Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We're so glad we had made a reservation for lunch here. It's great to do a wine tasting along with food, because both taste better together. The raw fish carpaccio was delightful with a soy cream drizzled with lime juice/oil. Fried eggplant was a tasty,...crunchy dish atop hummus sprinkled with seeds and spices. The beef carpaccio was also heavenly with a pile of fresh shaved cheese on top, and a lovely cream base. We also shared a cheese plate that was piled with a number of sides and spreads. Service was very friendly and informative. An excellent way to spend a couple of hours! The wines were probably the best we tasted on Waiheke (compared to Tantalus, Casita Miro, Man O' War, Mudbrick and Stonyridge).More

I had probably the best wine experience on the island !! The place is cozy and romantic! Managers and waitresses are kind and welcoming! And last but not least the food is superb! Maybe it is because I am Italian but I felt in Tuscany...for the night, thank you 💃🏻More

Our day on Waiheke was rainy so we didn’t get to appreciate the beauty of the area but the food was quite nice. From fish croquettes to beetroot dosa we enjoyed each dish.

If you want a table with the vineyard view you probably need to book for it in advance. Reservations gone quickly. The shed is smaller than I thought, especially when the dining area is next to bar, it can be a little bit loud sometimes....Totally depend on your personal preference tho. I felt the whole environment is like ok for a vineyard but I came for fine dining, if you don’t have a table with view it’s not that amazing. The oyster is fat, big, fresh. Has a very natural taste. The fish starter is awesome, very fresh with the lemon taste. Service is amazing.More

Unfortunately we had to ask/ call for everything, we thought we treating ourselves & sadly not the case , I’m terribly disappointed had a great dining experience here many years ago , portions tiny / overpriced & even though there was enough staff we couldn’t...get even the most basic attention , it’s 4pm & we here now , not busy but waiting waiting to get someone’s attention in the restaurant courtyardMore

The Shed at Te Motu has always been our favourite Waiheke restaurant, despite being so spoilt for choice locally. My previous review from exactly two years ago is testament to this. We were excited about visiting last Saturday night for the first time since Head...Chef Yutak Son left the restaurant late last year, confident that he would be replaced by someone just as exceptional. All the staff seemed new also but from the get-go they were attentive and knowledgeable. The menu still had some all-time favourites on it, with a few twists, such as the raw fish with makrut lime oil, the Matangi beef tartare with homemade potato crisps and the world-famous-on-Waiheke Nose to Tail Cuts. Comforting to see! There were six of us, aged roughly between 60 and 70 and, as mentioned, we have all had a love affair with Te Motu - for almost 13 years. We enjoyed a round of smaller plates, all delicious, and my husband and I both ordered the Korean BBQ beef bavette for our mains. Mine was perfect; tender, pink in the middle and bursting with flavour. My husband’s was grey and dry and bore no resemblance to mine. The staff quickly whisked it away and brought out a replacement, now looking and tasting as it should, whilst we were all still eating. We were all still very happy. When the three men got up to pay things unfortunately rapidly changed. They were told, on no uncertain terms, that we could not split the payment between the three couples. One payment only. They protested of course, quoting never having to do this before and never having experienced it anywhere else etc etc. The waitress went to speak to her manager who came out and said that there was new management and this was a new policy. He then said he would make an exception, just this once, but that going forward, that was their policy (so unusual and surely not at all convenient for customers). One of our group then said that he would pay for us all but that we would now be unlikely to ever return with this policy in place. I said to the manager that we had been coming to The Shed for many years and that we would now not return and he told me I was being abusive. I asked him how was I being abusive and he just reiterated that I had been abusive. I was so stunned that I walked outside as I wasn’t able to get an answer from him. And that was how it all ended. On an unhappy, sour note.More

On a bit of a Tiki tour with family I was visiting and decided to stop at The Shed. Bottle of a really lovely rose, later… Place was buzzing, wine was flowing and some great looking food wafting out of the open kitchen. Super smart...and friendly floor crew... Booking - to eat - made for when I’m next on Waiheke in December. Can’t wait!More
