This is a great restaurant

My wife and I had dinner at Traktir with our traveling companions after a two-week photo safari in Tajikistan. It was just what we needed. The food was great and prices were reasonable. They were out of many brands of beer and vodka, but we still had a good time. We enjoyed several kinds of fresh salads, borscht and pork ribs. The staff were friendly and helpful. I had eaten at Traktir four times before this, on previous visits to Tajikistan. I have always had a good meal there. This is the place to go in Dushanbe.

Great dining in style

Traktir has been around for ages and the owner takes a personal interest, making it a truly family run restaurant. Good choice of a variety of foods and drinks in a very warm atmosphere. Worth repeat vists!

Good food in a cozy athosphere

If you want to escape the bright fluorescent lights of many of the restaurants, Traktir is an excellent choice. Cozy would be the word to describe the ambiance , and some effort has been put into the interior decoration (you must go and see the toilets :-) ). Food is very good and hearty. Try the blinis with salmon!

I an fan of Ukrainian cuisine, but this restaurant is far from what is authentic Ukrainian food. Meat Pelmeni (dumplings) is not eatable, Borsch mediocre, Kiev cutlet 2 out of 5, fish not tasty. Considering price tag, even if you miss Ukrainian food, not worth visiting.

Very cozy

This place is one of the best in Dushanbe. If you want to eat national food, don't even try to go there. It is totally Ukrainian restaurant. I like everything here - food, decoration, staff. I must say that this place is not cheap, but it worth to visit it. The atmosphere is very cosy, especially one of those near to window.

Great place

Over the past year or so we have been coming here regularly. Constantly good food, good and consistent menu choices. Clean and good setting. Service is very good ( if you come when they are very busy service can be a bit slow, but quality service is there). Recommend this place.

food poisoning

I was eating a dinner in this restaurant. After that I got the worst food poisoning in my whole life! I was vomiting and laying in the bed for next 4 days, terrible truly terrible! Avoid this restaurant if you want to stay healthy!

Excellent Ukrainian restaurant

Having tired of central Asian cuisine and seeing this in Lonely Planet we decided to give it a go. I recommend booking a table weekend evenings if possible as it gets busy. Brilliant authentic food, prompt service, nice atmosphere, and good selection of drinks. Definitely one of the better restaurants in Dushanbe. Squat toilet only but other than that nothing could be faulted!

We fancied a change from central Asian food so tried this Ukrainian restaurant recommended by Lonely Planet and only round the corner from our hotel. We were not disappointed - the waiter was very friendly and spoke very good English. Unfortunately there were no pork dishes available which are said to be very good. Instead we had Zrazy (potato pie) filled with mushrooms followed by pot roast beef and chicken with mustard sauce respectively. The zrazy were very hot and tasty. Unfortunately my chicken was lukewarm as were the side dishes of potatoes and vegetables - otherwise we would have given a 5-star rating.
