Seumus' Irish Bar is Marlborough’s favourite authentic ‘Irish pub’. Located near the Picton waterfront, the bar has a buzzing atmosphere, with live music 7 days a week throughout summer, but also on weekends year-round. With a menu designed to boast traditional Irish meals with classic kiwi favourites, it’s a brilliant spot to pull up a stool or cosy into a booth, get yourself a pint of Guinness (or a Marlborough wine or gin) and tuck into some tasty food. Seumus’ has been recognised on the global scene, winning Irish Pub of the year and Best Irish Community Pub in Asia, Africa, Middle East and Pacific, as well as the Best Overall Irish Community pub globally at the Irish Hospitality Global awards in 2019. Take your time, enjoy the live music, admire the décor and challenge each other to a round of darts.

The service here was fantastic. After an unexpectedly late walk, we arrived into Picton to find most places had stopped serving food. With only 15 mins until the kitchen closed Jordana found us a table to share so we could order, then gave us the first available table inside. The food was delicious, but it was the service that really made this a fabulous spot. Highly recommend.

Great atmosphere in this friendly Irish pub just a few minutes walk from the marina. Happy hour is 4-6pm so we got our drinks in and ordered food at the bar. Our dinners promptly arrived and both were hot and amazing. I enjoyed my beef casserole (very succulent) with mashed potatoes/veg plus GF garlic bread and my husband devoured his beef and mushroom pie/veg/fries which was a generous size! They have live music on a Saturday.

Great little Irish pub in Picton. The atmosphere resembles a Irish pub at home ☘️The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. Will definitely come back if I'm ever in Picton again.

Very disappointing. We ordered squid and fresh mussels as a starter and pork ribs main. The mussels arrived and straight away we could smell they were off. Sent them back only to be offered a replacement serving from the same batch, which we declined. The waitress also told us they smelt off to her. The chef came out and explained that they have been having issues with being delivered dead rotten shellfish. He said he will not charge us. Really, first you know these are off then 2 people tell you they off then you send waiter back to tell us they OK, then you come explain to us that you are aware of issues around freshness. Then make up some story about the bags being split open. And then offer not to charge us fir something that we couldn't and didn't accept or eat. The squid was just overcooked oily batter. The ribs were just bone gristle and fat. There are a ton of other better cheaper and cleaner places in Picton which I would suggest you go to. This place and it's quality if food needs a visit from the health department. Would not recommend eating here. Thus chef was more interested in making a few dollars than our health and the consequences of eating off shellfish.

We went here on New Years Eve for dinner and the place was busy as usual. There was a great atmosphere. I had booked and we didn't have to wait long for our food which was outstanding. I am celiac and dairy intolerant and they go out of there way to make something specially for me. Much appreciated. My husband had the hotpot and raved about it for days. The girls at the table next to us were having chocolate brownies, the very generous portions looked and smelt delicious. I would highly recommend eating at this place , but book first. If you don't have time for a meal go for a drink, it's a great pub.

The place has a great atmosphere, and would have been a lot of fun to drink in and listen to the music. But we were hungry, and there were no tables, so we sat outside and missed out on the great atmosphere inside. We encountered two very nice and helpful servers and one very unhappy rude one. The seafood chowder was really good but the salad was a handful of bagged slimey lettuce with no dressing that we sent back. The bangers and mash was not a good choice. The potatoes and gravy were edible, but so hot from the microwave that I burned my mouth. The bangers tasted like a plant based substitute for sausage, very bland with a weird texture. I asked for mustard and got a dirty look, exasperated sigh and “I’ll check”. The mustard was delivered and dropped on the table without a word. The other two wait staff were polite and friendly. I think we just ordered the wrong thing and got the wrong server for part of of our visit.

We were transported in what felt like a 'proper pub' hard to find in the North of the South Island, and the barman found us a table and served us yummy bar snack to go with our drinks. Dinner was spectacular, I had no trouble eating the 1kg of mussels, delicious, and when I asked to be surprised with the type of lager, was served something that tasted like walking through a sunlit meadow, just delicious. I only wish this pub was closer to home, I loved the family friendly vibe, good music, fabulous food, (fish was gurnard that day and fab), and wonderful staff. I will be back only if to try and learn what that larger was, please open a branch in Nelson, I am begging you.

We wanted to have fish n chips in the South Island, and to advisor gave Seumus Irish Bar. Being a Friday night, we booked the last table and had a lovely meal. Fish was very fresh, and the chips chunky. We even ate the salad! Locals were friendly and had chats with other patrons.

Lovely cosy pub. They were great with our 3 and 7 year olds and all meals were lovely. I have food allergies and they were so helpful telling me what meals they could arrange for me to cater for that. Would love to go again.

Service was lacking, food was underwhelming, some was over cooked, some undercooked. Our reserved table got taken before we arrived so we got moved around to a rather noisy part for a private anniversary dinner. As soon as we sat down we were expected to know what we wanted to order. Just a disappointing night for us sadly as it was such a nice place when we were here in the winter.

Had been looking forward to trying this restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. We had the hot pot plus steak & Guinness pie and both were succulent and well cooked. The ambience is as an Irish pub should be along with the music- found myself signing along to songs. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good meal out. Not a lot of gluten free options but there is something there for everyone

This is an authentic pub with great food, lots of drink options (it’s Irish!), and good service for a bar. We both ordered the lamb shank and it was delicious (and available gluten-free). The vegetables that came with it were not over cooked and were great. We had a chocolate brownie for desert (also gluten-free) and their signature Bailey’s slush drink….both were fantastic! Our only complaint is that it is very noisy (it’s a bar!), so not the place for a quiet dinner with your partner.

We had dinner and dessert here while in Picton. Our meals, the Guiness beef pie, pan fried fish (Orange Roughy) and the sticky toffee dessert were outstanding. Truely the best meal we had during our two weeks in New Zealand. The service was also great and everyone in the pub was very friendly and helpful.

It was very near our B&B, so we tried it out. We got a warm welcome and lots of help choosing what to drink, including samples of unfamiliar beers. (I’m not a fan of Guinness!) We returned later to eat. Food was good quality in terms of ingredients and cooking. We were impressed. I particularly enjoyed my fish and chips accompanied by a generous and healthy mixed salad.
