I grew up in Augusta, and on a visit for the weekend, decided to eat at Abel Brown's with some friends. We ordered a 1/2 Dozen of the Broiled Oysters, which had jalapeno, harissa lime butter, and parmesan and these were my favorite! The Oysters Rockefeller were okay, but the Broiled were my favorite! I ordered the Roasted Golden Beet Salad as an appetizer, and it was not bad, but I don't think I would order it again. We ordered the charcuterie board to share, and the meat & cheese selection, jam and mustard were very tasty! Loved it! My friend ordered the Georges Bank Scallops and I tried them, and I would order them next time. They were flavored with lemon thyme carrot puree, lemon beurre blanc, ham, and cannolini beans. You get a nice portion of food for the price you pay, so it is all worth it. I will be going back again many times when I visit in the future!

We had a table for 8 reserved and showed up with 9 people ... the restaurant was apologetic for delaying our sitting (by less than 15 mins) and comped us several appetizers and a drink for each ... this is what customer service is all about! After all that, the food came out and EVERYTHING was of extremely high quality and delicious. This place gets a 5 star from us!

If you are on a tight budget or have a large family, you might want to check prices first. It is a more expensive restaurant; however, I think it was worth the cost. Our server was Ariel. She was exceptional. She did not stop at our table every time she walked by, but she did seem to know when we needed her. I got the Ribeye Steak. I am from Texas and enjoy steak. It had a unique flavor and I enjoyed the light smoke flavor. It was prepared very well and was tender. My wife got the pork chop. She loves pork chops and she said that it was easily one of the best she has ever had. She also said that the veggie had a great flavor and were not over cooked. We eat out a lot. There are some places that we will not revisit. Abel Brown is not one of them. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

I love seafood and live on the coast of North Carolina. So I think I understand good seafood preparation. I ordered Shrimp and Grits, expecting to be in for a treat. What I received was a Mound of gummy grits, 6 Rubbery shrimp with their tails on, 2 andouille sausages uncut, and there was no rue gravy. My wife' Striped Bass filet dinner was sadly lacking in quality. Striper is usually white and flakey and not a strong fish in taste. What she got was an over grilled thin filet with the blood meat not removed and very fishy in taste. Needless to say we will not come back again.

Restaurant menu was an abridged version of the online menu. Ordered a cocktail from online menu and was disappointed and incredulous bartender was able to comply. The cocktail brought to the table had to be sent back. Food preparation was uninspired.

First time here. My wife and i took a couple of friends here when they were visiting. They were very impressed. Our waitress, a small red head with glasses, seemed to take pride in working for such a restaurant and was very knowledgeable about the food she was serving. We asked her about wines and she directed us to the “change of pace” option on their wine menu and helped us choose the perfect bottle for the occasion. The food was fantastic and full of flavor, even for our friends that needed accommodations to their order (this place can deal with almost any allergy, which is great). Atmosphere of the restaurant was that of a busy bustle but we were made to feel like it wasn’t. Will definitely be back soon.

Checked with two friendly hostesses. Seated in Ariel's section, the southern hospitality continued. Great suggestions on menu choices. Hot bread right out with water. Very nice wine by the glass choices you don't see every day, enjoyed a yummy Sauvignon Blanc from France. Main course was blackened halibut with fried clam strips over best darn sausage rice. Unbelievable! Owner came by to chat, nice touch! Another Sauvignon Blanc for dessert, no room in my tummy for the house made desserts.

We were in Augusta for Master's week and had dinner here on Tuesday evening. The waitress, Sidney, was excellent. She knew the menu and was engaging. We started with Oysters Rockefeller and were disappointed. The oysters were small and slimy enough that the spinach mixture slid off and it was difficult to eat them as a complete product. They were also not served on a bed of rock salt as is usually done. We also had the crab cake appraiser which looked like a brown onion instead of a crab cake and was not close to a crab cake from Maryland.
We all ordered wedge salads next and I have to say these wedge salads we embarrassingly small. You could have covered them with a decent sized tortilla chip or a dollar bill. Naturally, they were also a disappointment.
As entrees we had the ribeye, the halibut and the pork chop. The entrees were passable and the ribeye was quite good.
The deserts were all disappointing, but the brownie bar and the key lime pie were embarrassingly disappointing for their presentation and quality, especially considering their price.
The restaurant was quite busy and we kept discussing how they could draw such a crowd. I guess it was Master's week and you have to take what you can get.

Of all the restaurants on Highland Avenue I have to say this one we the best one to go for dessert. A friend of mine and I had a girls night out Friday and I wanted to come here so badly again the thing was is that the hours that they open were from 5 to later. I'm glad I got a chance to try this out with her. At first we wanted to try the chocolate croissant bread pudding however we eventually decided on mother dessert which was the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting with blood orange sauce and pecans and boy was it excellent. I still would like to try the chocolate croissant bread pudding but the carrot cake was top-notch excellent and wonderful dessert we have ever tasted. Also really wonderful service along with really wonderful food. I like to see what it's like to dine here for dinner but I'm more of a dessert person so I'll go with that. If you haven't came to this restaurant yet I encourage you to.

As always this place never disappoints. Masters week and the service and food was spot on. Raw oyster selection is varied and they serve them southern style with saltine crackers and cocktail sauce. I had the seared tuna, perfect. Great cocktails and very good wine list.

Our experience here was pure excellence. From our knowledgeable waitress Amanda, to the varied oyster selection, to the delicious entrees, the evening was fantastic. The smoked ribeye was so good, we ended up sharing it with our group. The pork chops were also delicious. Just a tremendous place.

Really good food. The oysters are fantastic. Had them raw and rockafeller. Both were perfect. All of the food is presented in a unique way that makes each plate, no matter how small, feel special. Very good service and cool atmosphere. I’d crave this place if I was a local. I’ll have to wait till I’m back in Augusta.

Wonderful service, delicious drinks, amazing food! Our server was so warm, attentive, accommodating, and knowledgeable of the menu! He made several perfect recommendations which even included wine to pair with our meal. We had a dozen broiled oysters to start and when I say they may very well be the best thing I’ve ever eaten, do not take it with a grain of salt, nor a stone on a bed of the rock variety. We enjoyed the Caesar salads and both ordered the ribeye. Much to our delight, they were fork tender and practically melted in our mouths! We were late getting into town and did not make a proper reservation, but we’re still welcomed with the utmost hospitality and seated right away. The experience was beyond stellar.. From the ambiance, to the service, to the drinks, to the delectable fare! Abel Brown hit it OUT OF THE PARK!

Good atmosphere for a nice restaurant. The food is good but the cost is on the high side.
I had the Rib Eye and it was priced on the high side. The sides that came with it was some baby arugula and French fries looking (5 total). The steak was seasoned well and cooked good.
I also grab a salad that I was told was close to a traditional house salad called a Bibb salad. Not really that good and no where close to a house salad.
The special appetizer was the scallop roll. It was awesome and would recommend it.
Overall the meal was good but the price was high, good for a special occasion but not sure I would come on a regular bases.

I came with a friend to have a good time, at the end of the evening we asked for 2 separate bills, they brought them to us, we paid them and everything seems to be fine, but there is one thing but ... they debited the amount from my account much more than was in the bill ... I had to spend my time and nerves and go there to deal with it, the money was naturally returned to me, but an unpleasant aftertaste remained. There is no desire to return to this place where the inattentive staff works. And my advice is to check your account after payment every time
