Was in the area and had heard from a friend that they had the best Burek. I have not had a lot of Burek, but now I plan to have more! My only problem is I will expect other places to be as good as this one and that will probably not be the case. This was an outdoor fast food serving style establishment, service was quick, they had several different kinds of Burek to choose from, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. It is probably good that I do not live near this place or I would spend all my money on their Burek!

The Olimpija Burek, exisiting since 1979, seems to be quite a well known place in Ljubljana. Coming from the not far away railway and bus station I decided to give it a try for a snack. The location in a nondescript side street is rather unattractive, so is the fast food place itself, with not much of seating available. The man in charge was not overly friendly and told me that the Pizza Burek had run out (according to the guidebooks the one most in demand). Instead I went for a Potato Burek, which also had spring onions in it. It was tasty, but too oily for my taste.
Thinking about it I was surprised how popular in Slovenia the 'Burek' is, which I know mainly from Turkey and other countries, that once had been part of the Ottoman Empire. And to which Slovenia never belonged. Also 'Bureks' are not be found - except in Turkish restaurants - in all the neighboring Alpine countries.

Have you ever eaten Burek?
It is a peeled pasta cake, well filled, served in large pieces, very hot.
But is burek good? I like it. There's a lot of fat. A "piece" comes the equivalent of two slices of a pie, feeding 2 people for EUR 3.50.
The service is quick, the burek hot... has no indoor room to eat, just a counter on the street.
Would you eat again? I don't think so, except at the end of the trip, in cost confinement and no worry about cholesterol.

This is no doubt the Best burek here around! It is tasty, chewy, perfectly greasy and a great size for an afternoon meal.
I ordered the original meat burek but they have a variety of choices (meat spinach, pizza, cottage cheese burek, pizza and spaghetti also).
Not forget to mention that the staff has great energy and you get your orders fast.

My daughter celebrated her 18th birthday and Burek Olimpja provided an unforgettable feast. 70 young people were delighted with the meat and cheese bureks. We picked up the bureks in the center of Ljubljana, for such a large quantity (60 pieces) the service was extremely fast, and the staff were friendly and helpful despite the late hour. A truly excellent experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend.
Burek Olimpiija is the best burek in Ljubljana!

I visited the restaurant twice. First for the cheese burek then for the meat burek. Both were delicious and satisfying. The serving portion is sufficient for a hefty snack. On my first visit the service was ok, but not memorable. On the second visit the young man working on this day was much more welcoming. In comparison to the place around the corner, where I also tried cheese and meat bureks, the cheese burek at Olimpija was just slightly tastier in my humble opinion. There is no indoor dining but there is a shaded counter to stand and enjoy your food.

This was the first burek we had on our trip and it turned out to be one of the absolute best.
I had never tried pizza burek before but I don't think I am likely to ever find one to top (no pun intended) this one.
Really tastes like they use quality ingredients but they still manage to keep the prices down.

The burek here is absolutely incredible! The pastry is perfectly flaky, and the fillings are rich and flavorful. The balance between the crispy layers and the hearty filling is perfection. It’s clear this place knows how to make authentic burek. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Curiosity dragged us to the Olimpija on a walk through Ljubljana. We ate an enormous potato burek which was a seriously solid chunk of tasty pastry. If you're hungry, don't hesitate, just go and guzzle, anytime of the day or night, it's open 24/7.

The best burek in town! Hands down the only burek place I like going to. The meat burek here is the best, because it's full of stuffing and not half empty like some others. Not too greasy, not to dry. Just perfect. Other types of burek are also nice.

We were there in July. We tasted the burek with different fillings (meat, pizza, cheese).
The food is good, obviously not a chic or stylish place, but perfect for a quick and cheap meal. Really low prices. We spent 5€ each.

This burek is incredible! It's like a flaky croissant stuffed with deliciousness. I got the cheese one, and it's got that perfect gooey pull. Plus, the pastry is buttery and crispy - seriously addictive. Perfect grab-and-go for any meal, and way better than a boring sandwich.

Burek is a Turkish specialty, a kind of rolled savory pie that is very popular in Ljubljana. We decided to try it in its traditional cheese version (sirov) at Burek Olimpija and I must say that it was an excellent choice. Don't be put off by the strangeness of it, but try it like the locals do with low-fat yogurt! Degrease! The service is fast and courteous. Not to be missed!
