Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing traditional turkish food. A lot of nice options to share. We tasted a traditional salad, eggplants, tatizikati and lamb. Everything was very good.

Hit the jackpot here, thanks to a tip off. Just off the main tourist strip, you really felt you were eating with the locals. Friendly staff, excellent food and well priced. Very pleased we went. Totally recommend.

Best food we’ve had in Istanbul. We popped in for lunch after a long morning of walking and sightseeing. We had a selection of starters and a chicken and lamb kebab for main. It was amazing

We visited this restaurant in 2018. I really liked it. And so in 2024 we decided to go to this place again. The meat is still excellent (one of the best we ate in Istanbul). But the place has become noticeably more touristy - half...of the visitors are not Turkish, which subtly affects the atmosphere of the place. And alcohol became very expensive. I don’t recommend taking wine - a bottle costs $67 and the quality is very mediocre (such “house wine” is sometimes poured into a jug as a compliment in Europe). But overall, I recommend visiting. The navigator does not always allow you to find this place, since the restaurant is in a small side street, which is not always shown on the map. This place serves up some of the most tantalizing flavors I've ever experienced. We started with their spiced chili paste, served alongside fresh bread and ordered feta cheese – an absolute delight. Then, we delved into their main courses, including succulent lamb shish, flavorful Adana...kabab, and tender mutton chops. Each dish was bursting with exquisite taste and left me craving more. It was truly an amazing culinary journey that I can't wait to embark on again.More

Istanbul's best fireside (Ocakbaşı) restaurant @zubeyir_ocakbasi. Although the main branch is in Taksim, we cannot find the comfort of the Ataşehir branch anywhere else. They know so well how much and how to cook every kind of meat and even if you can enjoy your...meal without appetizers. However, I recommend you to try Roasted Eggplant, Roasted Onion and Garlic, and Gavurdagi Salad first. Tarak, Adana Kebab and Lamb Shish are perfect meat plates. The reason why we deducted 1 point is the attitude of some service personnel and some of the price scale. However, so far, they have never made me say "it is not worth" anything I have paid for the service I have received in terms of taste.More

You could taste the fresh ingredients with local flare. Food was simple done really well. Grilled meats, (lamb chops in particular) bread, yoghurt and eggplant dishes were all flavorful, fresh and recommended. Comfortable atmosphere for a really good meal! All 4 of us would go...back again if we had more time.More

Excellent experience! Try and get a table right at the grill if you don’t mind the smoke permeating your clothes afterwards. It’s fun watching them cook the delicious shish lamb kebabs, the vegetables and bread. Delicious spicy bread! Thorough recommend!

My last visit was as if "Time had stood still" ..No changes to meet with 'trends /fashion" .Just classic Istanbul Ocakbasi food done super well....There are elements that some tourists will find hard to understand. Most places in Turkey do NOT have clear prices etc on menus . This has always been a STUPID idea .But I have never once found the bill to contain items we have not ordered. I strongly feel they would not want to risk such a thing . The food and service is perfect for the experience expected . Their meat quality is of a high standard . We are back again in December this year and this time will have our friends from Istanbul with us .More

Staff is extremely bad, they forgot about our order and we waited a lot for the food. No one speaks a word of english and it is very difficult to order what you want and to communicate about food and service. Food is not bad...but wouldn't recommend or come again.More

The best grilled lamb chops are here! This restaurant was recommended by a local resident and the food is delicious. Plenty of outdoor seating and an indoor area. Fresh bread and quality meats. Just to note, they charge a cover and service charge.
