Certainly a pretty spot - outside. Service by the waitress was fine and food was reasonably prompt as was food quality and presentation, although 3 meals should arrive together or very close to it ... not spread over 5 or 6 minutes especially given there...were only 4 other tables of customers. BUT ... wish we'd read TA's reviews before we went inside - scruffy, cluttered, unkempt, ... and what a rude, arrogant, slovenly and inapproriately dressed 'person' in manager/owner Carlos. example: "Do you have a low-carb beer, please?" was responded with "Nah, we don't stock that sh**!" example: "Why is there a 2.5% credit card surcharge when others have 1.5%, maybe 2.0%?" ... grunted and rapt his finger on a tiny notice on the top corner of the till screen. Definitely wouldn't recommend, and it fact embarrassed that this guy and thus his cafe is a representative of our NZ hospitality industryMore

Had a lunch at this awesome place. We had the Angus burger and the chicken burger, very delicious and highly recommended. The atmosphere and service were great, loved it!

Yummy food, a bit more interesting than a pub and with a light French twist in keeping with the area. Interesting and well preserved tat to look at and buy.

Beautiful garden setting, great coffee, amazing black boy peach and choccie muffins (must have)! Super friendly service and we will definitely be returning again.

We googled to find somewhere for breaky and photos looked amazing so we chose here. The setting is so pretty and we sat outside. We felt quite rushed by the server to place our order. I ordered eggs Benedict with bacon and my daughter bacon...and scrambled eggs. The eggs were not free range and so fairly tasteless for both of us. I did not like the Hollandaise at all and didn’t feel like it tasted like hollandaise. The music playing was AWFUL. Rap music using swear words, the N word, talking about sex etc. not exactly suitable for a cafe. So we came away full but disappointed. $57 for two of us for breaky and we felt we’d wasted hard saved money.More

We ordered coffee and cakes, cakes arrived however after 30mins no coffee. Enquired with wait staff who did not get back to us, approached barista who was rude and arrogant. 40 mins later about to ask for refund when coffee arrived. When there is a...wait on food or coffee best practise is to let customers know so that can decide if they want to wait. Meanwhile there was derogatory music being played, owners choice we were told!More

Beautiful breakfast. A unique restaurant location and decor - the breakfasts were really good and only added to an already awesome Akaroa experience. We only wish we had longer in Akaroa to come back here for dinner ! ‘Brasserie Benedict’ was beautiful .

Filthy premises, the table & chairs were sticky & grimy. Wish we had looked around before ordering. As others have said, the chief was inappropriately dressed with an attitude to match. We had toasted sandwich’s, they were soggy on the bottom & hard as a...rock on the top, the filling was none existent, one slice of tomato, a very very thin slice of ham, smothered in a béchamel sauce. Grated cheese melted to a firm plastic like texture on top of the outside top slice of bread. It said on the menu, it came with pickles & chips, the pickles were an old limp coleslaw with “a”slice of gherkin on top of it. The chips were good, hot & fresh.More

Their outdoor tables are in a very lovely garden with blooming roses, which is a fantastic setting to enjoy lunch in the warm sun. Their dishes were equally delicious : we ordered Salmon, lamb and pasta. They open till 3pm so ideal for a late...and relaxing lunch.More

I am not sure where to do start, what a shambles. We came in and ordered drinks and a couple of bowls of chips. After 45 minute wait our drinks had not arrived. During the long wait we observed appalling behavior from the manager, who...I assume is the owner. He was dressed totally inappropriately and was walking around huffing and puffing. He was incredibly rude to his team who were all relatively pleasant. After our wait we went in to cancel our coffee order and then witnessed another customer have a medical event. It was handled poorly again by the manager who was more concerned about this team needing to clean up the drink that was split during the incident. His poor team were left shocked and the manager returned to the kitchen, barking orders, meanwhile while the other customer was lying on the floor. This was a really scary experience for our family and I dread to think how the staff were left to feel today. I am surprised this man stays in business with such a poor attitude towards his teamMore

The food was French inspired and standard price. Nice food. Extremely slow table service. Unable to order a coffee initially as barista was too swamped. Paid the bill and ordered a coffee. Noticed barista was also bar person. A mean spirited man came on from...the kitchen and took over coffee machine. I was told to move away from the till as I was putting pressure on the barista. Wow, barrister, who works in food service industry does not like to be pressured! Overall not worth the trip, plenty of other nice places who are prepared to work for your hard earned money.More
