We had an excellent meal here with friends. We enjoyed an extremely fresh fish carpaccio appetizer, grilled mahi-mahi and pork milanesa style, great bottle of red wine and finished with homemade banana ice cream and grappa for table to share. The service and food were excellent throughout our meal and the staff and owner were attentive to every detail resulting in an amazing dining experience. The total cost also seemed quite reasonable for the quality. I would highly recommend El Dieciocho!

My husband and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and wanted a special experience for our dinner. It seemed that everyone we asked had El Dieciocho on the top of their list of recommendations. Our expectations were high, and we were not disappointed!
One of the first positives was that the Côtes du Rhône was served at the perfect temperature! All too often, red wines are served at room temperature, which doesn't work well, especially in an open-air bar/restaurant in the tropics!
We had two appetizers - the Fried Calamari and the Chorizo with sauteed potatoes. Both were delicious, and I think I could make a meal of the chorizo!
The Ahi Tuna and Filet Mignon entrees were both spectacular. I was glad my husband ordered something I liked so we could share! For dessert, we had key lime pie and cheesecake. Again...both were fantastic!
The service was probably the best I've seen in Las Terrenas. Philip, the owner, checked in with us a few times to ensure we were satisfied with everything.
Although the location is just off the beach and one of the main roads, it is pretty quiet and peaceful! We appreciated being able to converse during our meal and not have to shout over the loud music you hear at many places nearby.
All in all, this was probably one of the best meals we've ever had - anywhere! We will definitely be back!

I had the pleasure of eating here three times in three weeks. The food was consistently delicious and I never ordered anything twice. I wanted to taste as much as possible from the menu and I was not disappointed. (I also made my partner share some of his)
Everything was perfect! This is a true team effort lead by a very talented chef in the kitchen and his partner out front. The head waiter provided superior service as did all of the well trained servers.
There is an excellent wine list and delicious desserts.
I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes good food and anyone who wants a memorable evening in Las Terrenas.

The restaurant was very expensive, but the food was overrated. Service was great, and the plating of the food was nice, but I would rather have really exceptional food at the price they charged vs. nice plating. Putting condiments in little cute dishes is nice but it does nothing to enhance the actual quality of the food. I think they think a bit too much of themselves and should really rather concentrate on superb food to match the price they charge. We left hungry and feeling overcharged for what we got, and how it tasted. I wouldn't go back.

I am sorry that you did not enjoyed your dinning experience with us!
Our prices are competitive with other restaurants of the same calibre in Las Terrenas and of course there are other options in terms of prices as there are 174 restaurants in town.
We have a policy in place where we ask the customers three minutes after the food has arrive to the table if "it is to their liking or not", that way we can correct it if it's not; I wish you would have expressed your feelings about the food that evening and something would have been done for sure.
Again, I apologize that you did not have the experience that the majority of our customers have at El Dieciocho.

Although this restaurant is not on the beach, it makes up for the lack of view by being hands down the best in Las Terrenas. We spend 10 days in this area and dined out in most of the top 5 recommended spots only to be disappointed time and again, with the exception of El Dieciocho. The food is excellent, ambience relaxing and service efficient and professional. If you have limited time in the area and like good flavorful food, try here. We ended up here twice and both times, it was excellent.

Food is absolutely delicious. The menu was personally curated over months by the owner (who is delightful and takes care of every table), who will explain any questions you may have and give a colorful description of each dish (where you’ll be salivating by the time he’s done).
I recommend getting at the very least one of each of the house specials, and a recommended bottle of vino (or 2!). We had a large group and were able to treat the experience more tapas style and share a majority of the menu, and again you cannot go wrong with what you pick.
The atmosphere is also incredible - open air seating just metres away from the beach. Located in the heart of Las Terrenas, very easy to walk to and from the restaurant. We were in the town for only five days and went to Dieciocho twice to cover more ground on the menu that we didn’t try the first time.
Great for appetizers and cocktails as well, they have a cute bar in addition to the tables.
Highly recommend.

Love, Love, Love El 18! It's my go to restaurant in Las Terrenas for a sophisticated, freshly made gourmet fare that rivals upscale restaurants in New York. In addition to a well balanced many for all types of foodies, the ambiance is upscale, yet relaxed, drinks are great and the staff treats everyone like family. The special attention provided by Felipe, executive chef and owner who takes the time to explain each dish and personally checks-in to ensure you are having an amazing experience.
Post COVID, El 18 has maintained its high-quality menu, friendly atmosphere and t I highly recommend el 18 in Las Terrenas!

When we visit las Terranes we stop in for a meal, Philip, Carlos and the staff are very good & very attentive. The food for being in the Dominican Republic is well above the average fare. Wine list is very good also for the area. Restaurant seems to be booked daily so make reservations or go earlier than 7pm. My appetizer dish of Escargot and my main meal of the seafood risotto was all very good

There’s a reason the restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night right before Covid-induced curfew. Phillip and his immensely talented and friendly team provided a five star experience from start to finish. We sampled the menu extensively. Some real stand outs: the homemade Samosa appetizer (huge portion) that in my opinion was even better than I’ve had in London or New York. The house specialty shrimp in light sauce over rice. Exquisite! If you’d like a particularly hefty and delicious fish, try the cod filet over squid ink risotto. Alas, we had no room for dessert. My very dry martini was perfectly poured and we loved the wine list, settling on a delicious Albariño. You’ll regret if you miss this restaurant in Las Terrenas. We can’t wait to go back.

Fantastic service and amazing food! Shrimps "El 18" were an incredible plate, full of flavor and texture. We received personal attention from Chef Martin and he explained the stories behind each plate, it really made a difference in our dinner, we enjoyed every bit. Would eat here again many many times.

El 18 has the best food, and caipirinhas in Las Terrenas. I’ve tried caipirinhas at several places in Las Terrenas and el 18 is the first place I found that actually serves it properly with cachaça. The staff staff is 5 stars. I highly recommend el 18.

Very nice restaurant a bit secluded from the busy streets of downtown Las Terranas. Helpful staff and ready to think along. We looked for non alcoholic drinks and the bartender mixed us nice cocktails without alcohol. Food was delicious. We had carpaccio of mahe mahe, tuna and shrimps. Very refreshing. The main dish we took risotto with seafood. Good choice 👍

We are big fans of this restaurant and love the food and ambiance. However, on our last visit this week, we were totally blindsided by the restaurant owner/manager. Just one fresh fish dish was more money than our entire meal (for 2) at Porto (another great place) the next night. The fish alone was $90 USD!!! It’s a fish…nothing particularly special except, the owner dis take literally 2 minutes to bone it and serve at the table. And the worst part of this is that the owner never had the courtesy to tell us (UPFRONT) how much this fish was going to cost given that it was 5 times as much as everything else on the menu. Shame on us for not asking…but it should be the responsibility of the proprietor to explain the specials including the price when the meal was so outrageously priced. It’s clear why he didn’t tell us the price…no one in their right mind would select it if they knew. Needless to say, we had sticker shock. The place and food is great; but the management needs to be transparent. I’m not sure we’ll ever go back and now compare every meal in Las Terrenas to the price of that fish…the visit was certainly memorable!

Excellent experience at Dieciocho! Wonderful attention to detail in the service and presentation of the food. Owner was extremely friendly and professional. Offered off menu options for picky eating kids and a wonderful homemade banana ice cream. My wife and I thought we made a mistake ordering the bruschetta trio as we were expecting something different, but after trying it, we are it all since it was so delicious. I've had lamb tagine in many restaurants and this is one of the best. Will definitely return when we're back in Las Terrenas.
If there's one piece of constructive feedback, it would be to have more fans or portable air conditioners. By the end of the meal, we were all sweating, including the restaurant employees. It definitely gets very hot if the ocean breeze isn't blowing.

El 18 Dieciocho is truly the best restaurant in LT (and there are many). The owner, Philippe, is attentive and makes sure you have the best experience. The service and staff are impeccable, like a 3-Star Michelin restaurant. We clear every plate we order because the food is of the highest quality and the presentation is beautiful. You must try the Tri-Fish Carpaccio appetizer and Risotto de la Mer. The menu has so many wonderful options you will have difficulty deciding! Definitely make reservations, always crowded. Did I mention how beautiful the decor is? Worth the visit and many more after that.
