Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for lunch. Nice ambience, excellent pasta meal. Meal costs were on the medium to high side, but wine was very very expensive, cheapest bottle was $65 with most well over $70. Beer was also on the high side. Decided to have beer with the...meal as we couldn't justify the price of the wine. Which is a shame as it's nice to share a bottle of wine with a good meal.More

This is for the deli, the prices are quite possibly the most I’ve struck anywhere in Australia and outrageous. Go to Choux in Bangalow for the same if not better product at 35% less than Harvest. The business needs to seriously check themselves and ask...how they can justify this kind of HWY robberyMore

We lunched at the restaurant for our anniversary and we were fowarned that the prices were expensive but we wanted the experience. We arrived at 12:30 and were greeted with very friendly staff who were extremely attentive throughout our 2 hour meal. We also appreciated...that there was no rush between courses. The restaurant was almost fully booked but the layout was generous so we didn’t feel crammed in or overwhelmed with other diners conversations. Now to the food and pricing. When we first saw the menu we were told that it was designed for sharing which we have no issues with. $42 for 3 large Ballina prawns is not a share in my opinion but they asked if we would like to make it 4. $12 for 1 prawn. Wow The bread was 2 small pieces for $6 with butter. The mains were good. One glass of Pinot gris was enough. One thing that really gets under my skin is getting charged for sparkling water when I don’t order it then finding a charge on the bill. I did decline the second bottle but another waiter brought it to table. Again I declined this. This trend of doing this is really bad as it’s happened to us before. Desert was good and the liqueur was great. All in all a good experience but bring your cheque book with you. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be back as there are better value and quality restaurants near by. I wish the restaurant well and I hope this review will help anyone wishing to visit.More

The setting was a great but don’t forget your mozzie spray if you sit on the verandah The food was average. Some of us are vegan and ordered the $38 cabbage dish which claimed to have grains etc. it was literally a slab of charred...cabbage with a few pieces of pineapple. We were sadly disappointed as we were very much looking forward to it.More

I was so excited to try this restaurant and the menu was so uninspiring. Just ok in a generic kind of way as though they are trying to please most people without trying anything innovative. Nice atmosphere and staff - but expensive and nothing exceptional...and wouldn’t bother going back.More

Harvest has delightful ambiance and great service but not my taste for heathy dining. I ordered New Zealand trout and asked for it without burned butter but it came dripping with butter anyway which made a healthy choice into an unhealthy fattening one. I should...have sent it back to the kitchen because they were not busy so I don’t understand why the chef couldn’t be bothered with a simple request or maybe it was not communicated to the him. I felt poorly for several hours after eating it. The grilled zucchini was a cold dish and actually marinated in oil and the cauliflower was surrounded by cream sauce. We didn’t finish the veggies. If you’re looking to fatten up then this place is for you, but if you’re looking for healthy fish and vegetables I suggest you try the somewhere else. Since I’m a foodie, I’d rather have healthy food and sacrifice ambiance.More

WAY OVER PRICED FOR WHAT YOU GET. I HAD BALLINA PRAWNS. 2 ON THE PLATE $42.00 WTF. HUBBY HAD SMALL PEICE OF FISH AND I MEAN SMALL $45.00. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE MONEY. THE FOOD WAS JUST SO. ONLY PAYING FOR THE NAME. WOULDN'T RECOMMEND...DINING THERE AT ALL. MUCH BETTER PLACES TO EAT.More

I appreciate Harvest for their claimed use of local and organic and will continue to visit because of this ...i enjoy the ambience ...but their use of blended vegetable oils for deep frying is not acceptable and tantamount to being toxic in my opinion and...totally against any healthy ethical claim they may have . I believe customers should wake up to this use in most restaurants and demand better ...the extra cost per person for healthier oils is negligible . Harvest chef should know this and upgrade ....more customers would eat there !!!More

Today, a customer/mother was treated appallingly by a staff member. I was glad she spoke up and called the staff member out. I have been here 3 times this year and seen this attitude and behaviour from (some) staff on each occasion. ( I think...it's ok if you are a local or friend, I think that the genuine disdain is reserved for pesky visitors.) What have I seen: eye rolling, no return of warm greetings from customers, annoyance at simple questions, short abrupt explanations. Naturally, along with the attitude is that they can't be bothered by providing basic service ..." No, we sold out of that sandwich 2 hrs ago" (but the sign is still there) and taking more than 30 minutes to get around to toast a premade sandwich. The experience is not worth the food. The arrogance is unpleasant.More

My wife and I had the best night at Harvest this Friday. We have been coming to Harvest over the last 8 years and this was the best meal we have ever had there. Chef Marcello Polifrone produced course after course of food that showcased...local produce, with a real generosity of spirit. The flavour combinations were creative and really satisfying - best house made pasta I have ever eaten, exquisite. Alongside this were equally creative and imaginative cocktails, magnificent! The service was seamless and the tempo perfect, with subtle pauses when needed and wine arriving exactly when it should, without ever having to say a word. Chef Marcello and his team have put Harvest right back at the top of North Coast venues.More

I was disappointed, the staff didn't want to take cash and complained, though there was cash in the till and I had the exact amount in cash, never smiled or were friendly towards any customer that came in, they seemed absolutely miserable. We were sitting...at a table for a meal, they didn't want to bring it over, had to get up and go and get serviettes and cutlery. Very disappointed, will not go back there again.More

The atmosphere is lovely and the venue is surrounded with plants. The food is poor and the crab pasta had a tiny slither of crab but you could not taste it. The service was ok.

We have visited this restaurant several times over the years, and looked forward to a special lunch there yesterday. We left vowing not to return. Service was good, friendly staff & lovely setting - however the food & wine was very overpriced for what was...served. At fine dining restaurants the small serves need to really hit the mark, however yesterday the dishes served were dry, looked & tasted uninteresting. I ordered the chocolate cake hoping it would let us leave with a sweet feeling- it was served crumbled (yes crumbled) with what they called leathered banana, it was dry and tasteless. I’ve never had to force myself to eat desert before. No more Harvest for us :(More

Our group ate at a number of places in the area and were expecting much at Harvest. The meals were average particularlythe spanner crab dish which consisted of rogatoni mostly and no visible signs of any spanner crab.At $49.00 it must be very profitable for...the restaurant but not for the customer. We are not the only reviewers to notice this and the wines are overpriced. Overall it is an overpriced and not exciting food venue. Look elsewhere.More
