So glad we found this place when searching online for somewhere to have a nice dinner during our time in Las Terrenas! We absolutely had the best time at El Lugar! The food and service were phenomenal! There were 8 of us and all were pleased. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was excellent, we were greeted by Bruno and his wonderful staff, and complimentary apps were placed on our table! It got even better from there. We had meat and fish and everything was cooked perfectly. I had the dorado filet al coco and the flavors were beyond anything I could have imagined. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and our amazing waitress brought out a desert with a sparkling candle and we all sang. The night ended with complimentary special shots for everyone at the table with Bruno and our wonderful waitress, with Bruno adding fresh whip cream to each shot. You just cannot find better food or service ANYWHERE. Also, the prices are totally reasonable.

My husband and I were very impressed with our meal at El Lugar. The ambiance is beautiful, and the food was delicious. First of all, we received free filtered water upon being seated, a rare find in the DR (as the tap water is unsafe, most restaurants have bottled water for sale, but not many will offer free filtered water). They also brought us little fried fish and a bread basket on the house. The bread came with this great olive oil & vinegar dip that seemed like it also had honey in it—so tasty! We ordered the chicken strip appetizer, and it was so moist and flavorful. I ordered the salmon main dish that came with an incredible salsa. We were pleasantly surprised with the whole experience and would highly recommend the restaurant.

I went there with my bf for dinner this weekend. Everything was perfect. We ordered a mojito and a gin cucumber martini. Both were very tasty and not too sweet. The kitchen gave us an amuse bouche of croquettes which was a pleasant surprise and then followed with fresh bread. We ordered calamari, ceviche, and mahi mahi with vegetables and potato wedges. It was all delicious and flavorful. The service and food was great and we will definitely return.

My husband and I just had lunch at this place it was one of THE best experiences we’ve had in a restaurant. The servers were very attentive and the owner, Bruno, was very nice and went to every table to introduce himself and ask if everything was going okay.
Now on to the food... OH MY GOD. What an experience. We had drinks, tapas, a “french burger” and fish “al coco”. It was all AMAZING. But the best part was dessert. Two words: CHOCOLATE FONDANT. Just order it. You will not regret it!
We are already looking forward to coming back to this place!

Dined here in early March and although the staff are really friendly the food was not what we expected based on previous reviews. The prawns were rubbery and did not taste fresh. Ditto the mani mani. Really disappointing overall.

My husband and I went here for dinner after seeing good reviews and it exceeded my expectations. The appetizer of chicken coquettes was tasty and presented well. The service was attentive and friednly. I ordered the pork rib chops which were cooked to perfection. The portions are quite large and it was a great value. We also hada special shot du jour which had a touch of oramge blossom making it a perfect appertif to ourfabulous meal.

Steak eaters will be pleased with this Caribbean establishment. Quality steaks are tough to come by in this area of the world, yet Bruno (the owner), has been able to curate a quality experience suitable for families and international travelers alike. As a wine drinker, it was pleasant to see they served their red bottles appropriately chilled for Caribbean nights.

Honestly, we didn’t expect anything from the dominican restaurant, but it was just amazing! Excellent service, delicious meals and friendly owner. From the first step you receive an attention, provided with a table and be advised good food. Our choice were Lion fish and Mahi-Mahi with shrimps - yummmyyy🤤 also we had croquets complimentary. The best place to eat for me now! Recommend!

I’ve never been more disappointed about a meal and paying $150 for a family of 4. We ordered 4 different meals and one was worse than the other. Unseasoned and dry flavorless not fresh tasting. My husband and son had sour stomachs after and it ruined what was a fun day Zip lining. We spent so much money that day hoping for a taste of real Dominican food. I should have been warned that the entire place was empty at 6pm it looked so chic and the menus images looked gourmet in reality it was cruise level food. We purposefully ventured away from Playa Bonitas bland food joints because we had lots of delicious food in town. Don’t waste your money.

Tout d abord, je tient à vous rappeler que quand vous vous êtes présentés au restaurant, vous avez déclarer en premier lieux que votre maris et votre fils était indisposé de l estomac et donc vous avez demandé que leurs pinacolada soit sans lactose…
Il y avais 4 serveuse à votre disposition qui sont passé plusieurs fois à votre table pour vous demander si tout allait bien.
Votre mari, qui avait mal à l’estomac, ne voulais pas de lactose dans sa pinacolada mais a commander notre casserole de la mer, il est clairement indiqué dans le menu que c est un plat à base de crème, et donc un plat lourd.
Seul votre fils et votre maris qui se déclarait malade en entrant dans le restaurant non pas terminé leur plats.
Vous m avez rien laisser de votre poisson.
Et votre fils qui se sentait bien a complètement dévorer ces pâtes aux crevettes
Vous avez eu toutes les occasions possible de dire sur place au serveuse si il y avais un problème.
Vous ne l avez pas fais !!!
Vous avez même laisser un pourboire de 700 pesos sur votre carte …
C est à dire 10% de votre addition.
Le montant de votre addition taxes incluse pour 4 était de 7008 pesos, soit 128 US $ … et non 150 …
Nous ne pouvons en aucun cas être tenu responsable de ce que vous avez manger avant de venir nous visiter !!!
Si vous saviez devoir éviter les lactose, pourquoi en commander ????
Si c’était aussi décevant que vous le prétendez, pourquoi ne pas l avoir dis directement à nos serveuse et pourquoi avoir laisser en plus un généreux pourboire si c est pour ensuite nous faire un commentaire aussi salissant ?!?!
Nous ne travaillons que des produits frais, nous respectons ces produits et nos clients en les travaillant de manière professionnelle !!!
Vous semblez experte en menu de cruseros, et n apprécier ni la cuisine de bonita, ni la nôtre ….
Peut-être devriez-vous rester sur les bateaux de croisière ….

We chose this restaurant based on reviews on trip advisor, which were mostly excellent. The reviews wasn't wrong, we had a nice and warm welcome from the owner, and staff was nice also. Very clean and modern toilets, furniture and atmosphere were nice also. Even though almost everything seemed good, the only minus was food itself. I had a burger, and it was a bit of disappointment. The patty was bad quality beef.
My girlfriend ordered tenderloin well done, but it was medium (not that big deal though). The menu was broad and probably the other more expensive steaks are better.

We love this restaurant! To eat there and also for delivery (Komida).
Wonderful, pleasant service!
Empanadas with foie gras and apple were the best empanadas we ever had. And we can recommend the fish an clams as well. And the desert is lovely!
Quality and preparation is great, the food is made with love.
If you never ate at „el lugar“. You really have to travel to Dom Rep, las Terrenas😄

Thanks to Bruno and his entire team in the kitchen and in the dining room. For the second year we return to your restaurant with as much pleasure. The quality of the products, the flawless execution, all in difficult conditions (Las Terrenas is far away, it's hot), always served with a smile and the pleasure of rediscovering regressive flavors from our childhood (chocolate mousse... mmmm), it's fantastic and we realize it's a lot of work! In addition, your prices are very reasonable and you do not hesitate to defend your staff in your comments: you are a conscientious boss, we love it, and of course we will come back! Thank you for all this work and congratulations to your teammates!

I was in Las Terranas for 5 days and went to this restaurant twice. The food was excellent - started off with the complimentary croquettes and then had a steak and then grilled squid. Such incredible flavors. Even the drinks were exciting. The owner was present both days and was very welcoming to all guests.

My wife and I recently were looking specifically for some pasta when we happened to walk by El Lugar. We decided to try it and were not disappointed. We both had a different pasta dish and both of us enjoyed it very much. If you happen to sit towards the back it is a bit warm but very interesting to see the chefs and the wood fire they use to cook some of the dishes with.

When a restaurant causes a constant traffic jam out front you know it is good. My family has been visiting this restaurant since they opened (before they moved to this new spot…which isn’t new anymore). It is always a joy. The food is always top notch. Whatever you order will be good. My suggestion: Get the Copa Sandia for a refreshing drink!
