than a US dollar each.More

I’m not a baklava fan but the chicolate baklava here was something else! Outstanding. They have gluten-free baklava options as well. Delicious!

The dessert assortment is a feast for the eyes. The large shop has ample tables inside and out, weather-permitting. All tourists here except for the local tour guides. We tried Baklavas all over Istanbul, prices ranged Per Kilo of Baklava from around 900Lira to 200Lira....Excellent marketing and social media had catapulted this brand into the limelight. Personally, I found it cloyingly sweet and kinda wet, a week's sugar limit for diabetics, haha. Seriously though, a bakery/patisserie, with real bakers and ovens, can make very good baklava that's a quarter or half the price.More

We were in Greece prior to coming to Turkey and this baklava is the best we’ve ever tasted. You must try a bit of everything, you’ll love it all. We visited Galata tower and this is just down the road. Well worth the visit.

Zeynep had recommended a baklava place on the waterfront so off we went. Gulluoglu Karakoy was in a very upmarket area that even included security guards in the mall next door. It was actually a huge and very busy store dedicated to baklava. We went...for the pic'n'mix option and had 6 different flavours to share. The place was crowded but we managed to sit down and eat whilst enjoying the chaos around us. Certainly a popular location and good value too.More
