Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had my 70th Birthday party there 6th April for lunch - 36 people and everyone loved it. The venue was superbly organised - the service was great and the food exceptional. We used 2 buses from Ananda tours to transport us there and back...and that service was superb too. They catered for everyone well.More

Thanks Viv We loved having you here! glad we could help make your day special

It's not the first time we've been to Passage Rock, but it was another great experience. We always cycle from Oneroa, it's not too far, but so far to get out of the whirlwind of day visitors with bus hop-on hop-off. It's the location that...makes the winery special. We like the excellent food with the view of Te Matuka Bay. The service is attentive and quick. It is a good accompaniment to the wine tasting. The wine tasting is always important to us, we travel through wine regions and discuss with the winemakers and find in David a winemaker who takes the time to discuss his wines. We really appreciated that. An order has been placed, which includes the Viognier in particular. A great white wine, just as all the other wines are inspiring. We think there is something for everyone. We'll be back, it will take time, it's a long journey from Europe, but this place is always worth a visit.More

Passage Rock is cool, understated and fabulous. The food is fresh and tasty; particularly the roast butternut squash with pomegranate dukka and yoghurt, burrata with fresh herbs and oil, cured salmon and rack of lamb with chimichurri. As for the wines; we thought we were...in heaven. It helps when the sun is beating down, David the manager is attentive and informed.More

We stopped here on the way back from a walk at Oripu with 4 well behaved dogs, the staff were very welcoming. We enjoyed a lovely lunch in a beautiful shaded area, couldn't be better.

Food was good, staff were great. Wines - not so good - a bit acidic to the palate for my taste. Maybe an acquired taste.

Our group stopped in for lunch today while on the island touring. It was a fixed menu, which was good. The portobello caprese was unique and tasty. The lamb was a tad overcooked, but good, and since my wife doesn't like lamb, they brought her...roasted butternut squash with a coconut yogurt sauce which she thouroughtly enjoyed. Didn't eat the dessert, which was meringue with cooked strawberries on it. The staff was friendly, and it's a nice outdoor venue.More

My husband and I walked in today to buy a dozen bottles of Chardonnay to take away. We waited for 15 minutes for anyone’s attention but we’re not able to get served. The guy serving a small group at the counter was too busy chatting...to them. The manager walked past us multiple times and didn’t acknowledge us. A chef made eye contact. All that was needed was “I’ll be with you in a minute.” Seriously, it wasn’t a busy day, just a Wednesday lunch time. It’s a shame because we like the wine. We won’t be back. We are locals. I won’t be able to recommend Passage Rock.More
