Our dining experience was simply superb. We were warmly welcomed by Lula who gave us 200% attention. She was very well informed about the menu and handled the table with warm professionalism. The dishes were cooked to perfection, the servings were large and good value for money. We were seating outside so we enjoyed the magnificent view. One tiny criticism, their Spritz needs a bit of work on, too much soda! Thanks, Lula, you were delightful and made our night very special

Absolutely recommended for special occasion. The best location on the Gold Coast for surf side views ambience food quality and service. Our wonderful waitress Sophie gave us great advice on our food and wine choices and just the right level of attention to let us enjoy each other’s company on our wedding anniversary but making sure we always had everything we needed to make the night special. Thank you so much Tropic!

Menu was a little limited for the location Shared entrees- that was ok I had the cold seafood platter was a little underwhelming for the price. Only our waiter seemed to be working and the others seemed to be socialising with other staff . Table next to us stacked up their plates and waited 20 minutes to have table cleared Once our waiter left it took a long time to get another drink Disappointing!

We were a group of 8 ladies some visiting from Sydney and the rest from Brisbane and the GC. When I made our booking, I was told that we would have to have set menu as 8 was too many to serve separately which didn't sit well with me but nevertheless went ahead with the booking. The food we received was very ordinary to say the least. Some of the bread was burnt and inedible and the variety and quality of the other dishes very disappointing. Not one person at the table liked the food and of course, it was moderately expensive. I did have a conversation with the GM of the restaurant the following week to give him our feedback and told him that we are used to eating at expensive restaurants both in Sydney and on the GC and that if they were going to compete with venues like The Fish House, Edgewater Dining & Little Truffle they would have to lift their performance. It was so disappointing to take my friends to such a beautiful iconic Queensland venue and have that experience. I would never eat there again.

We attended The Tropic as a family as we though that this would be a lovely place to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. When we made the booking for 5.30 I was told that the seating could only be for 2 hours due to Covid (which we understood and where happy with). We arrive just before 5.30 and where sitted, the view is amazing but that is where the experience ended. It took the waiter over 10 mins to take our drink order and then our meal order was sent to the kitchen around 6.00. Bearing in mine we had 2 young children with us and in the back of our mind we had to be out by 7.30 because of the 2 hours. The waiter returned once more for further drink orders but did not give us an update on when the meal would be arriving. We where getting concerned when at 7.00 meals still had not arrived and the the 2 children where now quite hungry. Finally the meals arrived at 7.10 but this left us 20 minutes before our sitting was over. You could not enjoy your meal because of the time. As it was I would say the meal was average for the price, we ordered side but laughted at the $10 price tab for 5 pieces of asparagus. The evening end very quickly after our meal as we did wish to cut a birthday cake there but because of the late arrival of the meal where unable. All in all the experience was the best and I could not recommend for dinner.

This was my go to restaurant @ Burleigh but 2 visits now & not great. Waited over an hour for a whole fish that according to the waiter was so big (600gm) that was what took the time, & then it was dry & overcooked. The confit potatoes were inedible. What was great was the jamon & puffed bread & tomato salad. That tells me mains are not the high point. Something told us they knew it wasnt good when we weren't charged for sides, which were not the problem. Service was very poor. It would not survive in Sydney at all & if not for the location here it would be the same. Sad as it could be amazing!!

Firstly when trying to book the email response time was very slow. Then the brunch which is advertised as $55 per person is not actually available the package actually starts at over $100pp. Then when trying to book lunch the communication was poor. Then at the lunch what a shambles, no split bill, very limited menu and staff where just rude. 👎👎👎👎

We waited over 40 minutes for a selection of dips & bread. Our waitress forgot she’d taken the order. By 7pm the restaurant has run out of Duck; it was a very small menu, the restaurant was fully booked and had required a $200 deposit at the time of booking, so one would presume Chefs could anticipate many orders of their specialty of the Duck. Our waitress could not explain the ‘Prawns Malfada’ which was a shame because it was basically inedible - a congealed mess of thick pasta & 3 prawns with shells on and a gluggy, sauce - a hotchpotch of ingredients without flavour. Do not take guests there, phone ahead to check you secure competent staff and ask that all items are on their menu. Not a patch on the previous Oscars restaurant- where the chefs knew how to cook prawns (famous coconut prawns with mango sauce!!) beyond disappointed in this abysmal ‘service’

We found this place very average apart from the fabulous location on the Ocean/Beach offering sensational outlooks back to Surfers Paradise and beyond Firstly the staff are not trained. Offering servings and drinks unprofessionally even serving the Male first in lie of the Ladies to us and surrounding tables. They were very pleasant, but training obviously lacking! Embarrassing for the Blokes!! The food is very average. eg $35 for a small serving of what they called 'Mooloolaba Prawns', which looked more like 'FW Red Claw Shrimp', with so little flesh contained therein. We overheard other similar complaints by close-by patrons. We wouldn't hurry back!!

Honestly the worst service I’ve received even before entering the restaurant. I initially had booked in 2 weeks before valentines day for a nice dinner with my girlfriend. I spoke to Ash who was lovely on the phone, very cooperative, very prompt and helpful. She organized the vegan menu to be emailed to me and helped get me sorted for my valentines day dinner. My girlfriend and I showed up to the restaurant and were denied entry simply because I did not carry ID with me, regardless of the fact that we were not drinking or entering the bar area. I did not carry my wallet with me and didn't think much of it as I would use my Apple Pay to sort out the bill. I told this to the Security guard (big, bald, russian accent) and a worker there by the name of Joey. Their words to me were “how are you going to come to a restaurant, eat food and not pay if you don’t have your wallet?”. They were very rude to my girlfriend and I, belittling us in front of other people who were waiting in line. They mocked us and were VERY arrogant with us. They continued to tell us that we won’t get into any restaurant just because I didn't carry my ID with me. They proceeded to say “what kind of person walks around with no ID on them, you can’t be doing this sort of stuff”. They continued to be rude and arrogant with us and treated us like we were children. No where on the restaurant website, terms and conditions or booking confirmation does it say that you require ID to enter the restaurant. After speaking to the manager the next day he said that we should not have been refused entry into the restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone, they don’t deserve peoples business for the way they treat their customers. No where have I ever been refused entry into a restaurant simply for not carrying ID. I never have I been treated or talked down to the way I was by the workers. Never again will I be going to this place.

A terrible experience. The restaurant presents it's self as high end but is more like a TGF restaurant with limited menu and expensive meals. On booking we advised that it was our anniversary requested a table on the balcony. We ended up having a table right in the main thoroughfare between the kitchen and the reminder of the restaurant. In addition the music was more suited to a nightclub and was so loud that my partner and I could hardly hear each other even though we were sitting side by side. In regards to the menu, My partner is a vegetarian and can occasionally eat fish but the only fish on the menu came with meat sauce. No other option was available on the main menu. She then picked a pasta from the vegan menu but was told 20 minutes later that that menu was no longer available. Her options were now limited so she picked a stuffed capsicum but when it was served it was only one medium sized capsicum, more suited as a entre than the main it was ordered as. for $32. All in all our meal came after one hour and by then we were over the music so could not enjoy the meal as we just wanted to get out of there.

The Tropic is pretentious, over priced and staff were appalling. The food was average, it took so long to get drinks and have them refilled especially when you have a 2hr sitting. After not giving the 9 of us, (2 drink menus) time to look a the drink menu properly we requested 5mins. However, 1 of our party wanted a beer straight up. He said he’d get it when he came back but my friend stated he like it now. They had a back and forth until the waiter finally relented. We then had to approach the waiter who was chatting at the bar after 15mins for our drink order. The waiter poured some white wine into my friend’s Rose and said “it was only a little bit.” He wasn’t going to get her a fresh drink so the manager was called over and he was as unaccomodating, saying “do you expect us to give a drink to every customer when we make a mistake.” They were extremely rude to the point that my friend was teary after leaving, she was so shaken! After spending about $1100 (no desserts) we will never return.

Greeter or is it security guard outside literally did not smile or have any pleasantries except to say vaccination status? Well aware of policies we showed our certificates, still not a single pleasant look word or gesture. Up the stairs waiting to be seated made a small joke about how we were dressed smart, fully vaccinated and had no visible tattoos, lady serving snidely said 'so funny'. Nice greeting not. Seated not on the terrace because you have to prebook it, eyeroll. Waitress was lovely she did a great job all night can't fault her. Entrees were pretty average at best I had octopus which was over sauced, overspiced and gave me reflux. My partner had pork which he said was OK and some nice woodfired puffy bread. The menu is quite limited and not adequately descriptive. Then mains, we did not drink much because we don't drink alcohol and the mocktails were ridiculously overpriced and pretty much left us with water and ginger beer. I had snapper he had sirloin. My snapper piece was way too thin and quite small considering. The butter sauce was loaded with herbs, too loaded. I had no idea it would have fennel in it and it was so over fennelled. Would not have ordered it if I could have predicted it would be. Sirloin was really underwhelming and the sauce on it lacking flavour. We ordered chips which were thin and over cooked although quite a generous serve. Read dessert menu and decided best not be disappointed and head out for ice cream instead. Also bathrooms are over crowded a group of children blocking the stairs and another group overtaking the sinks. Unisex too which doesn't really thrill me on a date night. There where also just way too many kids for it to be really a nice atmosphere as a couple. The view is spectacular, the food really not great, greeters weirdly snobby. We paid our massive bill and left. We won't return and will not recommend, unless you dont like yr rellies and want them to pay for a big meal of disappointment.

Not sure why the so-called mediocre reviews here on The Tropic but on my visit (and I am a little picky), this place rocked. The staff on arrival, the vibe, the ambience, everything. Yes, the staff let you settle in for while (about 5 mins) before offering you some water, then another 5mins before asking you for any alcoholic drinks. I was happy with that because I was taking in the view which is FIRST CLASS by the way. We ordered our drinks and only waited another 5mins for us to be into our Veuve and toasting in the view and the place. We then ordered our food consisting of oysters (from 3 regions) and some white anchovies - both of which superb. We both had fish for mains (snapper and mahi mahi) and they were out of this world. We had a few side bits and all up, I couldn't fault it. If there was a gripe, we were not told the size of the market fish (and market price) and it was close to a half kg with an appropriate price but hey, I got extra lol. No dessert as the champagne was flowing and we got there at 11.45am and walked out at 5pm and had a wow of a time. I will be back to try the 800gm rib eye plus a lobster (both of which looked amazing). New favourite place on the GC.

We booked The Tropic at the Burleigh Pavilion as we thought it would appeal to our 22 year old son. Needless to say, we loved it! Dining on the terrace as the sun set was divine. The amazing location right on the beach with views to Surfers make it a great dining experience. What surprised us was the quality of the food. The service was also excellent. What looks/feels like casual dining was actually a suburb experience.
