If you’re a local regular then I’m sure you’ll get amazing service, if not then you get sullen looks, unfriendly bar staff and told to leave when others are still sitting there having drinks. Would definitely not recommend to anyone, the outside’ Prosecco bar area’...is just a leaky plastic roof with tables bolted to the ground. I’m sure the owners won’t care about this review as they didn’t care about our custom. I have never been somewhere and felt less welcome.More

Well James aren’t you the keyboard warrior! Don’t agree with your review at all . We here at the compasses treat new and returning customers exactly the same . I’ve just had a read through your other reviews and 75% are one star reviews ....More

Moved to abbots Langley 2 weeks ago and found this amazing pub the day after . This is our 4th visit and tonight we had a fantastic meal . My partner had the fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection , I had the...flaked salmon salad and again excellent. We were told by another couple that the current owner has had the pub since 1983 and the high standards have never been dropped in all that time . The outside areas and interior are of a very high standard . A very relaxed atmosphere and vibe . We will return very soon .More

Visited today for our anniversary, our first trip out since before the first lockdown, so very excited. Service good and staff friendly. Sadly my main meal, burger, was not edible. The texture was unpleasant, it was tough and hard to cut, and tasteless. Maybe reheated,...but not nice at all. Staff helpful and refunded my meal and offered an alternative (which I declined). Chocolate brownie was nice though! Been quite a few times, so a little disappointing as it was a special occasion.More

Sorry to hear that your burger wasn’t to your liking . We have just found a new butcher and the burgers are much nicer than before . Please give us another visit so we can redeem your custom.

The lady who worked last Friday refused service too my two friends who had genuine medical exemptions. When they told her they were both exempt she said it doesn’t matter, I reached out to tony on behalf of them because they are distraught and he...was just as rude, and thought the licensing act 2003 means he can treat people anyway he likes and discriminate against them. I tried to reach out to him to get it sorted and he simply didn’t care. A legal team is now Involved to make sure they get justice for there treatment and more importantly this does not happen to a poor soul ever again. The lady and tony let there views on covid get in the way of there business that day. Tony will do what he has done with all his other negative reviews and try and get the last word in but this is factual and accurate to events. They both thought one of the gentlemen was rude upon exit, but who wouldn’t be who was just discrimated against after doing no wrong. The pub was also empty. Under equalities act 2008, no business can refuse you service.More

A perfect, first experience, back to inside dining. My family of 6 enjoyed exceptional service with a warm welcome and delicious food. Our dishes ranged from Caesar salad, sausage & mash, steak & ale pie, scampi & chips and burger & chips. Everyone was very...happy and considering our groups' ages range from 12 to 65 that's a varied audience of eclectic taste. Will definitely be returning and supporting our local pub.More

I rang to make a booking for lunch at this family friendly pub as described on its website and was told that I could not book a table outside due to us having children as part of the booking. When I asked why the manager...rudely told me that it was his pub and that he has made this decisions because of the pandemic. With restrictions easing and now being able to eat outside I feel penalised that I am unable to come to this pub because I have a child. I will never be making a booking at this pub in the future.More
