The food, drinks, and atmosphere in this place all made me want to return. It’s worth going out of your way for. The special was barracuda, which is interesting, but I was between the ribeye and snapper. Although the ribeye was more expensive, the server recommended the snapper because many people from the US (like me) have noted that the beef in Belize doesn’t taste like the beef they’re used to. It was very, very good. Recommend.

Oh wow, this place was so great! We came as a family of four with our two children (ages 13 and 10). My son and I ordered the seafood alfredo and I think I am going to have fantasies about that dish for the rest of my life. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi which was delicious, but the serving size was too small for him and he was still hungry at the end of the meal. My daughter ordered the ribeye which was very fresh, but the cut was a little tough. Overall, we loved this meal and this restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly and sweet and offered lots of tips on fun things to do around the island as a family. This was the most expensive restaurant we stopped at so far on our vacation, but for what you get it is well worth the price.

Our party of four had four different seafood entrees and we all raved at the quality and flavor. We had a delicious shrimp dip for an appetizer and a bottle of wine to tie it all together. The waitress and other attendants were friendly and provided great service all for what was a very reasonable price.

This was a recommendation from our hotel for dinner. Service wasn’t great, twice we ordered main courses, server came back minutes after stating they were out, It was late but I expect them to let us know in advance. A glass of Merlot was cold coming out of the fridge. The lasagna mediocre, steak ($30 usd) was really bad, tough and too much garlic, most likely frozen. Blackened snapper was in some weird marinade with way too much salt. It was not blackened. Sorry guys, it wasn’t good. Hope it was a fluke...

We started with calamari. Being used to calamari in the states, which is always frozen, we were blown away. This was hands-down the best calamari we have ever had! So tender! It’s from the local waters. The cocktail sauce was perfect as well. I’m used to marinara so I was a bit skeptical of the cocktail, but it was amazing. Ask for a lime wedge...a little squirt woke up the flavor even more. For the main course, my hubby was inquiring about the steak. The server explained that Belizean beef is a bit different from beef in the US. So he selected the pork medallions instead. He said it was the best pork he’s had (aside from mine, ha ha). He raved about the sauce. It came with a twice-baked potato which he said was good, but he only had a few bites since we watch our carbs. My 13 yo daughter had the Sunshine Snapper. She loved it!! She’s a picky eater so that’s a pretty good compliment. She LOVED the coconut rice. I tasted a bite and it was a bit sweet for my taste, but it had a lovely flavor. I will try to recreate it at home for her. I had the Blackened Snapper. It was also delicious, but it wasn’t what I would call “blackened”. It was very mildly spiced and didn’t have the typical crust you find on blackened fish. Still, it was excellent. I skipped the rice and did double veggies, which were yummy. The carrots were ordinary but the grilled zucchini was wonderful. A glass of the house Pinot Grigio was very good. We didn’t save room for dessert. Enjoy!

Our dinner at the Black Orchid was a great experience: the atmosphere was beautiful and welcoming, and the service was fantastic: from the minute we were greeted at the door to the the fresh hand towels delivered to the table, to the close attention by the super-friendly servers, I'd return to the Black Orchid just to enjoy the friendly staff alone. The food was very good; the highlight of the meal, for us, was the appetizer of ginger pork egg rolls....and the dessert of espresso mint ice cream! Both were fantastic, as was the coffee. We all had snapper which was thoughtfully prepared and came with coconut rice and vegetables. I woud definitely recommend Black Orchid when staying on Ambergris Caye!

The service and food were top notch. We drove past the restaurant and noticed their sign for happy hour. We stopped in and enjoyed very, very economically priced drinks during happy hour and decided to come back later for dinner. MAKE RESERVATIONS! (Glad we did even on a Tuesday) Our orange-rum crusted grouper, sunshine snapper, and shrimp scampi were absolutely delicious. Even the side dishes of grilled veggies, coconut rice, and twice baked potato were special. You can’t go wrong here.

Initially, I wasn’t sure about choosing Black Orchid because it’s south of town. The distance was shorter than we expected that I’m glad after reading Trip Advisor reviews, we chose Black Orchid. The food was good and our server provided exceptional service. The air conditioning is turned off because of Covid and instead windows and doors are open with fans circulating air. Our server made sure the fans were blowing on us to keep us cool and keep the bugs away. We appreciated that the staff were trying to create an enjoyable dinner environment. While many promote going into town to eat, I’m glad we chose to go south of town to Black Orchid to eat.

We finally were able to get over to the Black Orchid for dinner tonight, and we were pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem! Our waitress, Atell, greeted us with a smile (behind her mask of course), and attended to us continuously throughout our meal. We started with the calamari, which tasted so fresh that you'd think it was freshly caught this morning. For our meal, we chose the Grouper with rice and veggies, and the Surf & Turf combo of beef and shrimp scampi, twice baked potato and veggies. The grouper dish was delightful, so fresh and great flavor. Even the rice was deliciously light and sweet. The scampi was served over homemade pasta that was amazing. Our water glasses were never left empty, and the staff was sure to check on us to make sure everything was to our liking. We ended our meal with ice cream, espresso and vanilla which is made locally. The espresso had chocolate chips and just a hint of mint to satisfy my tastebuds. I cannot think of anything bad to say about this visit. Everything was perfectly enjoyed. If you ever get to the San Pedro area, be sure to check out the Black Orchid. You will not be sorry.

This place is absolutely terrible. I've been coming to Belize for 15 years and have had several decent meals at this establishment. I have no idea what happened to this place however their service and food took a nose dive this evening. My family came in early around 6PM and had to flag down the general manager several times to order food and drinks. The meatballs were awesome and the only thing worth talking about for the meal. My wife didn't get a salad which was ordered. We did not get our leftovers from our appetizer. My crab special was cold and tasteless as was my wife's shrimp. Worst crab I've ever had in my life. They offered to replace and I got blacked snapper. Tasted like it had been defrosted before cooking. General Manager tried to comp meal however I'm not looking for handouts. I wanted a good meal which I did not receive. I'm not sure how this place stays in business, perhaps everyone that likes it sticks with the Italian food. I recommend the restaurant do the same and leave any thoughts of seafood on the menu behind. I will not ever return which is sad since I live down the street. Hopefully a new chef and GM get hired sometime soon. Otherwise they should build houses on this lot and shut it down. Stay clear.

The cool wet towels were refreshing after the dusty cart ride to the hidden gem of the location. The food was delicious; fresh grouper, tasty shrimp dip, perfectly cooked calamari. The staff was so warm and welcoming, especially for our 1-year old toddler that was over stimulated for the day - they just loved his grumpy self. My second time visiting and will go back every time I am in SP.

My fiancé and I made reservations at Black Orchid for our first night in San Pedro. We were staying less than a mile away so we walked, but be warned the mosquitoes can be bad. Definitely spray on the deet if you walk. We were pleasantly greeted by the staff as we entered and were refreshed by the cooler temperature indoors. Once seated, we noticed all the intriguing decor around the restaurant, the owners must be collectors of some kind. We enjoyed the light story of how the restaurant got it's name on the menu as well. Throughout our dinner service was fast, personable, and simply a delight. The staff were all kind, attentive, and enthusiastic. We ordered the ginger pork egg rolls for our appetizer. The ginger came through and bound the dish's flavor profile together. It came with a sweet sauce that paired well with the ginger in the rolls. We also received a complimentary half baguet, made fresh in house. The bread was fluffy inside and had a fantastic crust, not too hard or soft, just right. The bread was quite good. For our entrées we ordered the Sunrise Snapper and the Crusted Orange Rum Grouper. Both seafood dishes were quickly prepared and served with coconut rice, soft steamed carrots, and some lightly grilled zucchini. The grouper came with a sweet sauce that I believe had a fish sauce base, but I could be wrong. The breading was well done, light, golden, and crispy. The grouper was also cooked very well and the taste was there to match. To be honest, the dish was quite well paired. Every piece worked with each other and kept me wanting another bite. My fiancé felt the same about the Snapper. Although we didn't have cocktails, we did order a Coke and a Sprite, which were served in a nice glass on it's own plate. The way they prepped the straw is worth seeing in person. Finally, for desert we had fresh vanilla ice cream and red velvet cake made in house. Absolutely delicious. We quickly paid our bill and walked back with bellies full of good food. We'd go back again and would highly recommend Black Orchid to anyone looking for a dinner spot in south AC.

Well-run, upscale, table linens, warm towels at the beginning to wash your maybe beachy hands. Our table had the Sunshine Snapper, Blackened Snapper, Spicy shrimp, and teriyaki Shrimp....all good, decent portions, grilled veggies. The side of coconut rice was my favorite! Tried banana pudding ice cream and cheesecake for dessert...good. Service was professional. It’s a nice place to go dressed up if you’re tired of your beach clothes, but most were casual even though it was New Years Eve.
