Premji Restaurant in Baku offers an exceptional Indian dining experience. Great food in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Baku is a town that has too many "Indian" restaurants. Almost all of which are owned and run by non-Indians and serve appalling food aimed at tourists who are too scared or simply too myopic to try other cuisines, Al Divan is one of the very few exceptions to this. Although Al Divan is a new name on the Indian restaurant scene in Baku it becomes very quickly clear that the ownership and management are not. Everyone clearly knows what they are doing and has been doing so for a long time. The location is amazing, it is literally in the centre of town by the very busy Nizami street, yet at the same it is 30 seconds away from the chaos in relatively much quieter location where you may dine in peace. The restaurant itself is not huge but it becomes quickly evident that this is a family -friendly atmosphere. As for the meals there are two menus. The Indian menu is superb with most of the North Indian favourites being available. Spice levels are very carefully adjusted to your liking and they are very very accommodating to those with specific dietary requirements such as vegetarian, Jain, Vegan are people with specific allergies. I'd strongly recommend the samosas as a starter (Punjabi style) and also any of the Biryanis. As for the Arab menu it also works quite well. It ranges from Levantine favourites such as Falafel and Humus (Both of which are incredible and made in-house) to Gulf and Yemen favourites such as Kabsa and Mandi. I'll be honest and confess that we ordered from both menus. The prices were consistent with those of other local restaurants if not slightly cheaper.. Finally, its not my favourite subject but its worth mentioning that the tables are socially distanced, hand gel is available, staff are all masked and in accordance with local laws, no guests were allowed to enter without proof of full vaccination. Overall, I'm delighted to recommend and will definitely be going back.

Al Diwan is one of the best restaurant in Baku. Clean ambiance food was very very tasty with a good nice of portion. I tried other indian restaurants also in Baku but wasn’t have good experience in taste wise or ambiance. I recommend you strongly

Loved the street food

This restaurant is special because it is the only one I know of in Baku that has street food on the menu - authentic and delicious. Bhel puri, sev puri, dahi puri, samosa chaat, and more - all are very good, and can be had as a snack or a meal. Highly recommended.

What a shock, we were looking forward to trying their Dosa's for breakfast on 2nd January. When we walked in there were no staff to be been seen anyway. 2 other tables were occupied by holiday makers from India. All sitting there waiting. After 5 minutes one other table told us they placed their order 15 minutes prior and no one had returned. My husband went downstairs and called out to any staff, no answer. Came back to table and then a few minutes later went down and called out again. Staff were standing around chatting. Waiter then came upstairs and brought food for other tables then looked at us but didn't have a menu. At this stage we left. My husband who works in Health and Safety said the kitchen downstairs was absolutely filthy. Everything was. Then i noticed under our table several dirty napkins and bits of food, obviously from the day before. Then there was food on one of the spare chairs at our table. Shocking. We have holidayed in India every year for the past 3 years and didn't see any restaurant that was dirty at all. I am not happy about posting a review such as this, but honestly we were absolutely shocked at the state of the restaurant. Don't go.

Great Indian food

This is the best Indian food we’ve had in Baku on our 6 day trip so far. Nice selection for vegetarians too and very reasonably priced. They make it ‘spicy’ on request. Service with a smile was great too. It’s located close to Nazimi Street on a quieter side lane.

Al Divan which has gone thru a name change now as understand will be called " Premji " is an Indian Restaurant The quality of the food was superb , service was impeccable under the watchful eye of the owners who interacted with all the guests , There were groups of Indian tourists who all seemed to be enjoying the food and service Premji is a definite stop when you are in Baku for some mouth watering Desi food We will definetly visit Premjis the next time we are back in Baku Keep up the good work - Premjis 🎊💐👍
