I have lived in Las Terrenas for almost 15 years i have seen teh Porto restaurant develop and grow from its start.
it has been through both good and bad periods which are shown in peoples reviews that date prior to 2020.
today with the Mosquito team running things its excellent with innovative food and drinks.
The service can be slow if they are busy and most wont speak English.
Its a great place with a beautiful ambience right on the beach its has sun loungers that you can use so you can enjoy a whole day there as long as you are a paying client.

Beautiful place but as one reviewer said, waiters seems lost in that setting, Not a lot of places outside if one wants a chaise lounge or mat. You will be quite close to other guests and the hostess was adamant the service on the beach won't go further and cannot move the chairs.
The food was delicious. Yes prices are high of a burger in the area but very fair for all the rest. Was quite surprised as reivews say its costly byt really, very fair (besides burger and pizza). Actually some items as the fried fish are less expansive than in the common shacks along the beach. I had a trio of seafood and Oh My !!!!!!
The setting and food makes it worth it but I always wonder why the service is not the friendliest in an island with such friendly people. Maybe they get tired with the tourists.

Pricy but great food and location, overlooking the ocean. Very tasty and has an extensive selection (pizza, chicken fingers, chicken with veggies, steak, fish, lobster, etc.). The drinks were great as well.
Only issue is that it is on the pricier side for the Dominican Republic but it’s one of the only restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. All in all, a great restaurant and worth the trip if you’re in the area.

Went for a nice walk along the beach in Portillo, had nice drinks at the Mosquito Bar, walked further down the beach to their restaurant/bar, sat down at a nice beach front table. Waited 15 minutes at a table, 5 staff members talking to one another, no one came up to us with a menu or offered us a drink. During those 15 minutes waiting, two tables had finished, received their bill and they had been clearing the tables. Not until we got up to leave, someone approached us! Unfortunately was too late!
Mosquito has a good name in town, but is known for the negligent service, especially at this location. Won’t be recommending this place!

Coolest place in Las Terrenas. Amazing ambience, design, food, service. The bartender was the only English speaking server so he came out from the bar and catered to our every whim. Food presentation was so well done and tasted just as great. Complimentary hot chocolate at the end of our meal, just because. We came here twice in 3 days.

Located “waterfront” on Portillo beach, this restaurant and beach bar is decorated with great taste. There are excellent cocktails and very good cuisine. It's the perfect place to spend the day. The only downside is that while a few staff members are busy running the place, most of the servers are stuck on their cell phones and doing absolutely nothing. It’s also a shame that the beachfront is not better maintained. A cup and a bottle cap were lying around and no one came to pick them up (they were too busy on their phones).

Disastrous experience (10-08-2024), after 2.5 hours waiting for food we decided to wake up and leave without food (4 adults and 4 girls), overflowing kitchen, too many people in the restaurant who were not able to assume. Nice atmosphere place opposite the beach. And we were not the only ones, all the tables were protesting and with long faces, what should have been a night of laughter and joy, gradually transformed into long and angry faces. If you go down that road, I don't augur well for you.

Most dominican restaurants have the same menu (lambi a la criolla, mero,...). This place has different food. The chef is from Peru. Dishes are original, well prepared.
Besides, it's a nice place at the beach. Good and friendly service. We loved it!!!

レストランの雰囲気、料理のセレクション、スタッフの皆さんはとても親切で笑顔が良かった。セビチェは普通でしたがリゾットはレベルが高くヨーロッパにいる様でした。誕生日のケーキを持参しましたが、お花などでデコレーションしてくれてとてもありがたかったです。リピありです！
Great selection, beautiful ambiance, wonderful staff, we enjoyed every second. Ceviche was ok but the main was amazing and super reasonable. They know how to celebrate birthdays. We were able to bring our own cake but they decorated with flowers and candles. That was super nice of them.

We arrived for a late lunch and the waiter assigned to our table was visibly not pleased to see us. Dishes tend to lean to European ones - I had a quinoa salad. The outdoor setting is lovely right on the water. Pricey!

The place is amazing, The staff is somewhere lost in space. The food is looking sideways towards Peru, the prices are European (especially the wines).
So basically you'll go in a place like this only for one reason.

The Porto by Mosquito, on the Portillo beach (after Poppy) is one of the 3 locations of the Mosquito in Las Terrenas (there is the Mosquito bar, lounge, restaurant at the entrance to the village opposite the Pueblo dos Pescadores and there is the Mosquito Boutique hotel in Bonita, surfers' beach). All the young people (and not so young) meet at Porto on Sundays but here, we were there on a Monday lunchtime and there were a lot of customers too. The place is very nice.

We are regulars at this restaurant and we come there as soon as we are at the Bahia Grand El Portillo hotel, that is to say 3 months a year and once a week in this restaurant. The food is good and the setting exceptional.
We like to have the tuna tataki, the Camembert stuffed bread or the shrimp dumpling. For main course we always take lobster which is excellent and plentiful. For dessert we have the dark chocolate fondant and ice cream.
The aperitifs are very good but there are a few things missing to accompany them. The servers are friendly and attentive. Thank you to the whole team for these moments spent in your restaurant.

Porto by Mosquito is the most beautiful beach front restaurant in Las Terrenas and the Samaná Peninsula. The food is ok. The service could be better, more attentive. Some of the guys are very friendly (Felipe and Uziel!). It's a great place to spend an afternoon on the beach!

Beautiful place for sure , but be prepared to have your cars hit by trucks , there’s no parking there and the restaurant isn’t any help. We got our rental car hit by a truck while parked right in front of the restaurant. Laura the manager was great she really tried to help but owners did nothing, there’s “no” cameras there and no safety. So just be prepared to pay for more than just your food. We spent over 300$ usd there and owner couldn’t even speak with us. Disappointed!
