Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Loved everything about this place. Lunch on a beautiful day, with lovely views over the bay. We ate outside & it was really nice. I'm somewhat of a pancake devotee - and these ones were outstanding. Lovely light pancakes, with fresh fruit, cream & a lemon flavoured sorbet. Definitely worth the trip over just for that. Service & price were fine.

After walking to Oneroa after we arrived with the ferry, we saw SOL bar and cafe and went in. Excellent decision!! The view is stunning and the meal we had, panini's, was very nice too. Very friendly staff!

5 stars for location as has commanding views above Oneroa on the hill. Stopped here soon after arriving on Waiheke for a quick bite. The cabinet food didnt tempt me but the Pumpkin soup was lovely. Need to order at the counter but then food is brought to you. Nice, relaxed vibe with a magical view.

Very disappointing service. Food was very average for the price and watched seagulls eat chips off my plate as they put it down at another table before bringing it over. They then argued with our table and the table next to us over serving us Monteiths Original which was off. We told them the taste was off and there was something wrong with it to which they argued that is how it is supposed to taste. No apology or offer to give our money back or give a new beverage. Terrible service. Your beer was off. Nothing to do with how it is made, it was how you stored it. They refused to even check the beer themselves and kept serving it. Avoid. There are so many great eateries on Waiheke - this is not one of them.

Cool little place unfortunately the food was very average.. my daughter ordered the vegan bagel which came with raw tofu to which we asked ro have it pan fried and it came back barely heated.. and luckily before she ate it, she realised it had cream cheese on it after specifically asking for the vegan option, and this meal being suggested.. also $25 for a half a bagel and that was before we opted for the vegan option, very over priced for what came out... I ordered the pan fried fish which came out quite undercooked.. the pasta was tasteless and although the staff were friendly we were very disappointed in the overpriced average food.

We went as a party of 4, everyone was pleased with their choice of meal (lunch). The food was lovely and fresh, as well as tasty. The coffee was truly great as was the yummy carrot cake. It was a pleasure to find this cafe, after coming in from our boat at Oneroa- just a short walk. The owners were there and excited to tell us about the plans they have for the place, and the innovations they have just started- an app which you to order food straight to the kitchen, this they explained will be very good for boaties, so the food can be ready when they arrive.

This popular cafe bar has plenty of space with inside and outside options available. Offering breakfast, lunch or dinner the menu is a selection of cafe styled food. The venue is fully licensed and a great space to spend some time on a sunny afternoon or evening.

Had a spare day in New Zealand, and was recommended to take the ferry from Auckland to Waiheke Island. Once there, decided to grab a late lunch, and stumbled across Cafe Sol. Perched up the hill, Cafe Sol offers beautiful views of the water, while offering a wonderful dining experience in their garden. As it was later in the day, wasn't expecting to be able to get a bite to eat, however luck was on my side, and I chose the Cafe Sol salad with falafel along with a local glass of wine. The salad and wine came out quickly. The salad was light and fresh without being too heavy, and along with the crisp white wine, made for an excellent light lunch. Not too expensive, and would recommend.

Despite many visits to Oneroa we had never been to this Cafe. It’s location on a little hill rise overlooking the calm seas and outdoor courtyard area were excellent. Service and food very good. Could not fault it. We will return on our next visit to the Island.

My husband and I visited with friends on a beautiful late February Saturday. We all enjoyed the special of hamburger with a beer. Hamburger absolutely delicious and beer cold. Staff friendly and we sat outdoors overlooking the water.

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at SOL Cafe this morning! Amazing food, wonderful attention and hospitality from the staff and the ocean views and setting were breathtaking! They say that Eggs Bene with Salmon is the bench mark dish of a great brunch cafe. I ordered this dish and I have no hesitation in rating my meal 10/10!! This is a 'MUST VISIT' eatery when visiting Oneroa.

Amazing views and the sol burger is lovely, however, it took an hour for said burger even after chasing it up the order... my wife's panini docket was lost so after 2 different people came out to to confirm our order it finally came out as the wrong panini so another wait for the right one to be cooked... staff running flat out but overall terrible service.

Location - 4 out of 5 Food - 4 out of 5 Coffee - 4 and of 5 Waiting time for meals - 1 out of 5 Value for money - 3 out of 5 Fair enough to pay a little more than you would on the mainland, but to wait 70 minutes mid-morning for some poached eggs and a plate of deep fried fish and chips is unacceptable. The manager said today was less busy than the preceding days, so hate to think how long customers had to wait yesterday! There other restaurant options in Oneroa. If you’re in a hurry suggest you go somewhere else.
