Second time trying Ethiopian food. I was very impressed with this restaurant. It is not fancy but it is a very warm & welcoming family run restaurant. Seating is not crowded and it has a relaxed atmosphere. The food was so good. We went with...the four meats and three veggie platter. As you know you eat with your hands in the traditional manner. The meats were outstanding and perfectly seasoned. The lentils were so tasty. A generous portion of Injera is provided to each diner for eating with the platter. They have a few beers and wines on their menu.More

I would give this place five stars. The food was delicious. The woman who works the front was warm and very friendly. My only complaint is that the place was infested with flies and she kept swatting at them while I was eating. It made...my stomach turn!More

Ghion is a “hole in the wall” restaurant with good food and third-world atmosphere. Our party of four ordered three Sambusas as appetizers and the meat combo (Beef Tibis, Spicy Beef Stew, Mild Beef Stew, and Gomen Besiga) with three veggies (Misir Key, Gomen, and...Fesolia) as the entree. We also ordered St. George beers. The food was delicious (though beware of the green peppers, which can be very hot), and the portions generous. We were unable to finish our food, to the mock consternation of our server. The beers were excellent. The ambiance reminded me of some of the restaurants I have patronized in the third world. When we arrived, two tables were occupied with patrons apparently waiting for their food. No server or hostess was in sight. Soon enough, the hostess/server appeared, we were seated and got busy poring over the menus. Though alone, the peripatetic server was friendly. The food was served promptly, and our server teased her clients with an outsized matronly personality. All in all, it was an excellent and fun meal.More

This is a small cozy establishment with about 5-6 tables. It is a family run restaurant and those are typically the kinds of places we prefer to visit on our vacations. The reviews were very good for this place. Unfortunately our experience didn't match those....We had a 4 veg combo plate, Doro Wat and a mild goat curry for my son. On the veg plate, the spicy lentils were good and the beets root was ok. The cabbage and the collard greens unfortunately weren't seasoned well so fell a bit flat. The star of the meal was definitely the Doro Wat....nicely flavored with the right level of spice. The goat curry felt more like a broth with some goat pieces, rather than a rich gravy. The price was very reasonable and I tipped well as the service was friendly and attentive. I've had Ethiopian food in a number of places (Nile in Orlando is amazing, and a few spots in Toronto as well) and the food at Ghion sadly didn't come close enough to those past experiences for me to recommend this restaurant. If you are planning to eat there, I would suggest going with the Doro Wat.More

This little gem may not boast the decor of former neighborhood restaurants like Etete, but the food is excellent and the owner creates a warm and hospitable experience. Wonderful chickpeas as well, don't skip them!
