Authentic ramen shop & bar. Handmade noodles, traditional recipes, Japanese ingredients & special cocktails.
MICHELIN Bib Gourmand: Good quality, good value cooking
The name Shōyu – a type of Japanese soy sauce – is a clue as to what they serve at this tiny little shop, which specialises in classic ramen dishes. The rich, full-flavoured broth complements their homemade noodles perfectly, and there’s a great range of different ingredients to explore. There are also various rice bowls available – and be sure to start by sharing some of the tasty starters like yakitori or tataki. Service is sweet and there’s an appealing buzz to the modern room.

Wonderful place! We were alone with a young man, booked a table in advance (I strongly recommend you to do the same, because during your stay in the restaurant, if a table was available, it was immediately occupied by the next guests), we were met by a pleasant Anastasia, orientated by menu and waiting time, then brought within 8 minutes a general reservation and throughout the evening gently asked if we liked everything. Maintenance: 10 out of 10!On food: 100 out of 100! I'd love to be back!

Shout was a wonderful restaurant. We went without a reservation and we waited a few minutes and a table outside opened up. The food was delicious. Everything we had from the edamame and spicy cucumbers to duck ramen and a salmon bowl was fresh and made with care. We also had saki both hot and cold and both were so good. The wait people were attentive and caring and answered all our questions. They both spoke English. I would put this restaurant on your list of great restaurants in Riga.

Small and cozy, but very clean and nice. We ordered Premium Ramen and Ebi Wasabi and they tasted great with good deep flavours. You only get 1 hour to eat if you order before 8:30, but they are very quick to serve the food. Remember to reserve in good time!

Shoyu Restaurant and the ramen it serves are so popular that you have to reserve both your seat and the dish in advance. It takes several days to prepare, and therefore THIS ramen is not always available. I booked everything in advance. Not the very center of Riga, but the restaurant has about fifteen seats. Open kitchen. You can, like me, chat with the chefs and see with your own eyes how and in what pots ramen is prepared. Shoyu does not serve the “fattest” version, but its “light” version. Pork and chicken broth. Unlike the original Japanese recipe, there is no dry fish in it... Excellent service in all languages. Follow the link to the menu to see the range of dishes and prices. I liked everything about Shoyu! And especially the pleasant international and youthful atmosphere, the smiles and good energy of both the boys of the cooks and the girls of the waiter. Ramen is all about umami! That same fifth taste, the existence of which has been scientifically proven by the Japanese and the creation of which every self-respecting chef strives to create. Shoyu's ramen has an umami flavor. This is its value, this is its significance. Therefore, traveling 300 km one way to eat it is worth it. As does the cost of the dish itself at 15.50 euros. Now I know exactly where I will go when I visit Riga. P.S. Green tea with sakura flowers is very good for spring...

Me and My girlfriend walked 2km to try this resturant and we were not disapointed! We didn’t understand the menu so we asked the waiter what he thought was the best and we ordered that. The food was really filling in a good way. We ordered extra eggs (I’m a weightlifter) and it was cheape for the service and quality we got. Would recommend 10/10 and see why this is rated #1 in Riga

I had tried ramen in Riga once before and it was my biggest disappointment (I don't remember the name of this place), but I decided to give a second chance and so I decided to come to Shoyu with my friends and I was extremely surprised because I had never tasted such delicious ramen before. I will definitely come back here again. It's hard to get here without a reservation and the prices for ramen are pretty high, but you should try it at least once. The wait to order was not long and the waiter was very kind and friendly. Thank you!

I had an excellent dinner, the ramen was indeed delicious and the ice creams very original and very surprising (miso and soy flavors). Additionally, the waitress is extremely professional and recommended the good ramen as well as the good wine. The atmosphere in this small room is very warm; I can only recommend :-)

Shoyu is a very authentic Japanese restaurant. From the old town it takes only a few minutes by public transport to reach the restaurant. The owner learned Japanese cooking directly in Japan. The ambience, service and food are excellent. A culinary getaway not to be missed! The restaurant only holds about 20 people inside, so I would strongly recommend a reservation.

Definetely will come again. A very strong recommendation for all ramen lovers. Book a table in advance - the place is small and cozy.

We visited this little cosy restaurant that serves delicious dishes. Large foretter that can be divided into two people. The main dishes were ramen which was very tasty, at an affordable price. The staff was very friendly and provided excellent service. A genuine taste of Japan and good atmosphere. Will come again!

The service was very forthcoming to accommodate us at the last moment, as the restaurant turns away customers constantly due to high demand and limited seating. Both ramen dishes we ordered were excellent - better than we expected given the good price for such meals - and were brought to us very quickly. We ended with an excellently delicate Japanese cheesecake. Truly, a great venue by all accounts - well done!

Were at Shoyu restaurant 13.08.2024. I've been to many ramen shops, but I'll remember this one for a long time, from service to food quality. First of all, you want to highlight the perfect preparation of shrimp in tempura, the shrimp is soft, not overaged in oil, yet, perfectly crisp. The second took their most popular ramen with Premium Shoyu duck, which perfectly combines everything, the broth is not too heavy, not oversaturated with the truffle flavor, but rather there it is more as a complement, the duck is cooked in suvida perfectly, you can immediately see what the billet is made in the morning or during the day, as the duck retains its pinkish shade. I also want to highlight the remarkable service of waiter Pavel, who helped in the selection of positions, this level of professionalism is rare in modern times. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience!

Don't take the shrimp ramen dish. There is absolutely no flavour. Plates and glasses have a very fishy smell to them, and sparkling water was very warm. One portion from our group was ok (soupless ramen), it had a little flavor. Drinks were nice and sake also. Otherwise do not recommend, don't know where the Michelin recommendation came from.

We had a late lunch here while returning to Tallinn from Jürmala. I've been to Japan many times, and it is hard to get really good ramen in Europe. T This place got it! The Ramen is pretty much authentic, and very much a carefully crafted for nice serving. Really loved how it was put up! And, at least for a Nordic person, the price was a pleasant surprise! A wholeheartedly recommend stopping by this relaxed but great Japanese place! Also LOVED the dessert! (We had ZEN CHĪZUKĒKI - not that's way better than Japan where they don't really get the whole dessert thing)

Shoyu in Riga is a fantastic ramen restaurant that truly impresses with its authentic taste and cosy atmosphere. The nuts are perfectly cooked, the soup is rich and tasty, and the ingredients are fresh and well balanced. The service is friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. The restaurant has a stylish and welcoming interior that creates the perfect setting for a delicious meal. If you love ramen, Shoyu is a must visit in Riga. Five stars without a doubt – I will definitely come back!
