Came here for lunch on a day trip to Akaroa. We ordered a hot ele combo to share between two people, which for $15 included a battered fish, a hotdog, chips, and a drink. The battered fish and hotdog were both really good, no complaints...there. The portion size of the chips however was extremely small (couldn't have been more than a handful) and they tasted pretty average. A bit disappointing given the price, we expected to get a much bigger portion.More

Brought the hot elle fish meal for $15 Fish was soggy and tasteless, measly portion of chips which tasted like they had been in freezer for a week and hot dog was soft and undercooked. All this served by a grumpy guy who clearly wanted...to be somewhere else. Waste of money and time, won't be back!More

I have Coeliac disease and have to be gluten free. It is hard to find fish and chip shops that have separate fryers for chips but this place does. We were visiting a couple of days ago and I had grilled cod and GF chips...- both just yummy. Beautiful fish and crisp fluffy chips. Salad as well. My husband had the battered cod and he thought it was very good. We would recommend this place especially to those needing to be GF.More

The standard piece of fish was worse that any piece of fish I have bought from any fish shop in Wellington in the last 10 years. Also bought the cod fillet which was good fresh fish but the batter was soggy and the chips were...average at best.More

World-famous in Akaroa, good, well cooked fish and chips which we took home and ate on the deck overlooking Akaroa and the harbour. Marvellous.

Its was a nice trip from Christchurch. The road trip was great enjoyed the natural beauty. When reached there al of us was very hungry. We had burgers which was very tasty and fresh but the salmon was great nice presentation. Two decent pieces of...salmon. Great taste and value for money. Will come back againMore

We’ve eaten here twice in two years and both times we left wondering why. The fish is nothing to write home about and the chips lacked flavour. There are better fush and chups places in the outlying towns and villages around Christchurch and they cost...a fraction of the price of eating here.More

Wanting to support a local business didn’t even mind that Akaroa Fish and Chips have a reputation as being expensive. However when you are paying $35 for fish and chips for two you have high expectations. Although the blue cod was nice the batter was...greasy and the pale colour not that appealing. The chip also colourless and quite floppy. I notices a couple of local lads come with their fish and chips from around the corner May be locals know best.More
